I first thought of making this a 4 star review. If I did, that just didn't feel right. Their Buckeye Donut is so original and so very good. One real original and unique item which you'd struggle to find elsewhere other than here or maybe in some other few places in OH. Yes, I am a donut aficionado. Shipley donuts has the best white cream long john. Well, a similar is of course the round white cream filled. This is my favorite donut style. Yeast with the cream and chocolate icing. The one I had here at Schuler's was great. I'd say a tie. I actually liked the yeast donut better here than Shipley. Then the cream. I liked Shipley's white cream more. As for the icing, I'm a chocoholic too. I can roll with almost any chocolate except that nasty Palmer cheap crap. The icing was plentiful. The cream was abundant. The flavor of the yeast dough doughnut..... pretty darn good. The white cream here was lighter and not as creamy thick. Not a bad thing, just different. Some people may actually really like the lighter approach compared to a thicker heavier cream. Quality though anyway. The Buckeye donut. I had that for dessert this evening. I wish I had more. Maybe a little more peanut to the inner cream, maybe. What a treat though. If I lived or traveled regularly through here, my next sampling would be the butter cream chocolate brownies. Discipline. I needed it today and I was a good athlete. So If you're on I-70, stop by and just live a little. Not too much over indulgence too often though the locals have a great place.

I absolutely LOVE Schuler's Bakery doughnuts,(Glaze is my FAVE), but their customer service can be terrible. I get that some people are not necessarily "morning" people, but please attempt to put a smile on your face and make your customers feel as if their business is valued. Aside from this, try them out if you're in the Springfield area. You may not feel warm and fuzzy while dealing with the employees, but one bite into their doughnut ... that warm and fuzzy will return.

Nostalgic HUGE donuts. Whole wheat donut is interesting, and they use whipped cream for cream filled varieties. Almost as good as Bill's.

Opted for the butterfly cookies plain and a buckeye donut and enjoyed the sugar coma!

I debated leaving a review, but I think I'm being fair and since it's a new business, I think it's…read moreimportant to share. I went in to this new bakery because I really felt I needed to find the perfect cake to celebrate a 60th anniversary for my wonderful in-laws. Springfield has very few options but I had very high hopes that it'd be great and I wouldn't have to go to Beavercreek or wherever to get this special cake. I knew I didn't want to transport a 2 tier cake but needed a cake large enough for 30-40 people. The sample she showed me (below w/ cutting instructions) looked like it was a good choice. One large cake with "Happy 60th Anniversary" written on it. What I got was "Happy 60 Anniversar" Also not very elegant looking writing. I think even I could've possibly done a better job. Our get together was on a Sunday, but the owner of the shop had a bridal shower so I'd have to pick it up Friday, 2 days prior. That was fine so I brought my son so he could carry and hold the cake until I got it home. Luckily we have an extra fridge and it wasn't a problem. He noticed it immediately as well, I really was kind of surprised it looked this way. I hoped it wouldn't be noticeable but it definitely was. Every one immediately noticed the "y" missing and commented "where's the 'y'?" - actually it was covered up with flowers and noticed it also sounded odd, Happy 60 anniversary instead of 60th. The owner didn't point out the covered up "y" and actually when I said 'where's the y'? She made no apology or offered to fix the issue. If this was a $50 Walmart cake I think they would've offered to correct it in some way but $145 cake ( plus 4% service charge-not sure what that's about), I just felt it could've looked more professional. The cake itself was pretty good. It fed the party but in hindsight I probably should've asked for some correction.

Walked in last week and ordered this cake! The owner was so nice and talked with an employee who…read morebrought my vision to life! After 6 hours of travel, we ate the cake and it was so good!
