Even with no events going on, this is a great place to rest and take in the beautiful spot. There are two entrances to the park, on Main Street and also Chatham Bars Ave.

Picture a lovely summer night when the park is filled with families sitting on blankets, dancing, balloons, after a visit to the nearby Candy Manor and a live band playing for 90 minutes. I've been coming to Chatham since I was a baby and the BEST thing about this particular park is the free band concerts that are held here. According to the Chatham Band website, they just finished up their 85th year of performing concerts. The bandstand is named after Whitney "Whit" Tileston, who was one of the popular band leaders and the one I remember the most from my childhood. Whit passed away back in 1995, so it's nice to see this memorial to him! There is a small parking lot next to the bandstand, by the Impudent Oyster, but that will likely be filled when in season. If you don't mind a walk, I recommend parking behind Ben Franklin or by Yankee Ingenuity. The park is kind of quiet most of the year, but it's a nice place to take a break when you are strolling through this quaint New England town. There are some benches spread throughout the park. Thankfully, the town has added a building adjacent to the park with public restroom facilities.

A walking path, picnic area, basketball, racquetball, and a playground. The playground is large and has options for smaller kids and bigger kids. The best part is, it is in the shade! They must have 6 picnic benches with most of them in the shade which is very beneficial. Also have plenty of park benches too. The grass area is also very nice. It's not huge but enough for kids to run around and have a good time. The big toy is aged, but still very nice and they have toddler swings. Woods and bikes…read more Brook's Park is a very rustic park that has a wide variety of things to do. Some very nice basketball and tennis courts as well as a lovely gazebo for picnics and very gentle hiking trails with soft pine needles are found within the park. The park is situated right next to the 22 mile Cape Cod Rail Trail that goes through several towns and meanders down to the ocean for those intrepid enough to brave the chilly water to take a dip. The fact that the bike path goes through towns means it easy to stop and load up with liquid or better yet ice cream. The park is well used during the summer months and is also used for X-country skiing and snow shoeing in the winter. A lovely park to enjoy some activities or just find a peaceful and quiet corner for some relaxing and reflection.

That's one of the advantages of walking a ton - you slow down and see things that have always been there but you've missed. Part of my intentional consciousness of really viewing my surroundings. The Meadow on The Cove is exactly what it sounds like - a giant meadow of wildflowers overlooking the Orleans Town Cove. Very pretty and worth checking out. Not much to do here but there are two clearings with park benches, so you can sit & rest and reflect or read in peace. There's a small parking area when you first go in (room for 5 cars) but I had the place to myself the entire time I was there. A lace like this is part of the charm of a small town like Orleans. And don't forget the bees! TONS of big, friendly, fuzzy black & yellow Bumble Bees taking full advantage of this massive field of Wildflowers. There's something very zen about watching them make their rounds. (Full disclosure: when I wrote 'black & yellow Bumble Bees' above, it made me think of the metal band Styper! And Michael Sweet, the lead singer of Stryper actually lives on the Cape. Yes, I know I'm a weirdo. But still, Stryper Rocks!)

The paved walk was in and out leading to the marsh we could see the ocean in the distance and had hoped it would take us out to it, but it does not. We met two people walking their dogs who told us about the longer second trail in the woods. So we walked back to the windmill, took the side road back until we found the green trail markers. Well marked trail that made a loop connecting with the paved trail. Another nice little walk. There are several picnic tables scattered around, a restroom, playground area, gazebo and large open field that could be used for tossing a ball or frisbee.

It's a wonderful view to take in while on the Cape. Also, for the kids, there is a playground. Be careful of the bees on the grass, especially at the windmill. The parking lot is interesting, where instead you'll just pull over, with the expectation of hindicap. Great and peaceful spot.
