These gardens provide multiple styles and themes of gardens and areas to walk around, along with playgrounds and several enclosures for small animals including goats, sheep, owls, various birds, turtles, rabbits and more! There is also a small, but beautiful Plamenhaus. You can easily spend a couple hours walking through everything and it's the perfect place to bring your family and a picnic lunch. The museum is an eponymous museum solely devoted to Ernst Fuchs of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. Mr. Fuchs is one of the better painters in this movement. And though it is not my favorite style of art, there are def a few paintings in the museum worth having a second or third look at. But the real star here is that this was Otto Wagner's summer villa. He poured all his imagination and creativity to make this a home where he and his family could comfortably live in Jugendstil splendour. And the result is nothing less than awesome. Getting here is a pleasant 10 minute walk in Hütteldorf from the end station of the 49 Strassenbahn ..... utilizing either the Bujattigasse or the Hüttelbergstraße.

Ceilings blanketed in colorful frescos, marble columns and lacquered wooden cabinets trimmed with gold flourishes, ivory marble statues posed in life-like poses, ground level display cases featured special exhibits, contrasting colors of marble inlaid in patterns cover the floors,...I'm veering into run-on sentence territory and that's how my mind felt as my eyes flitted from one detail to the next.* Begun as an imperial treasure trove which included books and manuscripts of rulers, credit goes to the Duke of Albrecht (1350-95) for directing translations of Latin works into the country's language, and establishing a book illumination workshop at court. The oldest book now owned by the National Library is one from his collection, a Gospel Book written in gold letters and illuminated with bohemian book illustrations The current form of the building in Josefsplatz was initiated by Emperor Charles VI in 1722, and built by Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach, following his father's designs, between 1723 and 1726, during the Baroque era, with interior and fresco decorations completed post 1730 or so. The Prunksaal is the main attraction though it's note when purchasing tickets that there are multiple museums in the same building of the Hofburg palace complex. These each have slightly different opening hours so best to check exactly when you plan to be there, as not all 4 may be open at the same time. Recommend about 30-40 minutes at the state hall (really just to stare at everything) and other museums are smaller. When you get in there, there is beautiful portrait of Empress Elisabeth of Austria. She is lady Diana of the 19th century. Her beautiful gown was displayed there. What make this special is their beautiful carriage. The front display a common court carriage. They mostly black and normal use by the royal. There are a few fancy carriage what we call convertible now day. It is use for day use. Some of them like Mercedes black. It is luxury black. The most beautiful carriage is at the back. This is imperial gold color. It has awesome look with great details. You can see the seal, flower, and more. This carriage if you look at the bottom they are built with suspension to reduce rocking. Inside is well decorated. The second floor display the famous horse was use. Also the royal gown. I would recommend this museum if you visit the Schönbrunn Palace. Don't miss it.

Well it turned out that our time in town amounted to right around 36 hours, after a red-eye flight from Iceland. We needed to fit in every single thing we could in that short time. A friend who lives in Vienna showed us around, taking a walking tour covering most of the must-see places. For me, the Rathaus and Rathausplatz is definitely one of those must-sees! The film festival was still happening, and although we didn't get a chance to see any flicks (jetlag and exhaustion), we did get to spend some time in the area for a beautiful afternoon! The weather was spectacular! And all around were booths set up with seemingly endless food and drink options! How could we choose just a few!? Alas, we had to make some decisions. We sat for a while at a wine booth set up, sipping some in the sun. And when the heat got to be a bit much, we swooped in for a drink from another booth and took some respite at some standing tables in the shade. Wow, that food and drink! It is a huge set up in the Platz, and I only regret that I was unable to see any films. That would have been an experience! If I had had more time in Vienna, I would have eaten at festival grounds everyday if I could have! 100% recommend at LEAST walking through if you happen upon it.Would certainly recommend planning a trip around it! Almost any taste in food and drinks is on offer. Burgers, wraps, salads, curries, sausages, pasta et al. One could almost say there is too much to choose from. Hehe. And now to the Filmfestival... I had some idea of what the screen area would look like but I was genuinely shocked by the size and scale. The screen has to be at least 10m by 15m! Its massive! Seating is plentiful and there are stadium style seating available too. My tip would be to get there a little before the screening as it can get quite full quite quickly. There are a variety of films shown mostly leaning to the arty and theatre side but various music concerts are shown too. Worth a visit or two.
