This year, I wanted to ask a few questions about my taxes before moving forward, so I asked if I could schedule a brief meeting. Dan immediately told me, "No, that's not how I operate." It wasn't just the answer that bothered me--it was the way he said it. He came across as abrupt and rude, making me feel like my questions weren't welcome. As a client, I think it's reasonable to want to understand my tax situation and ask a few questions before having my return prepared. I was essentially told that if I wanted him to do my taxes, I needed to simply drop off my paperwork and that was it. There are many tax professionals who not only do quality work but also take the time to communicate with their clients and answer questions. Because of my experience with Dan's attitude and lack of customer service, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend Sutherland Tax Services.

I was again using Turbo Tax in this case I upgrade even to TurboTax premier and the tool told me I owe 8000$ (Federal and State together). I thought this cannot be and I called TurboTax service hot line and I got a bunch of links and videos which did not help at all. Afterwards they told me to complete a survey. I saved my time and learned my lesson. TurboTax might be good if you know what to do but the tool and service people do not help you if you are missing knowledge. So I started to search for a Tax Service office and I found the Premier Tax Service well rated but not many reviews. On top of that it is around the corner, so I thought let's give it a shot. I made an appointment to drop off my paperwork and I was told next week to get another appointment to complete the report. The appointment did not happen, and I was moved to the next week where it again did not happen and I was moved to the next week where it again did not happen because if remodeling of the parking lot. The remodeling was really ongoing I have seen it, it was not a excuse. I admit I got a little bit impatient and thought man you should maybe go to another place. At the end I figured out the first appointment moves happened because of the small business tax deadline which is at March 15th. Long story short I got a $2000 refund instead of paying $8000. You might see it was worth the wait. I will for sure go there again next year. Side mark I paid a little bit more than the estimate but again I made basically $10K. So what's the point paying more?

He made me feel like I came to the right place immediately. And I left. Extremely happy ... expected to be crying, and I did, but with relief and joy. He explained everything as he was going thru each section. He knows what he is doing and I will be back year after year. Sure, here's a polished and professional version of your review that maintains your tone and…read moremessage: It's unfortunate that I feel the need to write this review after nearly seven years with this tax provider. Over the past few years, I've increasingly felt that I wasn't receiving the level of attention or valuable insight I needed--especially when it comes to saving money on taxes. I keep my documents very simple and well-organized, so my tax preparation isn't time-consuming. Despite that, I've been charged nearly $400 for a basic return with one W-4 and a few expenses, which feels excessive. When I've asked for guidance on how to better adjust my W-4 or plan ahead to avoid underpayment, the responses have felt vague and non-committal--more of a "try this, try that" approach rather than providing a solid strategy. Over the years, I've referred several people to this provider, even while questioning the high cost myself. I'm confident that even if my tax situation became more complex, I'd still be charged the same flat rate, without any additional support or deeper review of my circumstances. Ultimately, I'm looking for someone who will take the time to evaluate my lifestyle, income, and overall financial situation--someone who can provide proactive guidance in today's ever-changing tax landscape. It's time for a change. After email exchange expressing my situation, I was told I had four days to download all my documents from a portal and it was all very negative and aggressive communication from the owner. After seven years plus working with this provider directly, I was hoping for more of a compassionate response, but that was not found.
