School is Cool is a wonderful daycare and with plenty of options to choose from in the Brookline area, I am glad we chose this one. The staff are lovely and there is very little turnover, so you really get to know them as your little ones grow. Olesia took over as Director earlier this year and she is great, she makes such an effort with the kids activities and extra-curricular fun. This is one of the most cost effective daycares in the area, so there's no fancy app telling you what your child is up to every second of the day, and meals are not provided, but these are both things we happily live without. We initially lived in the neighborhood, and found it a convenient option as first-time parents. We moved 6 months later (about 30 minutes away), and at first, we didn't want to change schools "until we hit the next age room." Well, as we got to know the teachers, we saw that each age room (infant, toddler, preschool, pre-K) had tremendously caring and dedicated people there. There was no need to change! There were a number of reasons that we made the commute to School is Cool: the teachers and staff, the diversity of the children, the field trips, the daily Spanish class for pre-K, the music classes, and the high-level of interaction that the teachers and school have with the parents. My son absolutely loves his teachers here. We just moved and I have to find a new daycare which breaks my heart. I was very lucky when we started to look for a daycare (a year and a half ago) that I found School is Cool very quickly. Since I've been trying to find a new place where we moved I've been to over 10 places in mine and the surrounding towns, hated them all, and realized how lucky I really am how good he had it at school is cool. The teachers are amazing. They are extremely interactive with the kids, and very honest about how his day was, good or bad. When my little guy was sick once two of his teachers texted me every day including on the weekend just to check on him. All my three kids went to different locations but i knew that with the owner and her strong team of teachers no matter what location you end up choosing you will always get the same amazing care for your kids, clean premises, and variety of fun classes.Teachers are always friendly, caring and open for communication/feedback whenever you need it. Our son was enrolled in School is Cool for 11 months this year. We took him out only because we moved out of the neighborhood. He started in the infant room at 13 months and moved up to the toddler room by the end. He made friends with the other kids and you could feel the love from the teachers when you walked in each day. My two children had been attending School is Cool Child Care for about 4 years each (Hammond St. location). The place is nurturing and safe, with high-quality early childhood education, and encouraged healthy social connections. The Teachers are wonderful, caring, and smart, and the owner is very much involved. In addition, the food program is amazing and it is wonderful that our children receive fresh and healthy foods at school. They spent lots of time outdoor (always dressed appropriately, especially during winter!), field trips, parties and so on. My both children loved this place, learned a lot and made good friends they are still in touch with. I observed their interaction with the kids @Griggs park and it wasn't nice or friendly most of the time. The food is not too healthy, either. I would suggest the parents who consider this daycare to watch the teachers and how they interact with the kids @Grigggs park or elsewhere. Just last week they were coming back from the park and one of the teachers was yelling at one boy: WHY DID YOU LEAVE YOUR HAT THERE?? I'M ASKING YOU! WHY DID YOU LEAVE YOU HAT THERE?? Our six-month old daughter started at School is Cool last month and it has been a wonderful! The women who work there are such pros and have been so warm and loving to our little girl. They have completely put me at ease as my daughter transitioned from being at home full-time with either me or my husband to being at daycare for 5 to 10 hours per day. The attention and warmth shown to my daughter at School is Cool is incredible - for example, my daughter took a particular liking to one of the women at the beginning, and since then every morning I pass my daughter off to her and she cuddles her and walks around with her as my daughter adjusts to the school environment. We had such a terrible experience with this place. They lack love, attention, compassion towards kids. As I am a stay at home mom, I had the chance to go there in unexpected times. I found teachers gossiping, children playing on their own... Especially the infant room is terrible. When the babies cry, they tell each other to stand up and take care.. And the environment is not clean at all. The toys are old and dirty. And I have never seen a teacher in the infant room playing with a child. Children always play by themselves. In the transition time they put my child in the crib whenever he asked for me and cried. They were making him sleep in there as long as he wanted. As a scared child he stayed in there for 3 to 4 hours sometimes. One day I went there and found him in the hall way with another child. There was an intern with them. It was very dark because other kids were asleep. The intern told me that he woke up early so they didn't want him to wake other kids so took him outside. I can accept that part. But he didn't have any toys, books or anything else in his hands.. He was just sitting on a chair, he had another kid's pacifier on his mouth! His face was covered with food (left from the previous meal). I asked the intern when did he ate she said at 11.00, it was 3.30 when I went there so he was very hungry. I asked them why they didn't give him anything to eat, including the snacks I've sent from home. They said it's not hygenic to eat in the hall way and he is supposed to wait for other kids to wake up, this is a school rule. My son wasn't even 2 years old back then. I can't imagine a human being feeling OK with keeping a child hungry that long... I was so mad that I took my child and left. I called the principal. She showed no sign of regret, she didn't even apologize. She told me to leave if I don't like it. And that's what we did. Long story short: Don't send your child to this place, this is not a school, this is just the bussiness of a very rigid and agressive women. read more

I Don't know why out of all reviews, yelp picked the worst ones for recommended. I would definitely recommend this day care to my friends. The location is very convenient. Also there are plenty of parking spaces available: 2hours and on the meters. It's very important to find kindergarden with beds for kids. I have looked around and usually kids sleep on the floor. So for me as for mother it's important to know that my kid sleep comfortable in the bed with the sheets and blankets I brought from home (and know that is clean). They also provide (probably still have, but not sure) complimentary food: breakfas, lunch and snakes. The food there is always good, as much as can homemade food be. They cook soups, which is very important in the kids menu. Of course if you want you little one to eat special mommy's food you can bring it there and they make sure it will stay fresh in the refrigerator and will be served warm. Teachers there nice and friendly and as I know of will treat your kid like there own. They do projects/crafts every day. Learning draw, sing and dance. Its always clean you can actually see it while bringing your child early in the morning. Owner is the nicest person and loves kids. most likely that is why she started this business. I'm a little confused by all the negative comments about this place. Our daughter has been coming here for 6 months and she loves it here. The place is great- very convenient to the T. The teachers really care and communicate well with parents. The first day, they even texted me pictures of my daughter in school! They have a range of activities each day for the kids- yoga, music, art- even for the infants. They make sure that the kids get outside to the park every day, weather permitting. I receive a well-filled out sheet letting me know what my daughter does daily: how much she ate, what she did, what I need to bring. They are very flexible and understanding when our family has special needs (like that I only allow my daughter to eat organic foods that I prepare). Sure, the teachers might not speak the best English, but that's not what I need for my baby at this point anyway. What's more important is that she has attentive, caring, and loving adults looking after her in a safe environment. I never feel like I have any hesitation about this place. these people are real crooks and agree with the reviews i just read and am so sorry I didn't take my son out of there earlier. I am a single mother and the director Linda is a liar and I never saw two teachers in the infant room which according to the law should be required. I also was manipulated by the director by being told i had to pay for 2 weeks to keep him in the program and when I had brought my son there they told me that it was too late in the day when it was only 10 am....I had taken a vacation and not only did i pay for the time away i payed these crooked people for two more weeks of him not attending and they also had already filled his spot. I got a letter saying that as soon as they can they will refund my deposit and that was over 5 months ago. people like this should be taken to court but sadly I am so busy as a single working mother I haven't had the time for such things and have no time for added aggravation. read more

This is a great daycare. You can see that children are all happy. My daughter has always been very happy to go and her development has clearly been fostered by the care of her teachers. Kamelah (whom will pardon me if I misspelled her name) takes her children's development and we were definitely happily surprised to see our two-year old daughter recognize most of the letters of the alphabet when she is still not really even talking. My wife and I have had a wonderful experience with School is Cool. Our son has been in the infant room full time for four months since he was four months old. We found the staff to be wonderful. Linda the main teacher in the infant room is one of the most caring, loving people we know. Each morning my son reaches to her and smiles when I drop him off. My wife loves the periodic phone calls and updates telling her about his day. She has regularly remarked that she has seen the staff playing with our son and holding him. She arrived recently during a music class where all of the kids looked like they were enjoying themselves. When the weather is good they take them to the nearby park. Our 2 year old daughter is our second child to attend School is Cool and we could not be happier. She has been at this school first in the infant room and then on to toddlers since 6 months old and she is thriving! Not only does she enjoy going to daycare every morning where she loves playing with her friends, but she is learning so much! Kamelah and Carmen have done a superb job making the toddler room developmentally appropriate, fun, and educational! My daughter delights in sharing her arts and crafts activities with me every day at pick-up time and I marvel at her mastery of letters and numbers. At 2 years old she can identify all of her letters and letter sounds, can count to 20, and can identify numbers to 10! I attribute much of her knowledge and love of learning the Kamelah and Carmen. Our son was in the pre-school class for 1 year. We had several concerns that were not appropriately addressed and/or did not resolve so we ended up withdrawing him and we were so thankful that we did. The professionals who work here did not have a vision or approach to teaching (and communication) that aligned with our own. Our son start at 3 months in the infant room in Brookline. Carmen is the head teacher of the infant room and is a gem. All the teachers are loving and caring. They have a private instagram account where daily photos are posted and sent me a video by text when he started walking because they were as excited as we were. He moved into the toddler room at which is next to the infant room and we love the teachers there too. Communication is great and they have extra's when we forget stuff from time to time. Every child moves at their own pace and you can really see how all the kids are loved and educated. Administration is great too and the office is very responsive. Thank you Larisa! We are completely happy with School is Cool. We visited over a half dozen other daycares in the Boston area, and this was the stand-out school which we felt totally at ease leaving our son with them. We've always felt comfortable and safe leaving our son with the teachers. The days have structure and schedules; and the activities are age appropriate. Weather permitting, they get the children outdoors daily, and dress them properly. The teacher-to-student ratio is good, meaning that no child is left unsupervised.They do a wonderful job ensuring that our son eats/drinks/has on a clean diaper/etc. Our son started in the infant room at 3 months old, and has recently moved up to the toddler room at 16 months. They gave him a transition period to ease him into the new routine and he has enjoyed the changes. Having now seen both rooms and our son's progression within School is Cool, I have no problem highly recommending this day care. read more
