Arriving from Berlin, I was visiting Mannheim for the first time in years - and I was looking for a…read moregood burger. Well, I didn't find it here, I'm afraid. My first choice - a "protein, low carb" alternative to the classic burger - proved rather unpalatable: A poor excuse of a patty squeezed in between loads of iceberg lettuce, a bit of avocado and onion, some sauce. The patty - I'm sorry - tasted revoltingly of cheap beef. And wasn't properly prepared (i. e. fried at too low a temperature). I returned the offending dish - and was treated very professionally: My complaints were heard, no excuses were made, I was offered a different burger. Chicken this time. The second try - which turned out not be chicken, but more of a traditional cheeseburger with avocado - was better, alas, couldn't stand up to most burgers I had in my life. (A few, ahem.) Again, the lacklustre patty wasn't doing the trick. The accompanying sweet potato fries were Ok. As I mentioned before, the service was fine and friendly. The whole place is a self-service affair with a nice design. However, not accepting any credit cards is - in these days - an absolute no-go. I shall not return.

Any where on the East Coast, London, or Paris I grab a bacon burger at Five Guys! Been traveling through Germany for five years now and I am excited that the Frankfurt and Mannheim area now have a great burger option! The patties decently seasoned no crazy German all spice that you might find at the local Imbiss. The buns are toasted and buttered. The lettuce onions and tomatoes are fresh and tasty. The house sauce is not overwhelming. A great tasting burger and saves me from flying to CDG or LHR for a burger.

Jamy's is a go-to spot for me while I stay in Darmstadt. I came here for work and the burgers here…read moreare by far the best I've had in town. The indoor area is well designed and fun to go to and the location is great as it's walking distance from the Luisenplatz and located near lots of fun areas. THE AMBIANCE: Jamy's has both indoor and outdoor seating which are great for rainy or sunny days, respectively. The inside is well decorated and has nice lighting and tables. It's always clean and perfect for either your friends or family to sit together and share a great meal. THE BURGERS: The burgers are incredibly juicy with clearly fresh ingredients that pack a great bite in a perfectly portioned package. The buns taste freshly made and are well buttered and cripsy on the outside while being soft and fluffy on the inside. I've tried a number of their burgers now and by far my favorite is the Double Redhead, a double all-beef patty with roasted red peppers and some kind of spicy cream sauce. It isn't too spicy and was the perfect ratio of meat to buns with a good helping of cheese between each layer. On another occasion, I had the SmokeAttack which was spicier and larger. It was roughly four inches in diameter, with a three inch diameter patty - what I'm guessing all the other reviews claim is too small a patty for them! It had layers of bacon (costs extra), grilled onions, Monterey-jack cheese, and sesame seed bun. On this occasion, the bun was also well buttered but the inside was a little too soft for me so it felt like I was eating a bread roll sandwich rather than a burger. THE FRIES: The fries are probably Jamy's specialty. I had the Sour Bacon Fries which had a good dallop of sour cream with chives and bacon on top of garlic herb seasoned fries. You get a really large serving for less than four euros that are well cooked and crispy deliciousness! It's a bit heavy on the sour cream however and could do with less. Overall, Jamy's is a great spot to go for a hearty burger or some delicious fries. I'd avoid getting both though as it can be a bit too much food!

This place is definitely bigger than I thought as through the hallway you may find a few more tables with a glass-windowed kitchen where you can see how the chefs work their magic here. Staff here are extremely nice and the place is super clean. (One thing I am still trying to get used to is flies inside a restaurant - this is the only place where I did not see any.) There are quite a few choices for burgers and you are expected to order fries separately (no set meal I guess). However, all these burgers are set to impress. Though the portion is not as big, the quality is definitely there. (For those who prefer bigger burgers, there is one in Altstadt - kind of pub like and they serve nice and big burgers.) Overall I am rather pleased with this.

Definitely the best burger I've had in Germany. It doesn't have that strange taste that German beef usually has (if you know than you know haha) .. it was real angus beef. So delicious. I know a lot of restaurants advertise they sell angus(which they don't) but this was actually sells It. the burgers are set at a GREAT price. 8€-12€- for their burgers. The staff is so kind, with smiles all around. The food, however, varies quite dramatically. The first thing to note is that the prices aren't too bad. You can get your fill for under €10 here. Their burgers and fries are delicious. The burgers especially are quite large. Their steaks are pretty disappointing, though. I asked for mine to be medium rare and it came out well done. The fat wasn't marbled and was just in one strip, even though I had ordered the ribeye (this was likely not a ribeye). The salad that I ordered was heavily DRENCHED in dressing and cheese, and there was little variety of greens and other assortments in it. My friend had ordered the Mac-and-cheese, and it was hands down the worst we've ever had. It looked very liquid-y, much closer to a soup, which initially we assumed was cream and cheese, but upon eating it, we figured out it was actually WATERY. Germans apparently don't know how to make Mac-and-cheese. I've had better $1 instant mac-and-cheeses. The waitress, though, noticed we didn't like it and ended up not charging us for it. Seriously, cannot stress how kind the wait staff is. I'd still definitely come back. Though the food varies and can be mediocre, it's often pretty good, and the experience is well worth it.
