And it has been a joy to watch. -They are refurbishing the outside last, so don't let the old sign and tattered exterior fool you. Inside, magic is happening! -Where to start? They have an excellent salad bar. Wonderful fresh sushi. An amazing variety of wines. The town's wonderful florist shop is now moved into the building. They have dry cleaning drop off and pickup. A deli with hot food and everything a good deli needs. -Betty Ann Market just meets every qualification for a major modern supermarket, and it is here in our little town! -I try to do all my shopping there because: it is a wonderful store with everything you need at great prices, they are truly GOOD people with smiling small town spirits, and I want to support my local community. -Instead of driving half an hour away (and then back again) we have a major modern supermarket right here, just a few minutes away! (How much is an hour total travel time AND gas worth in this day and age?). So, THAT is something that we should support! -One final note: I'm a disabled veteran and I shop with my service dog, and the kindness everyone always shows to me has absolutely won my loyalty! -My service dog, Charley, sez: "Betty Ann Market! Ask about the bag left there and she told me it is my responsibility to get all my bags, which is a ridiculous answer. How can I make sure I got all my bags if she didn't spin it around to me? Now I am out about 20.00 worth of groceries. It's not so much the groceries, its the "I could care less" answer. She said this happens all the time, Well then do something about it!!!! Aldi has made some changes but not many. This location carries produce, frozen items, meat, household items and even wine/beer. They have the cheapest prices on milk as of 1/28/17 $1.49 a gallon and eggs .79¢ a carton. They do carry some name brand items like cereal, condiments and some produce items. Seasonal items are sold and are placed on clearance when that season is over. The staff is always helpful either helping you locate an item, tying to make the lines shorter or just friendly in general. You still have to rent a cart for .25¢, bring your own bags or purchase theirs. They do accept credit and debit cards as well. At the end of the day... yes, I will be back.

Columbia Market is just...groceries, including fresh produce, packaged items, meat, and dairy. There's no coffee bar, in-store bakery, or deli sandwich counter. It's inventory is much smaller than the local supermarket chains and prices are higher. So, it may not be the place where you do your weekly family purchasing, but for Main Street area residents and shopkeepers it is convenient and well stocked.

Welcome to the Cave!…read more The first time I walked into Aldi's in Belleville, I felt as if I walking into a cave. Dark Ceilings, and gray and white spotted floors. Why did they choose this pattern? Because it hides the dirt. Unlike the white square titled floors in their O'Fallon location. I find that the store in Belleville "does not" have the same inventory as the other stores. This is a huge minus in my book. In addition, I don't mind the trek to O'Fallon. (when traffic is at its minimum of course.) It is not just this store, but the employee(s) that are assigned to stocking shelves and also attend the register needs to brushing up their customer service skills. These employee(s) give the attitude that you are convincing them. Do your job correctly, or you can leave, permanently! To Aldi's defense, the cashier is not instructed to put items that they scan into your bags. That has always been the customer's responsibility. They are instructed to scan as fast a possible and move onto the next customer. At times they do this carelessly and damage food. In particular, the meats. Their fingers penetrate the shrink wrap. In closing, I like Aldi's. I am just not fond of either of the locations in Belleville.
