Three more noteworthy additions: Contrary to the Yelp listing, they do indeed take cards. The parking situation here is always a bit of a crapshoot. Maybe four or five spaces and in season it's interesting at best trying to maneuver in/out with the heavy traffic on this section of Center Street. The pricing for their stuff is definitely not cheap. If you're looking for "deals" or more discounted pricing like you can get by going to Berks/Lancaster County Mennonite/Amish farms for similar products, you're not getting that here. I stopped by Sholl Orchards to check out the local produce offerings in late summer. I was greeted by a very pleasant worker/owner who talked to both my daughter and I while we browsed. We tried the novelty plum -bubblegum flavoring in addition to berries, honey crisp apples and green beans. Everything was fresh and perfectly ripe. I often pass Sholl's when they're closed so I don't get to stop by very often, but I love supporting local businesses, especially local farmers, so I'm going to try to be more intentional with trips here! read more

I've lived in Bethlehem for eight years and only found out about Scholl Orchards three years ago from a deli owner here. For three years, I've been getting a peck of peaches specifically for making peach jam to can (home use and as gifts). They have by far the best quality peaches and somehow they are always ripe...to the very last one in the peck! That's some farming voodoo and I am here for it! Today, we also picked up a quart of plums, seven ears of sweet white corn, and a huge seeded watermelon. Yes, prices are higher than the grocery store, but this is definitely a situation where you get what you pay for I find the prices super reasonable for the extraordinary quality. If you want top quality, super fresh, legit farm-grown, local produce, this is one of the best places to go. I'm a weekly customer who buys a large order for two families. For the second time I received terrible service. I am a senior citizen who lives with a disabling arthritis that has left me with a visibly deformed right hand, arthritic wrists, and Today I also had a leg brace on because of an ankle fracture.. I brought large shopping bags, and as I lay things on the empty counter, I told them that I would be getting a large order and if they needed to move my produce to another location as I slowly collected it that was fine. Instead they let it build up on one of the only two front counters available, not packaging anything in brown paper bags during the 15 minutes I was there. when I got to the point that there was no room left. I locked eyes with one of the clerks and quickly laid it on the next counter assuming they would start bagging my order. There was no one behind me at the time, and they could easily have started working on my order and moved the last item over. Instead, as I paid you over $80 for produce I was told that I should keep my order to 1 counter. When I pointed out that there was no more room room as they had not bagged , I was told I should've stood there and waited with the basket of apples in my painfully deformed hand despite the fact that there was no other customer behind me using the counter. I understand that this is a family business and likely no course on customer service has ever been taken. Surely they see my age and my arthritis , and yet rather than offering extra help they treat me with unkindness. Kindness costs nothing. Doesn't matter how good your products are if you can't be kind to each and every customer and meet their individual needs. I feel like Scholl's is one of Bethlehem's best kept secrets, without it really being a secret. Scholl's has been delivering fresh produce to the Lehigh Valley since 1948, when this part of town was still country. Today it's located on a busy street, conveniently near Route 22 and Wegmans. Scholl's has all the fresh, local produce you could want - fruits and vegetables. They also carry honey, and flowers. Truly a feast for the eyes, the produce quality is superb. This review has been a long time coming. Three years ago I found out about Scholl Orchards. That's around the same time I started canning fruit seriously and wanted a good source of great product that I could buy in bulk. The easy answer is always a farmer, right? At least for me. I'm always looking for the next great farmer or farm stand. To be fair, Scholl Orchards isn't the next great farm stand. They've been around longer than I've lived in Philly, nearly as long as I've been alive (maybe more ) and hopefully they'll be around for generations to come. They aren't close to Philly. I drive around 80-85 mph to get there in just around an hour and a half then make the return trip immediately so I can make it home before rush hour. That's how you know their stuff is great and not just good. I drive nearly 3 freaking hours to get PEACHES! I have been to Scholl Orchard more times in the past three years than I've seen my doctor, holy man, or the gym (don't judge!). Because of my continued devotion and pilgrimages I am granted certain rights and privileges such as having my fruit ready when I get there (order ahead on FB messenger) because I order a half bushel or more. I pick through the fruit to choose the best for my needs and can return what I don't like. It's not a lot I don't like of their fruit either, I'm just canning halves in clear mason jars and want pretty jars to display and sell. And in the fall they have apples and pears galore. Different varieties for your cooking or eating fresh needs. The prices are premium but since I'm buying bulk it's still cheaper than the market for the quality I'm getting to work with. Idk many folks who will make this drive, but my fellow home canners and preservers will leap at the chance to get a flat of peaches so pretty you almost don't want to cut them up and cook them! This is a family owned business. They are serious about their shit! Don't TOUCH THE FRUIT!! Buy a basket whole, you're not getting seconds at the bottom, or ask for help. It takes a long time to get that display photo worthy like they do each day at the farm stand. And even longer to pick that fruit and sort it so that it represents their best work! I learned during my first summer how they are about touching and squeezing the merch. You've now been forewarned, encouraged, and informed. They also get non gmo corn from a fellow farmer. read more

The fruit is often exceptional and always good. This year I found the peaches somewhere disappointing but that may have had to do with the very wet weather. The customer service however is terrible. For some reason most of the cashiers that work there seem to hate their job. Their attitude seems to be we have the best fruit in the valley so we don't really care about customer service. Terrible customer service. Was yelled at talked down to by an employee. First time customer, so wasn't sure what to expect. I understand COVID regulations are stressful, but it is unacceptable to repeatedly ask a customer if "they can read" while pointing to your signs, all because it was inconvenient to you. When attempting to look at items somewhere else in the store, to be yelled at with "they're the SAME ones" was very upsetting. I have no idea what made this woman so angry today but I will not be returning. read more

The cashier was grumbling because I didn't take a whole container of apples but picked a few I liked - well if you have a certain way of doing things you can make signs or otherwise inform customers how you expect them to shop. Also, they didn't have shopping baskets which is difficult if you are getting a bunch of fruit, corn, melons, etc. So I went to the car and picked my own reusable bag and used it as a shopping basket and went to the cashier like that and she again criticized me by saying - "well, if you're buying a few items you can just start a pile at the register." Seriously?! This doesn't make any sense - there are only 2 registers and quite a few shoppers: how can each shopper start a PILE by the register?! What an archaic way of doing business! I have mixed feelings about shopping here. Most of the time their produce is the absolute best to be found, but when there's an occasional problem, they don't make any apologies for tasteless or rotten fruit. Customer service is hit or miss, depending on the day. Some of the crew is quite friendly, while others are downright grumpy (even if you are polite and don't violate any of their posted rules). At the prices they command, I would expect to receive near-perfect fruit and at least basic courtesy from the employees. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. I would still recommend shopping here because the produce is quite excellent when it's at its best, but know that it's not always going to be an ideal shopping experience. read more

Buyers beware! I purchased a bag of Scholls pears this week. Examining them at home, I found them beginning to rot. When I returned to Scholls with the decaying pears, the sellers told me that they do not give refunds. They said that their quality guarantee ended when I left their fruit stand. I left the rotten pears with Scholls, having learned an expensive lesson in consumer purchasing. My recent visit to Scholl Orchards was mortifying. Scholl is a well-reviewed establishment, so I was excited to share the experience with my family. Scholl, though, has no respect for its customers and is far from family friendly. Signs posted throughout the establishment indicate nothing more than price points--still, an ornery employee scolded me and my 5-year old niece for hand selecting three apples. Apparently, customers must ask the employees to handle the fruit. The same woman further castigated us for unwittingly knocking one apple from its display. The woman punctuated the needless attack by telling us to take our business elsewhere, and continued berating my young niece in front of other employees and customers as we left. I'm usually proud to bring out-of-town guests to Bethlehem's family run businesses, but our brief time in Scholl was humiliating.
