I was trepidatious about going to this ENT, after reading the polarizing reviews. However, since he was referred by my doctor, who is a top doc in LA who takes care of Hollywood's who's who, I have never gone wrong going to a specialists my doctor has recommended. Dr. Schnitman did not disappoint. All these comments about his bedside manner must be from all the overly sensitive group that are offended by everything. I called and got in the same day. My sinuses started as allergies and continued to be blocked for 3 weeks. His receptionist was very kind and helpful. I was put in a treatment room. I could hear Dr. Schnitman speaking with other patients, and it gave me comfort to listen to how well he explained things and that he had a great sense of humor. When it came my time, he asked me a number of questions. I am very squeamish about my nose. I've only ever swabbed my own nose for COVID testing - which thankfully I've never caught. I explained my nervousness about it things going up my nose. When he had to examine my nose, he made sure I was comfortable and ready. Then he explained to me that nose sprays like Otrivin are addictive and that they cause sinus cavity issues. He then explained that he wanted to put a cotton swab in my nostrils to numb me so he could suction out the blockage to give me some relief AND get a culture to see exactly what the problem was. Once he did the suction (which was a bit uncomfortable, but not painful), he pulled a specimen from the suction tube to send to the lab. He instantly identified it as a staphylococcus infection. He gave me a prescription for a nasal rinse, told me to use Polysporin inside my nostrils and that he preferred to wait for the culture to come back in two days to prescribe the most effective oral medication. He asked if I preferred him to do that, or guess at what he thinks it is and give me an oral med right away. I chose to wait. He was thorough in explaining everything, did not rush my appointment. The receptionist called my prescription into the building pharmacy - so I just had to walk out of his office and it was ready right away. This is one first-rate ENT. read more

This doctor is one of the best thorough doctors I have seen. The office staff is very accommodating. Even between all patients they are juggling they made time for me. Called in an immediate CT and rushed testing. Don't be fooled by other reviews. People seem to lose their patients when someone has been doing this for so long, just wants to cut through the flush and get to the source of your problem. As a Beverly Hills resident, I know that there is no shortage of amazing doctors in all fields in our neighborhood, but getting an appointment on short notice can be next to impossible. So after 3 Different Urgent Care doctors and an ENT in Santa Barbara were unable to remedy my ear infection that had been lingering for 29 days, I asked some friends who they recommended. In all three cases, these friends effusively recommended Dr. Schnitman. Not only did he personally call back after I left a message, but he was able to see me that same morning due to a cancellation. If that wasn't enough, he spent the better part of 2 hours trying to remedy and assess my malady in the most caring and compassionate way possible. I love Dr. Schnitman for being so thorough and getting to the bottom of any and all ailments I've ever had as someone who suffers from asthma and vocal polyps and often chronic sinus issues. However, my 20 year relationship with him will no longer be happening because his current dismissive, rude way of communicating overshadows any bit of his brilliance and care. If you are reading this, Dr. Schnitman, please know how much I appreciate you taking care of my health for over 20 years. But your tone and your rudeness, and volatility is something I can no longer tolerate and I would suggest folks go to someone who actually has a bedside manner. What a horrible experience engaging with this entitled rude doctor!! Wow!! I Went in with my son who was in severe pain with an ear infection and swollen tonsils. My son writhed in pain as the doctor made small talk with a person as they left. Isn't a patient in extreme pain a priority? It's not for this doctor!! He told me, "I will get to you when I get to you" ( we were the only people there waiting in examination room) After discussing what was for lunch w his secretary for 10 minutes he finally comes in to the examination room and talks to my son and I with the most rude and belittling tone that we walked out and went to UCLA hospital in Santa Monica. The worst doctor I have ever been to, and I've had to go to a lot lately unfortunately. Rude and bordering on abusive. I know this is Yelp and bad reviews are easy to take with a grain of salt, but I hope you listen to this and avoid this guy. He constantly interrupted me when I was trying to tell him my symptoms, cutting me off and interrogating me. He took a phone call in the middle of my appointment which I could hear clearly was about getting a shipment of PCR tests, not urgent or important. There was one point where I described a preexisting ear condition that he told me didn't make any sense, until I explained to him what the condition was based on what another ENT had told me. He clearly hadn't heard of it before himself before I literally had to explain it to him. We told him I was scheduled to get an MRI and he kept harping on about how there are different kinds of MRIs and badgering us to tell him what kind I was getting and when we called his bluff and actually produced the MRI order for him, he stammered something about it looking ok but we should really ask the radiologist. He then shouted to his secretary who was outside the room, when I had just told him that part of my condition is extreme sensitivity loud sounds. I will now be in pain for several days. Dr Schnitman then asked who sent us to him, and we told him the name of our well-off friend. Once we did that, his demeanor changed, and he was a bit more respectful. He has autographs all over the walls from Mariah Carrey and other celebrities, so that tells you something about what it takes to get somewhat respectful treatment from this guy. And then after all that he told me that my symptoms didn't make sense and that he couldn't help me. $425. read more

First off I would NEVER get a Covid (PCR) test here again. This was the worst experience I've ever had. This is coming from someone who had more then 80 test done for work so far. After 24hr later my nose still doesn't feel right. This doctor will take a nose spreader tool and then shove 7 inches of the q-tip down to the back of nose. All 7 inches he will shove in your nose. He claimed this is the only way to do it. NO it's not. With every medical doctors I've done the COVID tests done before has never done the way he did it. If your a artist good luck! Give yourself plenty of time to heal before performing. You will need it. You may bleed from the test later on after his test which I did. I hope this helps you deciding on using this doctor or another one who is more professional in my own opinion. read more

We needed a repeat Covid test in a pinch for a flight bc of an inconclusive test result from the day before by another doctor. We were referred to Dr. Schnittman and he went out of his way to make sure we receive our result on time, including coordinating with the courier and the lab and personally confirming the result will be in on time. Not only did he not explain what was going on with me, he had no compassion and was not helpful. While I agree, his bedside manner could use some shining, this doctor is A-1 in my books. He answered the phone himself, saw me in an hour and though he suspected right away that Covid was the culprit behind my body wracking cough and confirmed it within 24 hours. He called the next morning to see how I was and when I said my cough was better, he said what about the covid. His email had gone to spam so without his followup phone call I would not have known. So he has a prickly personality. I'd rather have that than a smooth sweet talker who wasn't as meticulous and knowledgable. Without the anti-cough meds he provided, I would be terrified right now. I have horrible seasonal allergies that lead to sinus infections every spring, and I have seen every fancy ENT in town. Finding Dr Schnitman several years ago was a godsend. His staff will always find a way to fit me in. His diagnosing process is extremely specific and effective. I once brought my husband in thinking he had a sinus infection and we walked out knowing that he had the flu, and with Tamiflu in hand. I once sent a friend who had terrible sinus pain and had seen her doctor multiple times and been medicated for sinus infections, and she walked out of Dr. Schnitman's office with the correct diagnosis and treatment for TMJ! He is old school, this is true. He may get frustrated with you when you come in three times in one spring with strep that you have been passing forth between you and your children! But he will treat you, and treat them, and fix the problem, and he always always calls me a few days later to see how I am doing! He calls just make sure that the treatment is working! From the consultation, through the procedure and followup appt's, we found him to be extremely knowledgeable, informative, patient and genuine. If you want a kind caring doctor who listens to you stay away from Dr Schitman. I had been going to him for several years and put up with his bad attitude because I was comfortable and thought he had my best interest in mind. The last time I went to him I had a problem with my ear. I came in on time and he had me waiting for so long that I was going to be late for my next appointment so I had to leave and came back. As I would tell him about my ear problem he kept cutting me off and not letting me finish he said one thing at a time but this was all related. I told him I kept getting ear infections and he said who diagnosed you and I said my general doctor and he said very arrogantly he is not an ENT. Well he cleaned my ear with water (which later I find out is bad for an ear infection) and I told him my ear was still blocked the way he talked to me was like I was just complaining about nothing. I went on with my day. My ear was still bothering me so I made another appointment. Well he cleaned my ear again with water. I was telling him my ear was in pain and my canal on my right ear was smaller than my left and he said it's just my ears (turns out it was swollen from an ear infection). I said that liquid was coming out of my ear and he said it's just water that was getting stuck in there (turned out it was pus from the infection). So I was out another $240 and still in pain. My ear started to get worse and I was in great pain I contacted my primary care doctor for an ENT referral. Well when I went to the new ENT he said I had an ear infection and my ear was full of pus. He spent 15 minutes cleaning it out with a suction device. He said to keep my ear away from water and to wear ear plugs when I showered and explained to me why water kept getting in my ear (becuae my canal was swollen and also digging in with a qtip removes the wax that helps keep the water out). The new ENT prescribed antibiotic drops and now my ear is back to normal. I rarely write a bad review but if I can prevent another person from having my experience with Dr Schnitman then this review is worth it. read more

Would give him zero stars if I could. The doctor was rude and aggressive from the minute he walked into the office. My instinct at that time was to get up and leave and I'm sorry I did not as the visit went from bad to worse. As I explained symptoms I was having, he acted as if none of it made sense and what I was experiencing, not there. He did a few test, and one thing he did was very startling and unpleasant. Never told me what to expect and seemed to enjoy my startled reaction afterwards. I finally got up and left the office. Went and saw another ENT the next day, explained the exact same symptoms to him, said what I had explained to him made total sense and within 30 seconds knew what the problem was and now 3 days later, the problem is almost resolved. read more

Hands down the most amazing doctor EVER! He actually cares about his patients in an old fashioned Norman Rockwell kind of way. He is passionate about what he does and he himself calls you to follow up to see how you are feeling, even on weekend. His office staff is also wonderful and they will bend over backwards to get you in, even for same day appointments- shocking I know.
