My first choice - a "protein, low carb" alternative to the classic burger - proved rather unpalatable: A poor excuse of a patty squeezed in between loads of iceberg lettuce, a bit of avocado and onion, some sauce. The patty - I'm sorry - tasted revoltingly of cheap beef. And wasn't properly prepared (i. e. fried at too low a temperature). I returned the offending dish - and was treated very professionally: My complaints were heard, no excuses were made, I was offered a different burger. Chicken this time. The second try - which turned out not be chicken, but more of a traditional cheeseburger with avocado - was better, alas, couldn't stand up to most burgers I had in my life. (A few, ahem.) Again, the lacklustre patty wasn't doing the trick. The accompanying sweet potato fries were Ok. As I mentioned before, the service was fine and friendly. The whole place is a self-service affair with a nice design. However, not accepting any credit cards is - in these days - an absolute no-go. I shall not return.

Been traveling through Germany for five years now and I am excited that the Frankfurt and Mannheim area now have a great burger option! The patties decently seasoned no crazy German all spice that you might find at the local Imbiss. The buns are toasted and buttered. The lettuce onions and tomatoes are fresh and tasty. The house sauce is not overwhelming. A great tasting burger and saves me from flying to CDG or LHR for a burger.

Situated right near the B38 in Gorxheimer Str. this diner style restaurant was modeled after the interior of a 50's train car. Seasonally matched American evergreens welcome you when you enter Benjamin's and are greated in English by one of the staff members. Seating is quite comfy and casual just like you would imagine it. Red leather benches mix with heavy wooden tables. Inside you can also find a large bar where you can enjoy drinks you would otherwise only find in the U.S.: Dr. Pepper, Welch's, A&W Just to name a few. The menu is quite short the selection however is great! Whether you're looking for a burger with fries (best one's you can get around here), a nice New York Sirloin Strip steak with A1 steak sauce and homefries, a nice summer salad with caesar's chicken on top, or baked potatoes filled with sour cream, you'll find it here. Desserts are highly recommended, above all the Sundae Brownie. Extremely recommended is the lunch special where you can get a burger of your choice with french fries for just 4,90 EUR. Pricing's alright, given the fast food character of the dishes though it could be a tad cheaper. Regularly the diner hosts special events such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Super Bowl buffets where you can find seasonal specialities. Reservations are an absolute must here though. The place itself is divided in up- and downstairs whereas the first one usually is only used if the latter one is fully booked or during one of the a.m. One of the few negative aspects of Benjamin's American Diner are its bathrooms. They certainly should hire somebody to fix the everlasting bad smell that has been coming out of the urinals for the last 3-4 years now. Other than that this place is an awesome choice for weekend lunch with the family or just for getting quick lunch during weekdays. I've been coming here for the past 6-7 years now and certainly count Benjamin's as one of my regular places to go.

This little gem sits on a corner in an older store front. Cant miss it! even though the smell was so good outside that I almost got hit by a car following my nose instead of looking. Don't judge me! Nisa's is called a "Hot Dog" store, but I'd definitely think of it as more of a burger joint. If I didn't look out the window, or... talk to the German-speaking counter staff I guess, I would think I was in Seattle. From the decor to the presentation of the food it oozes that more and more popular "Hipster Chic". I loved it in Seattle and I love it here too! The service style is actually uncommon compared to the rest of Germany. You'll actually order at the counter and your food will be brought out to you. I find this is a refreshing change from how often the food and drink industry in Germany insists on being completely full service. The food was excellent. I had the "Nisa's Burger" which had onion, sweet peppers, and naturally Curry Ketchup, another staple of German cuisine. I haven't put too many peppers on burgers in my life, but it was excellent here. The patty itself was cooked well-done, which isn't my favorite as that part was a little bland. Next time I visit I'll definitely ask for a medium or at least medium well sear on the patty. I encourage you order in German, as I do everywhere in Germany, but try not to make my mistake: I tried to say "Ich nehme "Nisa's Burger Combo" trying to make it clear I wanted fries and a drink, but the counter staff heard "corndog" despite my perfect German accent (not really, I'm sure I mispronounced it), so I got the burger, fries, drink, and a corndog.... I didn't eat for two days afterward. The corndog was pretty good, but nothing special and it had the absolute lightest battering of any corndog I've ever seen... but maybe that's just a style I'm unaware of as this was corndog #5 or something in my whole life. Overall it was an awesome little place. Order a burger and grab a table, there aren't many places to get an American classic done so well over here!
