Graham's is an excellent and awesome shoe store for a couple of reasons…read more 1. The price point of every pair is not ridiculously high 2. The selection is offbeat and fun 3. The staff is fun 4. There are always lots of shoes on sale, especially between seasons Selling a range of casual sneaks, edgy leather boots and unusual and fun heels, Graham's has a great mix of stuff that will keep you from blending in. Think of this place as a little bit indie. They sell a few brands that I have always loved - Poetic License and Irregular Choice, which I haven't found anywhere else in Dublin. The prices aren't bad, and the sale prices are awesome. Lots of pairs are half off or even more! Definitely check this place out if you're not interested in the cookie cutter party girl look.

Hello "Hello" said…read morethe nice but clearly tired shop assistant, "how can I help you?" She looked at me, realised it was unlikely that I was in to get shoes for myself (we were in the kids dept) and looked for the child that must be somewhere in tow. ...there he was... faster than a speeding bullet, diving through my legs, past the fish tank (really big, impressive and colourful) and under the benches. She looks at the legs and feet poking out, measures the feet and gets a selection of runners for himself. The selection was big and well chosen.... All bright, boyish and garish as hell. I spotted the ones he would go for immediately - not the most expensive (but not cheap), but by far the brightest most garish runners I have ever seen - they even had lights, lots of lights. Within 2 mins he had them on He didn't take them off for 3 days. Great shop, great (and very tolerant) staff.

I am delighted to give top 5 star rating to this shoe shop. Paul Byrons Shoes based in the Manor…read moreMills Shopping Centre in Maynooth is well worth a visit, particular at this time as they have an absolutely brilliant and genuine sale of top class shoes makes such as Skechers, Pitillos, Reiker, Crocs, Ecco, to name but a few. The staff there are the most helpful shop assistants I have ever come across and are consistently friendly and just plain nice to customers, even when they are very busy and under pressure such as at present during the sale and parents trying to get shoes for children going back to school etc. I was there recently and bought a fantastic pair of Reiker sandals for a mere €35 less than half the original price. I also tried on the most comfortable pair of shoes that I have put on my bunioned feet - Pitilos with a nice heel height and classic stylish look, but they didn't have my size in the navy colour that I so wanted to match a lovely new dress! However, the helpful assistant whom I dealt with Sinead, saw how disappointed I was and went above and beyond the call of duty and said she would check around all the other shops to see if she could locate a pair for me - by the way they have stores all over the country from Maynooth, Newbridge, covering the whole of the midlands and some of the West as far as Galway. I had only left the shop an hour when Sinead called me and said she had located a pair for me in the Athlone shop and would have them delivered to Maynooth within a week where I could pick them up. In fact, much to my surprise I got a call again from Sinead within 3 days saying that they had now got the shoes in and I could call to collect them!...which of course I did, much to my delight and even better to get them again at the reduced price of €37 from the original €85 - was I trilled or what! So if you want to bag a bargain, head straight to Paul Byron Shoes. Incidentally, I have discovered that they also have a very good online shop, but because of my 'troublesome' feet, I am one of these people who simply has to try on the shoes first before purchasing.

Just a little off the beaten path along Seafort Avenue, this is the secret shop D4 dandies go to for the best of Fashion Weeks past, as previously worn by Social and Personal types. Step into the back for a look at filmier gowns and frocks, but steel thyself for the prices -there's no bargain basement prices (but you will get that Chanel blouse at half it's original sale price). My first introduction to Second Avenue was on a cold spring day a few years back; as we rounded a corner on a closed up shop I wondered if we'd gone too far. A moment later the shop front appeared, blocked in by rows of Land Rovers parked right in front of the shop window. Inside there was quiet as women fanned through beautiful silks and suits hung along the wall racks. At the centre table I fell in love with a black croc clutch that I would end up going back twice to mull over bringing home. The price tag ended the would-be romance.

Second Avenue is where all the D4 ladies go second hand shopping. But this boutique is a far cry…read morefrom Oxfam or SVP. It is definitely not a mothball charity shop. On offer here you can find Gucci suits, Prada handbags, Alexander McQueen jackets and John Rocha scarves, all at a fraction of the original price (though unfortunately still out of my budget!). The clothes range from vintage to last season, and most pieces would be suited for the more mature lady.
