Second time I've had to call Schroeder's for a tow in the past couple of years. Blew a tire on I-20 in Lexington last night, driving Aston Martin V8 Vantage, which isn't equipped with a spare. I explained to the dispatcher this is a very low car, even without a flat. No problem, Brian came to the scene with a new flatbed which tilted down, making the job simple. Used wheel straps to avoid scratching fenders, and brought me and and car home safely. The man is clearly a professional who takes pride in his work. Previously Schroeder's has also moved my Jag XKE quickly and safely - I wouldn't trust my cars to anyone else. I pay $50 a month for park at Greene Crossing. Last night they wrongfully towed my vehicle and then made me pay $200 to get it out! Even after proving I had a parking permit. They were extremely disrespectful and threatened to call the cops on me when I said it was ridiculous I had to pay for their mistake! A horrible company looking for a cash grab and to pray on young people! Also there's scratches and damages to my vehicle from being towed! Would rate zero stars if was an option! read more

My friend-from out of state-had a medical emergency and was in the hospital in Lexington. When I got there-from Virginia-I found his car had been improperly towed and marked as abandoned. I paid almost $500 to retrieve it, although I had hospital paperwork . The cashier was extremely rude-I think her name was Ashley-and sent me out to get the car, knowing I could not get in a locked lot by myself. My vehicle was towed and I was in the wrong. I went to pick up the vehicle and they were supposed to be open 24/7 but according to them "no one was there and I couldn't pick it up until 8:30 AM the next morning." They had my vehicle for 10 hours and charged me $383 which is outrageous. That includes a late fee of $45 meanwhile they didn't even have it for 24 hours. My husband was in an accident on interstate 26 in South Carolina. He wThe police told us to call the towing company which we did and Dennis who works for Schroeder was nothing but genuine and had great customer service. He helped us through the process as we are new to South Carolina and wasn't sure how the rules and regulations worked. He Let us know to file the insurance claim and call the office with the claim number so that we wouldn't personally be charged for the tow or storage. Dennis was amazing, valueable, and the reasons that we will use them again if we are ever found in a similar predicament. read more

Short story- HIGHLY recommended. The rest of the story- No one ever wants to have to call for a tow. The stress of whatever is wrong with the car, how to get it to the shop, how long it'll take to get it to someplace safe, etc etc. Schroeder's was a life saver. ...A family member broke down on the highway just outside of Columbia SC the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. I called my insurance company and they couldn't guarantee any tow within any ETA. I was just informed to wait. I then called Schroeders directly. They were very responsive and courteous. Highly do not recommend. I was informed to pick up a vehicle at one location between the hours of 4pm-5pm on the weekends by appointments only. I made my appointment and reconfirmed the address and location , and the vehicle was not at the location. I sat in the parking from 3:21pm - 7pm waiting. I called several times. Everyone gave me the same respond " oh he is otw". I finally got a nice gentleman on the phone and he was super apologetic and assisted me. Whoever is training Penny, please sit with her so she is able to inform people of the right information. You do not place new employees on the phone with limited information. I normally do not post these things but this one hits a nerve as I feel that this tow company is only after a money grab and preys on college students. My daughter lives at the Row and pays to park there. During the USC game, she had her parking pass on the dash as they have a well known issue by The Row that the tags don't stay on the rear view mirror and tend to fall. My daughter realized her car was towed that night around 11:30pm and called about it. She informed them they had towed her car in error and what it would take to get it back. They told her it would be $260 and that there was nothing they could do as it was policy that the tags had to be on the rear view mirror and it was her responsibility to abide by that. They were rude about this and offered no compromise for towing in error. We have since spoken with the management at The Row and they have informed us that they instruct Schroeder's not to tow if the pass is anywhere visible in the car which it was. They told my daughter that there was nothing they could do about the fee and she could pick up her car anytime the next day. She called me that night and I said I'd call and see what we could do about at least a reduction in the fee since it she was towed in error from her own apartment complex. The individual I spoke with was rude and had no desire to discuss the situation rationally and only kept quoting their right to tow the car if the parking tag was not hanging on the rear view mirror and stated that their drivers did not have time to inspect every car. I stated that is exactly what they need to do to avoid situation like that. She would not budge on the issue so I said we'll just come get the car and be done with it. At that point, she said the fee was now $360 and they were allowed to charge a storage fee after 12 hours. We had even offered to prove that the car was towed in error and show them the pass when we picked the car up so we would not have to pay $260 much less $360. After I was told it would be $360, I informed her she should be ashamed of herself as that is criminal. It became apparent that all this company cares about is getting money out of college students and is not open to a logical discussion when they make a mistake. Went to retrieve my vehicle after it had been towed from the interstate after an accident. I opened the door and there it was, a life size figure of former candidate Donald Trump. On the wall was a painting of all of the former GOP Presidents sitting at a table. I believe in the First Amendment; however, the establishment is a public business, not a GOP headquarters. It was quite intimidating to say the least. Distasteful, given the current political environment. After getting over the initial shock of the "dummy", person at the window was even worse. She was rude and condescending. I literally walked out and sat in my car. Thank goodness I was accompanied by my adult child who "sucked it up" and finished the transaction. And yes, it's true. You must sign a waiver and pay the impound fees before you're allowed to see your vehicle. They're a bunch of crooks! read more

I wish I could give them a lower rating but one was as low as I could get... They towed my car from the side of the road where I had parked trying to get to the gamecocks game... They claimed that one of my tires on my vehicle was in the parking lot that they controlled even though it wasn't marked and I was alongside the street. Additionally, they damaged my vehicle to the point that my entire wheel well was left sitting in their parking lot. Even the pictures that they took made it look ridiculous but they stood their ground and insisted that they worked liable for their actions or the damage that they did to my car. read more

Caution: when trying to recover your car from Schroeder's towing ask for Aldrin. The front desk personnel denied my car was even at the facility! After several attempts they finally confirmed car was there. But that was only the being. I confirmed with the front desk personel that a Fork lift would be able to load vehicle on to my car trailer, car lost a wheel. Arriving around 4pm nobody was available. Without tools I spent 4hr+ trying to get truck on. No luck and just about to give up and drive back to Charlotte NC. Aldrin, tow truck driver and fork lift qualified, offered me assistance. Aldrin apologized and was appalled that desk personnel, who had cameras in parking area, did not call for help. In less than 11 minutes Aldrin loaded the truck. It took me over 4 hours and over $200 and signing a waiver if i kill myself in yard Schroeders cant be held liable. I am a disabled Veteran 100% physically handicapped. Even though 15 years of rehab i am able to walk and move, I was not prepared to struggle for 4 hours alone. I would not recommend Schroeder towing desk personnel for anything. Now i understand why they have Brand New Trucks, they spend NOTHING on customer service. Guys like Aldrin are hard to come by, and COMPLETELY unappreciated at this business. Negative reviews for tow service businesses are common given the nature of business. Getting towed aside (albeit seemed extremely predatory given my car was in a half empty lot), the "customer" "service" is awful. Good luck getting your car back early morning to midday the next day if you need to be somewhere ... you're on their time now. The whole process of getting my car and other poor souls' cars out of the impound was like playing reverse jenga. You're pretty much on your own to maneuver and squeeze your car out the lot. Employees supervising the process will just watch - won't clear a path to get your car out the lot. You'd think they'd have enough manpower allocated to service impounded vehicles efficiently since they sure seem to have plenty of manpower to tow dozens and dozens of vehicles. read more

My daughters vehicle was towed from a parking garage at USC today. The garage requires a permit to enter. Her permit is a 2" sticker, required to be stuck on the inside of the bottom driver side windshield. It's not an obvious sticker, located in an inconspicuous place, but does grant you access to the garage at the gate. My daughter was unfortunately involved in a bad car accident 5 weeks ago. Her car was totaled. We drove a vehicle to her for the last 2 weeks of class so she could pack and move home to VA once classes were complete. We gave the dorm all details of the vehicle - make, model, year, license plate information, etc and we're given a large laminated temporary parking permit. No where on the permit does it state this needs to be visible. After all, its a gated parking garage and it's just needed to gain entrance, right? When I learned the vehicle had been towed this evening, I called Schroeders. I asked the young lady if there would be someone available to walk with my daughter to view the parking permit in the vehicle where my daughter states it would be located. She stated that there would be and could do that and they closed at 9pm. My daughter arrived before 8pm and the woman stated she was the only one working and could not leave the office. I told her that I would have my daughter take a picture of the permit in sight before opening the vehicle. She got sarcastic with me that she wasn't going to allow my "daughter to go to the car alone and take a picture after placing the permit in the vehicle." Yep, I lost my cool on the woman because she was telling me that I was a liar and would have my daughter do such a unethical thing. My daughter paid $250 to get the vehicle out. My daughter videoed herself leaving the office, walking to the car, and videoed the permit in plain sight before ever entering the vehicle. Schroeder's Towing...YOU'RE unethical! Shame on you for wanting to make a few more bucks before these kids leave for the summer. You lied to me, were not willing to understand our concerns...you just didn't want us to prove you wrong. When I had a flat tire in the middle of the night on a lonely stretch of I-26, over 80 miles from home, I called Chevy OnStar and Schroeder's towing graciously came to help out. Chevy OnStar took down my credit card for a towing fee of $175. The driver, Mr Carruthers, was very accommodating in getting me and my dogs back to our home and dropping my car off at the tire shop. That is all the good part of the story; then things became a problem. After we arrived, the driver told me that their towing company actually does not participate with the Chevy OnStar payment service and he handed me a bill for an additional $377 out of pocket. The payment would have to be in cash unless I wanted to pay an additional 4% credit card fee. I called back to Chevy OnStar and they said spoke with Schroeder's and then said that demanding extra payment was a violation of their service agreement but they did not have a way to force Schroeder's to adjust the bill this situation. Ultimately, I paid the $377 directly to Schroeder's with the 4% credit card fee, and Chevy OnStar refunded the $175. In retrospect, according to Yelp there was a closer and better rated 24-hour towing company nearby. The next time my car breaks down in that area, I will be calling them instead. read more

Our car was towed from a relative's residence. The vehicle had been borrowed due to an unexpected incident. Any annoyance was with the manager of the property from which the vehicle was towed, not with the company they hired to perform the tow. When we went to retrieve the vehicle we encountered a woman behind the counter who is VERY good at her job. Efficient, competent and does not veer from the goal. I was the victim of a car accident and Richland County Police had my car towed by this company after I was taken by ambulance to the ER. Later when I was released, I called about my car and they said they would get someone out as soon as possible and give me a call back when they got there. I called about 2 hours later and they said they didn't know when they could get out there because they only had 2 drivers and they couldn't pull them off their other calls. I asked them if they could come out to which the person said "I can not. I'm stuck at our Bush River Road location." To which I replied, "That sucks, I'm sorry you're stuck there." To which the person replied, "It doesn't suck". Then I asked what was the absolute latest time I could come get my car. The person replied "I don't know". Charged me an extra 4% because I was using a card. Worst customer service ever. Recently my friend car got towed when I saw them moving her car in my apartment complex the man took off even though he saw and my friend flashed light on her car they could of stopped but they didn't it was another towing person there that could stopped but they didn't I approached and asked where they went he told me after hiding then once I got there they charged 196.00 that I did not have I explained my apartment complex never informed we cannot park in gravel if not a resident my he claimed they have a partnership and my guest should had one in their car I advised if I was aware that I would never been there he could had at lower price because my friend and I came immediately once it happened, we were out there 9:00-11:00pm on Tuesday night my friend doesn't live here and she wasn't aware of the parking she's a nurse and I'm a federal worker this night was stated off beautiful until that happened the person at the front had no heart and could let off by at least 50.00 or 80.00 they got that price of 196.00 that i do not have and that's so unfair please be cautious of this company they are extremely not kind and don't care of people cars my friends car was parked by someone car who glass was shattered once I payed they pushed her car all the way back and didn't bother to help get out once he told me that he'll come get out I came back in after two mins nobody came and once they did finally come they didn't bother assist getting her car out the car wasn't the same after saw them drag her car and they claim they are best hookers her car wasn't even connected on the truck right they could stop and let pay the fee not coming a whole thirteen mins from where I live on weekday and I'm glad I came when I did because they could put car somewhere else and I am filing for my 196.00 because I don't have type money to give people especially since I work and have no extra income coming in. read more

The price is is crazy that they charge for towing. I just paid $521 for my son and his friend car. I drove 1hour to get to them to take them to their cars. We called to let them know that we was there to pick up the cars and the lady was like we can wait to see if a driver come back with another car or come back after 9. We waited 2hrs before someone came. I think they make you wait so they can charge more. I understand that they parked somewhere they shouldn't have and y'all towed the cars which was a lesson learn for them, but charging that much to get it back was crazy. read more

My sons car caught fire so he was in need of a tow. We called Schroeders towing and was greeted by a very friendly dispatcher who was able to find where we were by just telling her a couple of landmarks. We were told it would be around 45 minutes more or less. We were found in 20 minutes of waiting. The driver was very nice and addressed the concerns we had with his car being so low to the ground. Super friendly staff. I was given a 1.5 hour estimate by another company, and after 2 hours started looking for someone else. Schroder's was to me within half an hour of calling. Total cost was under $70, well under what I expected. All of the complaints look like people who got towed for parking where they shouldn't. I've been there, too. It sucks, but be an adult and either admit you were wrong or blame the property owner that contracted them. If you actually want your car towed, these are good people to call. read more

Well it's a towing company so you can expect bad reviews. What I've noticed is there seems to be different prices for different situations. My car was towed, because of an error with Geico. I thought my car was getting towed to a shop, only to get to the shop and find out they never got the car. Turns out these people picked up my car and impounded it over the weekend. When Geico called them they refused to work out the situation, instead they made me drive there and pay them to release my car. After that I was allowed to have my car towed to the repair shop. The charges were over 300 dollars, they also charge you if you use a credit card, and no one was wearing a mask. Luckily Geico did reimburse me, but I found the whole experience to be unpleasant. From what I've gathered if you want a tow it's not as much, but these people are making a killing off of towing cars and holding them hostage for ransom. It really seems unreasonable that they couldn't remedy the situation after Geico explained what happened. read more

Horrible customer service. Terrible people. $135 fine when I am parked in the proper position? Absolute theft. My car was taken from Olympia and I had to ask a friend to get a ride over to this joke of a business. They were disrespectful, unfriendly, unprofessional, not well managed people. The problem was not in the towing, it was in absolutely despicable customer service. They were physically threatening us when we were not compliant with paying a fee, when we realized there was no other option because our car was locked in behind a gate we decided to pay. They were shouting nasty remarks at us and carried on in an unprofessional manner even though they were in the wrong. When we finally received our car there was an abomination smeared on the windshield. They painted on the windshield with letters and numbers with no regard for how disrespectful their actions were. Would recommend never utilizing this towing monstrosity as there are thousands of better options around the city. Worst people I had to deal with in my lifetime. Please avoid this place. read more

We sat on 26 while waiting for State Farm to find a tow truck driver 3hrs into the search we looked ourselves And found Schroeder's - State Farm kept booting them out of the system- Price hung in there while this craziness was going on 5hrs later State Farm's brain farts were over and Price was able to send us Mike whom was very professional these guys were life savers - We were in a 22.5' RV and Mike handled it like a superstar thanks again from Karen and Tim read more
