Dr Bellack is an oldy but goody as the adage goes. He is energetic, mentally sharp, and punctual. Overall he is up to speed on his ENT and MEDICINE. Recognize, most ENTs (specialists) will defer everything that's strictly outside of their niche. Dr. Bellack practices great medicine, and I'm a Doctor myself who will be the first to acknowledge not all are trained well in their MEDICINE. It's a requirement prior to specializing, however, a great number of specialists just toss it out. Never a good idea, primarily for the purposes of being competent to care for patients as you would your own family by understanding how the entire human body must be viewed to appreciate how one symptom relates to a completely different one. Dr. Bellack possesses our time-honored philosophy, approach, bedside manner, and delivers with the work-up and treatment plan. Prior to Dr. Bellack I had been to 6 other ENTs and not a single one could provide the advice I needed (including the Clippers ENT). Following my Septoplasty and Bilateral partial turbinectomy by a great surgeon, I was having sinus /nasal dryness with heavy post-nasal drip worse at night that would collect in my throat near my vocal cords in the morning along with hoarseness, sore throat, etc. The reality is that the PND from the sinuses was primarily created by the turbulent airflow from the air-conditioning in my home and the other component was GERD refluxing at night causing LPR (which confirmed my suspicion). Not one, but 2 separate problems. He came up with a management plan, and within 1 day I'm nearly symptom free with a greater quality of life. His nasal endoscopy, hearing testing, etc. is performed with mastery. Thank you Dr. Bellack for your incredible gift of caring for me in a time of need and individualizing my therapy to perfection. I was suffering from vertigo for nearly 3 weeks, which included a trip to the ER, I was that ill. They ran tests, Cat scans and MRI's but to no avail. My doctor prescribed meds but really, nothing touched it. The hospital told me to find an ENT or neurologist. Fine, except they're all booked up, 3 months in advance! Now I was facing losing my business. I can't drive, watch TV comfortably, walk, you name it. Luckily, my g/f started calling in favors, which eventually landed me to his office. Not only that, when she called for the appointment, she told Josilin (hope that's correct) if there were any cancellations, please call. Mind you, I'm not a patient of his but she called back with an opening in a matter of days! Talk about a great staff, they're all so polite and professional, you can tell it's a tight ship. I instantly liked Dr. Ballack, he gets down to business and zero'd in on what he believed, might be the actual issue and underlying cause but tests first. Yes, I did the empley maneuvers, meds, blah-blah but he was more interested in my ear pressure and hearing loss. Turns out, I have the proverbial potato growing in my right ear, so that didn't help matters but after testing normal, he asked a series of questions, honing in on when exactly do I become dizzy. after some manipulations, he said; You have the exact same thing as I do, it's not BPPV, it was cervical vertigo! he sent me on my way with a short list of fixes and while the visit was recent, I'm on it and feeling WAY better and after all that trauma, I'm finally able to function, thanks to the doctor. So if you have any type of vertigo issues, I HIGHLY recommend taking a short cut and call his office. I hope he can heal you, the way he healed me. He's great! read more

I was referred to Dr. Bellack by my allergist. He performed a nasal endoscopy that was quick and painless. After 5 years of chronic symptoms without a diagnosis, Dr. Bellack was able to confirm GERD refluxing causing LPR. He addresses the issue with a complete treatment plan that includes diet. After two weeks, I have been able to improve my quality of life with changes in diet, life style and medicine. The staff were friendly, hard working, and punctual as well. I liked that he actually listened to me and where my pain was coming from and what had been happening a long the time. (I was using an "ear pain reliver" recommended by my pharmacist, but It just got worse!! I visited my dermatologist. It's 10:05 I asked the receptionist when I am going to be seen, was told another twenty minutes. Looking down at the handwritten appointment book on the receptionist desk I see bookings every 10 minutes. With several waiting in the waiting room. Receptionist told me they started today at 8:00 Am, by the end on the day he must keep his patients waiting for hours. Finally saw the doctor at 10:30. Nice enough guy. I told him an hour wait was unacceptable. He apologized for the wait. We all know how long it takes to do what we do and with over booking makes more money with no consideration to the patients. I would have gave four stars because Dr. Bellack's work was great, but some misinformation disappointed me. I have had ringing in the ears for a while now and my mother wanted to see a specialist through Cedars-Sinai. When we called for an appointment, we were told he was a Cedars-Sinai doctor. We asked for an appointment and were given one quickly for Monday (we called on Friday). We arrived and although the receptionist/nurse had an personality that can be described as unfriendly yet not rude. Dr. Bellack himself was a great doctor. I was a little nervous at first because of the patient and testing rooms aura, yet when he arrived the atmosphere changed as his comical personality lightened up the issue. He was also very helpful as he explained the technical terms of the ear and body system to my mother with simple terms. The reason I gave it three instead of four stars is that when we asked the receptionist if she could validated for the cedars Sinai parking, she said she could not because he is a private office doctor who works in Cedars-Sinai towers. This threw my mother and I off track because of the earlier false information we were told. Overall great visit with the doctor. read more

I was referred to Dr. Bellack by my doctor when I had a horrible ear infection. I had hearing loss and also tinnitus which was driving me crazy. I had already gone to see an ENT near where I lived at the time, but all he did was look in my ear with his otoscope, make sure I was taking antibiotics, and said to wait 2 weeks and come back if it wasn't better. When I saw Dr Bellack, he actually did other testing (eardrum compliance and hearing testing) and saw that I had partial hearing loss and the eardrum was extremely stiff. He was concerned about the hearing loss so he put me on high dose oral steroids (which I wasn't happy about) to bring the inflammation down quickly. Fortunately, it worked and I was able to taper the steroids quickly and have no side effects. The healing process was slow: I returned for a weekly appointment for 5 weeks in a row, and finally my hearing was back to normal. Because I had the hearing and compliance testing done weekly, I could see that I was getting better, which provided some reassurance even though I wasn't completely healed. Dr Bellack obviously knows his stuff, and he also has a good bedside manner and sense of humor. I will definitely be back if I have ear nose or throat issues. read more

Dr. Bellack is an experienced ENT Pro with a very direct, yet friendly bedside manner. He listens carefully to what you say, asks you the right questions and carefully diagnoses your condition with a great deal of skill and confidence. He has over 30 years' experience and he is a very intelligent man and I believe an excellent doctor. His office is a no-frills kind of situation but it certainly is clean. Although unremarkable it is comfortable and certainly adequate. He's doesn't seem to be interested in putting on airs or image building. In fact, he was surprised that I found him on Yelp as he does not seemingly follow his own listing. His staff is also alert and congenial. I have a bit of an issue with people who give bad ratings to doctors based on their inability to take appointments on schedule. Albeit frustrating for such patients, many doctors have clients that come to them with urgent needs that have to be addressed with priority. My wife had an urgent problem that wasn't an emergency for an ER, but nonetheless needed to be addressed with haste. So the fact that she was squeezed in for an appointment within a few hours of calling and ushered into the doctor's office within 20 minutes of arrival, obviously might have delayed another patient. Magnify the same situation that 2 or 3 times per day and you have a doctor that is behind schedule by an hour or more. This is a frequent and common occurrence with many doctors and certainly is not a reason to give them a low evaluation. In my opinion, evaluation for medical services should be based on the quality of care and medical aptitude that the doctor demonstrates and to a lesser degree, his or her personality. Being able to see you when scheduled is great if it happens to work out, but it's not an appropriate criterion for evaluation of a professional service and negative ratings. The man is an excellent doctor. That's what you need to know. read more

Came to this ENT for literally ear, nose, AND throat issues and I was really pleased. The wait time was super short, and when I saw Bellack, although he was speedy, he was very attentive. And funny! I didn't feel like I was being rushed, but at the same time it was clear he didn't need a lot of time to figure out what the issue was, and once he had, he gave me my prescription and sent me on my way. I'll definitely return if I ever need to. If you're new to LA or you need a new ENT, this is a great place to go. Warning: try not to park in the cedar sinai parking garage. They don't validate and it's 2.25 for every 15 minutes. There are tons of nearby meters that are going to be way less expensive. read more

I was referred to Dr. Bellack to check my ears. Unfortunately I caught a bad flu and my right ear got infected. after taking antibiotics and some ear drops, the problem was gone, but I could still hear some hissing noise in my right ear and that was why I went to see him. Dr. Bellack is very caring, and at the same time very very funny! I love his sense of humor. He ran the hearing test and checked the pressure on my ear drums to make sure everything was okay. I am so lucky to have found Dr. Bellack - I stumbled across his name on my health insurance website and he was one of the only doctors to have reviews at all (and they were stellar), so I called and booked an appointment with him immediately. I'd picked up a wicked ear infection in Guatemala and was fully deaf in my left ear. Dr. Bellack really knows his stuff! He's friendly and quite funny - he makes the office visits pleasant. He's also a surgeon and actually does regular medical missions to Guatemala - go figure! Anyway, it took a bit because the infection was terrible, but Dr. Bellack was able to ease my nerves about my hearing loss and now I'm feeling 100% better. Dr. Bellack is one of VERY BEST doctors in all of Los Angeles! For years, I had persistent sinus infections and terrible long lasting colds. After an awful experience with a top ENT at a major medical center in town, a co-worker turned me on to Dr. Bellack. In one very short appointment Dr. Bellack determined that I had allergies, prescribed a dime store nasal rinse and I have not been sick once in the four years since I saw him! Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience here. I had two sinus surgeries with Dr. Bellack within two months of each other after the first one provided me no relief for my chronic sinus headaches. For months he told me to take Mucinex and use a humidifier and joked that if I lived in a humid place like Florida I would heal faster. I liked his personality and trusted him but when I had no relief after my second surgery I went to Dr. Kennedy at UPenn who had to perform a third surgery, partially to correct the first two. I had major scarring from Dr. Bellack's surgery and to this day have severe sinus problems from it. Do not go here. read more

Avoid. Unbelievably condescending and rude. I waited about an hour before Dr. Bellack barely paid attention to my concerns, giving me the most generic advice imaginable. When my symptoms did not go away after 2 weeks, I called Dr. Bellack who repeated the instructions and recommended further over the counter medications. My doctor (who had referred me to him) was shocked to hear that Dr. Bellack had not recommended an x-ray or cat scan for my symptoms after our first visit. His negligence set me back weeks. It might have gone down better if his bedside manner hadn't been so atrocious. I have had dozens of doctors & specialists over the years and have never been to one who displayed such obvious contempt. My doctor, who is of course not an ENT specialist, prescribed a cat scan and partially diagnosed my problem. The next ENT who he referred me to was a dream (and is located within the same wing of Cedars). She identified 4 possible causes (up from Dr. Bellack's 0) of my chronic problem and thoughtfully prescribed treatments for each of those causes. The other doctor was a great reminder that there are thoughtful and caring docs out there. read more

I've been going to Dr. Gary Bellack for at least 30 years. He is a wonderful doctor and great person. He's the only ENT I ever went to who knew the root of my continuous coughing was acid reflux and not just allergies. Went him three weeks ago for a bad-ass cold...Couldn't breathe at all...full of phlegm. He cleaned me up at the office and put me on strong type of sudafed, ear drops, a special type of Netty pot with medicine in it, and gargling with salt water 4 X a day. Also forced me to buy a cool water humidifier that took the actual crap out of the Los Angeles air. It took two weeks to get over the cold, but I was much better after two days of following his therapy. I'd recommend him to anyone and everyone. He has a great bedside manner and is a very busy man. I was seeing Dr. Bellack for years for NY intense allergies and sinus issues. There were times that my allergies/sinusitis became so unbearable I would cry. Every time I would go to him he would say take Mucinex D and stay away from fans/ACs and would put a cotton ball soaked with Afrin in my nose which would only provide relief for a little less than 24 hours. I even asked him if he thought I would benefit from surgery and he said I dont need it. He checked my nose one time and said I have no nasal polyps. Finally I went to see another doctor for q second opinion after my friend had gotten the surgery for his deviated septum. This new doctor put a camera up my nose said that I have a deviated septum and massive nasal polyps and needed surgery. Its been a little over a week post surgery and I've never felt better. My allergies dont even bother me I havent woken up with a stuffy nose this entire week and havent sneezed once. This used to be a routine thing for me waking up stuffy and sneezing one after another. Now I know why they say get a second opinion. read more

I wish I didn't have to write this negative review, but... I have been a patient of Dr. Bellack for years. My appt. is always at 4:00 p.m. and I always have to wait at least 30 minutes, which was not a problem. Dr. Bellack now shares an office with a Dermatologist. A patient checks in for his 4:00 p.m. Dermatology appt. and says he needs to make an appt. to see Dr. Bellack. The senior receptionist, Sylvia, offers him to see Dr. Bellack after his Dermatology appt. Hmmmmmm. I am the only one in the waiting room so I know I should be seen next. The guy gets out of the Dermatologist office at 4:20 p.m. (my appt. is supposed to be at 4:00) and Sylvia started to lead him to an examining room. The guy said he had to reschedule because he had to be somewhere at 5:00 p.m. Sylvia was going to give this guy my appt. for no apparent reason. This guy didn't even ask to be seen that day. Why Sylvia? Why? When I brought this to Dr. Bellack's attention. Nothing......I also brought this to Sylvia's attention, and all she could say was, that other patient wanted to be seen and she is glad things worked out. Seriously Sylvia. You couldn't force yourself to apologize. Wow. I wasn't seen until 4:30, (1/2 hr after my appt) and you thought it was appropriate for me to waste more of my time by giving that other patient my appt time so I probably wouldn't have been seen until 5:00 p.m. (one hour later). Why Sylvia? He didn't even ask to be seen today. Why Sylvia? Dr. Bellack is a good doctor, but this was ridiculous. "I'm glad things worked out." Seriously Sylvia. read more

I have a zero pain tolerance and I am the biggest coward. I met with Dr. Bellack for the first time today. He has a great personality that made me feel as ease (or at least as at ease as a person like me could possibly be).
