Well because that is the name of a bakery/cafe in four of the villages located in the Wienerwald. Since my favorite town in this section of the Vienna Woods is Neulengbach with its castle, Egon Schiele connection, and Josef Weinheber poem on the Rathaus wall - this is where I get my Simhofer fix. Actually there are two Simhofer bakeries in Neulengbach but I always go to the one on the Hauptstraße (Main Street) because I like the atmosphere and the people working there. Everything is made in-house at Wolfgang Simhofer - by that I mean all their breads and pastries. They often run low on certain items so if you want a Mohnstrudel or a Nussstrudel for an afternoon Jause, call ahead! They will keep one for you. After one bite, I think you will become a fan of Wolfgang Simhofer Bakery too!

Landstrasser: this came with a variety of things: different breads, one of them was a lavender rye bread really delicious apricot jam honey butter soft boiled egg rye "soldiers" to dip in the egg cottage cheese with the most delicious olive oil and pesto carrot/radish/cucumbers to dip in the cottage cheese homemade potato chips Prince Harry: A mini pastrami sandwich on a kaiser roll steak tartare a savory french toast with green beans marinated tomatoes EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. My favorite was the apricot jam spread on anything, but truly all the ingredients were spectacular and prepared with great care. The boyfriend kept raving about the pastrami for hours after our meal. And it was incredible. I've never tasted anything quite like it in a really good way. The meat was nicely spiced and had a very smoky taste. We're only in Vienna for a few days, but I think we'll stop for another visit! EDIT: We definitely did stop in for another visit and it was equally delicious as the first. I tried a green smoothie this time, which was fantastic. Also, the croque madame sandwich. The croissant was perfection and it was really filling, but not overly heavy. A perfect meal in Vienna!

This little store is only minutes from the Krems main train and bus stations and right off of the pedestrian Landstraße. I wish Vienna had a Romanian Covrigi shop!
