Passau has a lot of neat little shops, and we stumbled on one while trying to find our way back to…read morethe Viking bus. Stephen immediately recognized the Marmalade shop and said its well known. It was featured on travel shows as things to check out in Passau, and it was also suggested in the "Viking Daily", the ship's newsletter.
Everything is house made. They have all sorts of preserves, from strawberry, pear, apricot, cherry, and so many more. Customers were encouraged to taste the preserves before buying, and Stephen said the blackberry was really good.
In addition to the shelves and shelves of preserves, they even had honey, chocolate sauce and mustards! One particular jar of preserves caught Stephen's eye: Glühwein! So, naturally we purchased a jar of that... And perhaps a few others to bring home.
The jellies are in glass, so make sure you have suitcase room, or plan on handcarrying it. We wrapped it well in the carry on suitcase, and it made it home just fine.
