DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. We purchased our home with what was described as a "premium" home warranty, which seems to require us to use Schneider for all HVAC issues. Unfortunately, our experience has been very disappointing. The first time we called them for an AC issue, we paid the required $100 service fee. After diagnosing the problem, we were told it was not covered under the warranty and were given a very high repair quote. We ended up hiring a different company. More recently, our heater was not warming the basement. Again, we paid the $100 service fee for Schneider to come out. Two technicians arrived, one was in training and spent less than 20 minutes inside inspecting the furnace. They told us the damper was not working and that it was not covered under warranty. We were quoted $500 to replace the part, with the warning that the cost could increase once work began. The guys remained outside talking to my husband about deer hunting for quite a while. After the visit, we received a bill for $205 -- more than double the service call fee. When we questioned the charge, we were told it was based on GPS tracking showing the technicians were on our property. My husband explained that a significant portion of that time was spent outside discussing deer hunting and other chit chat and not to mention one of the technicians was in training. We do not feel it is reasonable to be billed for time that was not spent actively diagnosing or repairing our furnace. He offered to pay half but they refused to resolve this issue. There was no flexibility or willingness to review the charge. Based on our experience, we would encourage homeowners to definitely consider using another company, which we did at a extremely lower quote to replace what was explained to us, as a simple part replacement. Or get clear details on Schneider's billing policies before proceeding with this company. They are a huge rip off and seem to get away with it often by their rude demeanor over the phone. read more

Schneider doesn't stand behind the product they sell. They know of parts that are going to fail within the furnace before the product goes out the door to get installed. They just want you to keep spending money to have the part repaired. The heater started blowing cold air 14 months after the product was bought and installed. Turns out the inducer went out - which shouldn't happen to a furnace 14 months old!!. Through the inducer, water is getting in because it has no outlet out. And no the drainage tube doesn't apply to the inducer. The technician told me that this is a known problem!!!! And he said that essentially it's going to keep happening. So every time this happens it's going to cost me $400 while under warranty. When the warranty is done i can have the known way to correct the issue done. But don't worry Roxanne said - the parts are covered under the warranty lol!!! Mind you I feel bad for Roxanne. The company, or service manager, uses her as the punching bag because no one else will take customer calls. Roxanne is just in billing and it's the service mgr who puts the bills together. Schneider is well aware of this problem happening and DOES NOT STAND BY THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL! They were even told by the manufacturer not to do the work around to correct the issue and to continue replacing the part. Was that the manufacturer or did Schneider find a cash cow in one of their products?!! Run fast from this company. Mind you it will cost you $95 just to have someone come out - that's just for driving over. Then it costs $135/hr when they walk in your door. read more

We requested emergency service from Schneider on our AC unit in August 2023. What was explained to us for the cost of the service was not what was billed to us. The person we spoke during the emergency call explained their fee would be a $115 flat fee (discounted for "Gold Star" members from $205) plus the price of any additional parts. As that sounded like a fair price, we agreed to have them out that night. The technician was great, we have worked with him before. He arrived, assessed the issue, repaired it, and left within 25 minutes. He explained that the issue was a bad capacitor, and while he did not have the part with him, he was able to make one out of two other parts he had. Fine by me-as we have children, our house was in the 80s at this point, we were just glad to get it fixed. I thanked him for his quick service and that was that. The next day we received our bill, which was $332. $115 for the fee that they explained, and $217 for the part, itemized as "BDP-914554 OHWP291-4554 45/5 MFD AT 370V DUAL CAPACITOR". I do work with capacitors in my field, albeit on a lower scale, and they are not nearly that price range so I was immediately skeptical, but hesitant as maybe commercial parts are a different ballgame. I looked into the part myself, online, and found that it ranged anywhere from $15 to $25 if I were to buy it myself. I then contacted a trusted local business owner, who formerly worked in the HVAC field and he confirmed the price he pays for the exact itemized line I forwarded him is $23.73 plus shipping. I talked with the HVAC department at my workplace which is quite a large business in this area and he also confirmed this part is less than $30. I called other local heating and AC businesses to ask how much they charge for this part, you guessed it, less than $30. I called Schneider and talked to Roxanne in billing. I explained our conversation during the emergency call, what was explained to us as far as billing, and my curiousity in why we were charged $217 for a part that I had spoken to other HVAC technicians about that runs anywhere from $15-$25. She explained that price factors in labor, taxes, and fees in addition to the part. I relayed back that it was not explained to us that labor was tied into this cost, nor is it displayed in the invoice, despite plenty of space for it to be added. She retorted with "you don't think our technicians should get paid for their time?" I replied with, "that is not what I said, I am just stating that is what was explained to us during the phone call". I absolutely believe the technician should be paid, I assumed that is what the $115/$205 charge was included for. Not once did she apologize for the mistake, take any responsibility, or even recgonize that there was a possibility that labor was never mentioned during that phonecall. I was instead made to feel like I was the idiot for even questioning the $217 itemized line of "BDP-914554 OHWP291-4554 45/5 MFD AT 370V DUAL CAPACITOR". I told Roxanne that I will pay the bill if that's what is going to be charged, but I will be cancelling my "Gold Star" plan as I do not feel that I am benefitting from this service. Our unit was just inspected on 6/30/23. I understand that capacitors can go bad (randomly at that), and I also know that they can leak prior to failing. I do not know if the part was beginning to fail in June 2023 and if that inspection point was missed at the time. Maybe it failed from the excessive heat wave that week. She continued to inform me that not only will our warranty on the part be voided without routine cleaning, but that we will forfeit "Gold Star" service moving forward. I understood what would happen by cancelling the service. We have been "Gold Star" customers for 7 years, through 2 different houses. We had Schneider install our last furnace and AC unit, and then continued to have them come out bi-anually for their "Gold Star" plan, where they inspect and clean each unit once per year. I'm a bit disheartened that, although I've purchased a furnce through them and also used their services for this duration of time, they didn't make any attempt to make the situation right or offer any sort of remedy. I'm a pretty patient person, maybe too nice for my own good, but having worked in customer service myself-this was an unnacceptable resolution. I don't believe we should pay for services that were oversold and understated. Perhaps 7 years as a customer is not seen as "essential customer", or maybe we are not seen as a loss "only" paying $200 a year for routine service, but I've still paid nearly $10,000 over the years to Schneider, an amount I do not consider small as an average income family. I'm only sharing this story for others to consider when shopping around. When I look for places to give my business to, honesty is near the top of my list of needs. Today they've shown me that's not one of theirs. I was mostly happy with them up until this point. read more

Very poor service. I had them install a furnace and central A/C when I bought my house several years ago, to which the furnace had a problem within a month. They refused to come out when the house was down to 40 degrees because I still owed $350 on a total bill of about $4500, which I had paid off all but that small amount at the time of installation. After complaining to the chamber of commerce, another HVAC company came out to fix, and they discovered the install was done incorrectly, causing carbon monoxide issues, so the different company fixed it at no charge. A few months later, another problem, and a Schneider tech came out on a Friday night, and admitted he shouldn't be working on it because he had been drinking. I was forced to tell him to get out. On top of all this, they were very rude. Granted this was several years ago, but I never forgot the terrible service from them. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I called them that my air conditioner wasnt blowing cold air so they sent out Chad and a new hiree. They took a quick peek downstairs in my furnace and went outside and did a quick pressure check and told me that my ac unit is fine and it was just the cover that was covering my unit. I rejected that answer and then they clarified that its not ideal conditions for them to be checking my unit when its 35 degrees outside. I was frustrated that these crooks knew that conditions werent ideal and they came over anyways knowing they wont be able to diagnose the problem but was only here to make a quick buck. read more

I was very pleased with the service of our furnace on short notice. The technician, Kyle, was very courteous and efficient. He explained everything that he was doing and didn't assume that the problem was a specific issue. He did a thorough diagnosis and identified the problem. One he determined the problem, he fixed it right away. I was pleased with the service and I would use their services again. read more

We used Schneider for a few years for our furnace and air conditioner maintenance. The crew were always very nice and answered our questions. My only complaint is the scheduling system they use. They send a card in the mail with a date/time they select for your routine maintenance and if it doesn't work you have to call to reschedule. This gets you a better rate on your services if you sign up for this type of scheduling but it was sometimes a pain to have to call and reschedule the time. But we never had issues with their work and although the service was pricey, we felt confident they did a good job. read more

had them install a carrier split heat pump a few years ago to the tune of $8000.00. has worked fine until 2 months ago it was throwing an F0 fault and wouldnt cool. they sent a couple of young kids out and said it was just a mouse nest in the disconnect box and charged me an "out of area" fee and the bill was $125.00. ever since then it still throws the same fault and quits cooling of course when its the hottest day. i have to shut the breaker off to reset it. i guess i will get someone local that can fix it this time. would not recommend them. read more

Had radiant heat removed and forced air/heat put in. Not a little job by any means but they got it done in 3 days and I never went without heat the whole time (was done in Nov.) Guys were fast, efficient and knowledgeable. They explained things clearly and kept me in the loop on what was happening. Couldn't be happier, an easy 5 stars. read more

I'm in the middle with this. They installed the furnace and air conditioner "two years" prior to my purchasing the house. The first winter the furnace kept shutting down. A tech came out, checked things and said that snow had blown into one of the outside pipes shutting off the air flow. The furnace ran good for a day or two and the same thing happened several times more. I went to check the pipe outside and it was full of snow each time, but it had not snowed. I went to talk with the Schneider people directly. It was then determined that the outside piping was installed "BACKWARDS". The system was making the snow do to the extremely cold weather. What effect did this have on my furnace the first two years? Will it shorten the life of the furnace. I don't know, but that kind of stuff should not have happened. No problems since. read more

When my furnace went out they diagnosed and told me that the part I needed to repair the furnace was "obsolete" and that I would need to purchase a new furnace for $4000+. After doing a little research I was able to track down the part from another source. When I informed them of this they miraculously had a solution. I felt like they attempted to con me. My wife and her parents thought I should just buy the new furnace. I wonder how many people have fallen for something like this. read more

My furnace started intermittently turning itself off last fall. Schneider sent two different technicians out on three separate occasions to try to diagnose the problem, but they were unable to do so. The problem has continued, and when I went to the office to address it with them, they said the problem was that the first technician was not doing his job, but then they tried to sell me a cleaning/maintenance visit as a solution to a diagnostic problem. Between the lack of communication, lack of solutions, and trying to up-sell me the wrong services for my problem, this has been a terrible experience. I have been dealing with Schneider Heating and Air Conditioning for several years. The customer service that I have received there has been above and beyond than I expected. From service - to sales - install, everyone I dealt with have been amazing. No wonder they have been thriving in the coulee region for so many years! read more
