Mike has years of experience dealing with kids and is very passionate about his trade. He's a Berkeley graduate in Music and has helped our daughter expose herself to different genres. We would highly recommend Mike as you "Guitar Teacher of Choice" in Bay Area. He does both online and in person. Our preference has been the latter where he comes to our place in Fremont for lessons.

I have had the pleasure of knowing the Dahlgren family for years now, and even worked at R Pals Music way back when I was in high school (one of my first jobs required stringing guitars for Mr. Dahlgren). I am happy to see that, ten years later, their business is still a part of the community and still supplying the eager musicians of tomorrow with the tools necessary to realize their dreams. Beyond all of this, the real draw of R Pals Music, is the mom and pop store attitude the Dahlgren's bring to their business. This is LITERALLY a mom and pop store, the kind of breed that is rare to find these days. To truly understand the appeal, just walk in the store. You'll no doubt be taken by Patricia's warm and welcoming humor or Robert's infectious laugh. You can do business with a music supply store that views you no differently than a collection stub... or your could bring your business to a family that has made a habit out of making their customers part of their own.

My daughter (14yo) has been taking lessons from Mr. Ortiz for three years. Prior to that, she had…read moreseven years of lessons. She plays advanced classical repertoire. Mr. Ortiz has many outstanding qualities as a teacher. He pinpoints weaknesses in technique and works closely with students to strengthen their technique. My daughter's technique has improved dramatically. Also, Mr. Ortiz's approach has guided my daughter's independent musicality. He doesn't insist that my daughter play a piece with his interpretation, as I've seen many teachers do. At lessons, he's asked her to play a passage several different ways, and he's shown her other artists' interpretations, then he leaves it up to her. She is fully engaged and invested in not just replicating a piece but in developing her own interpretive style. He has also helped her prepare pieces for festivals and Certificate of Merit, and she has been well prepared. My daughter has been insecure about memorizing, and Mr. Ortiz has helped her develop strategies for securing memory, like analyzing the piece's form and transposing to multiple keys. Lastly, Mr. Ortiz is a kind teacher. It's clear that he enjoys his students. He meets them where they are at. If they don't understand something, he patiently comes at it from a different angle. We think he is a gem in the world of classical piano.

I did some Google searching on my Dunlop cry baby mini pedal and found tons of evidence that they have lots of reliability problems. I was comforted that it was still under the 1 year warranty period and asked my wife if she could handle the administrative side of making the warranty claim. But this is where the disappointment started. She has been dialoging with them on email for 3 weeks. She now,is claiming they want us to answer several questions about the "alleged" defective pedal including sending them a video of it in operation! Total waste of time for a cheap, poorly made $100 pedal! I'm so surprised that Dunlop's customer support is so slow and ineffective in making good business decisions. I was hunting down a MXR EVH Flanger pedal over the last week and was also interested in their MXR EVH Chorus pedal after seeing a YouTube video, but the poor workmanship and poor customer support culture of this company has me steering away from any Dunlop or MXR pedal. Very disappointing and surprising for a company that has been around a long time. I guess they don't make them like they used to! In contrast, Strymon quality snd customer support has been amazing. Also I've never had a Boss pedal wear out... they are like tanks.
