If you're looking for someone who is an excellent instructor, builds high-level skills, and is also…read morekind to teach you or your children piano, you can stop here! Suzanne is incredible. After trying other instructors in the area, I was beginning to despair that I could find someone to teach my elementary-aged children in a way that was organized, positive, and had an actual long-term plan (bonus: her students' journeys are all customized to them- no one-size-fits all!). A friend of a friend recommended Suzanne; five minutes into our initial meet, my oldest turned around and mouthed, "YES!" to me. Suzanne has taught my oldest two children for a couple of years now, and their progress, knowledge, and ability to apply their musicality in other areas like ballet is amazing. Not only is Suzanne professional and experienced, she is enthusiastic and has a big heart for her students' growth. Suzanne teaches to the Royal Conservatory Program and has high standards and expectations (more than our past instructors), yet goes above and beyond to make things fun - because isn't that the way we learn best? She has games, projects, challenges, and even informal gatherings throughout the year to play piano for a small audience in order to build up to the end-of-year formal recital with a large audience. My children especially love the Halloween Recital which is in costume, has a spooky treat and snack bar, and is when they play only for one another. The Christmas open house recital is another favorite, very low pressure and everyone ends up playing much more than they planned! Over the summer, lessons are scaled back if you like and this past year was a water theme that incorporated a lot of educational projects and lessons related to great classical pianists that kept things interesting and creative. Overall, we cannot recommend Suzanne highly enough!! If you are serious about learning piano, she is the best in the area.
