I called this company after I had a tire blowout. They towed my car to the wrong tire shop. This was specifically after I had a conversation about towing the car to a shop at Hendrix Crossing. They mistakenly took the car to the location on the opposite side of town. They tried to insinuate that I did not communicate the right address, but this is not true. I had already ordered the tire to be sent to the specific address that I told them. They refused to take the car to the proper shop without my paying a second towing fee. Do not use this company, as they do not own up to their own mistakes. They either have incompetent dispatchers or lazy workers. read more

I called Wingard Towing Service late Sunday evening as our catering truck would not start. Greg answered the phone and tried to troubleshoot with me while dispatching a wrecker out. He agreed it sounded like a battery issue and gave me a reasonable timeframe to expect the tow truck. Knowing I was only 5 min away from the venue our truck was, I asked if it was safe for me to try to jumpstart it with my personal vehicle. He agreed it was but offered to leave me on the route list in case it was not the battery. We were able to get it jump started and I called to cancel the service request. He was so kind and reminded me to keep the truck running until we got to our final destination. I highly recommend this company. read more

Have you ever had the thought, "wow...this day couldn't possibly get any worse" Well you haven't done business with Wingard Towing Service before Let me explain Imagine you were driving to work when you get into a head on collision. Within 10-15 minutes of this collision you realize you no longer have a source of transportation, you may have serious injury to yourself and others, and oh yeah...someones towing your car as your giving your statement to the cops and talking to your insurance company at the same time. You take a picture of the side of the tow truck so you'll at least have a name and way to contact them once you're done giving your statement. Well it turns out that the phone number on the side of the tow truck isn't even in service anymore, the line is literally disconnected. 803-764-1218 3750 Gibson St. Columbia, SC 29203 All of this information above was OBSOLETE when they decided to take YOUR car without YOUR authorization, and YES this is YOUR CAR. LEGALLY. You've had it paid off for several years. Title in hand. It is YOUR property. Not only was it YOUR property, but the things inside of your vehicle were YOUR property as well, which was now, no where to be found. The literal keys to your home are still in the ignition, because all of this happened within a 10-15 minute time span. You literally cannot get into your home unless you find out where these people took your car. So then you do some digging, call up a few Wingard Towings in the area and find that it wasn't even a mile away from your accident. Which does not detract them from fining you a $140 "accident" fee. A fee that MUST be paid to get said house keys. MUST, no negotiating, no remorse, it is a must. They have officially monopolized your property and turned it into their property. You tried talking to them about how you did not authorize it being sent to their lot, that there was no communication made between the tow-er and driver and how you legally own the car and they cannot scrap it. After trying to reason with them, you give in and tell them you'll pay their $140 fee. SIKE!!! It's actually $147.5 with card (lol) she says Which you addressed to the front office that the board to the right of you says its $5 for a credit card transaction fee Which she then charges $5 for instead of $7.5 Bringing you to a total of $145 After paying the fee you ask if you can bring your moms car into the towing lot so you can easily remove and gather all of your things. Not possible, but in their defense they did let you use a cart they had on hand so that was cool. The next day (Today, April 5th 2023) you look for companies trying to buy the car for scrap, you get some offers but can't sell to them because you still have a storage fee that needs to be paid off. So you call Wingard Towing Service located in West Columbia because online it says its open 24 hours You get in contact with the front desk after several calls and they tell you that 1. She didn't have to answer your call because they close at 5pm 2. You're being short with her and she doesn't appreciate that and 3. You will have AT LEAST a $60 storage fee if the scrap company comes and picks it up tomorrow. Tomorrow being April 6th 2023 Granted, this all happened to you YESTERDAY. April 4th 2023 In your mind you are already thinking, "this doesn't add up" You tell her on the phone that it will not have even been in their lot for a 72 hour period They tell you that per their policy, you get the first 12 hours on the lot free. In their system your car arrived at 11:49am April 4th 2023, meaning 11:49pm April 4th 2023, they could charge you for all of April 4th, and they do. 11 minutes of storage on Apr 4th Literally 11 minutes, no remorse, another day has now been added KEEP IN MIND YOU DID NOT AUTHORIZE WHERE YOUR PROPERTY WAS GOING IT WAS TAKEN As I write this, I dread that I still have to work with them for the next few days to come. Bottom line, if you get into a wreck, and it's Wingard Towing Service hauling your car away, you're in for a rough day. read more

Blew out the sidewall on our car's rear tire, car does not include a spare or jack. Problem? Nah, no problem. Call Wingard towing! Their dispatcher was very friendly, told us the very competitive rate, and gave an accurate arrival time estimate. Driver was very friendly and accepted our credit card with his mobile ap. I didn't end up actually needing a tow-- they were able to jump my car using the tow truck-- but had I needed one I am sure they would have done an excellent job with that as well. They were the second towing service called by my insurance company to tow my car at 3:00 am today. The driver was very respectful, helpful and courteous. Gave me recommendations for the best body shop to suit my needs for car repairs. He communicated clearly with me, followed my instructions on where to drop my vehicle in the parking lot and explained a few things I should look out for in the event I have any issues with my vehicle. No one wants to deal with an emergency tow for their vehicle in the middle of the night - and an unkind service person - which was the case with the first one my insurance company called! Our college age children had car trouble the Sunday after thanksgiving, on I-26, three hours from home, and the car was undriveable. We called Wingard's and they towed the car within a couple of hours to a car repair facility nearby and later made a follow up call to make sure our car was being serviced properly.
