From the beginning of the process there, I was honestly a bit overwhelmed with all the options I had. There were so many things I didn't even know you could customize about a suit that I could pick from freely. Emily did an wonderful job guiding me through my options and helping me pick the right choice when she could tell I was in over my head. In the end the suit I got ended up looking better than I could have imagined. I got tons of compliments on it during my wedding and loved being able to brag that it was made custom for me and I got to pick every little thing about it. I wish I could get every piece of clothing I wear from them. It was just such a dream and I felt supported from the beginning of the process through every fitting to the day when I got to take my suit home in their robust and well made garment bag. Everything about the process felt catered to me and I could have asked for anything at any time and they would have found a way to accomodate me. I can't wait to have a reason to go back to them for my next suit.

*updated stars after communication from owner*…read more I think the quality at Alan David is very good--my previous suit from them is excellent and gets frequent compliments. That's why I returned in May 2025 to order a sportcoat. Unfortunately, the customer service this time fell short of my expectations. By late August, I realized I hadn't heard anything about the order and called for an update. I was told the fabric had been out of stock and later delayed due to the factory's vacation schedule, which seemed reasonable enough. In September, they contacted me for a fitting, but the appointment date inadvertently fell on a holiday when the store was closed. I rescheduled for October. At that visit, I was told the jacket would be ready in a few weeks, but again, no one reached out. In December--more than six months after ordering--I called once more and received a text saying they'd follow up with an estimated date. When I expressed frustration about the lengthy delay, they acknowledged that the initial order had been submitted late, which contradicted earlier explanations. To their credit, they took responsibility and offered a generous store credit, which was appreciated but not expected. The reason for my three-star rating isn't the final product, which was fine, but the lack of proactive communication. I had to repeatedly contact them just to understand what was happening with an order that had been paid for months earlier. Even my salesperson at Macy's is more proactive--and I don't spend thousands of dollars at a time there. My husband has had consistently positive experiences at Alan David, so I do believe my situation was an outlier and wouldn't discourage others from trying them. They ultimately handled the service recovery well; I only wish the issue had been acknowledged and addressed earlier. My hope is simply that their follow-up and order tracking become more reliable moving forward because otherwise, you might be left with the feeling that once you've paid, nobody really cares.

There is literally a narrow line to weave thru in the event there are say more than 7 people, aside from the staff browsing throughout the shop. A lot of the good picks can be hard to buy depending on the season (i.e. there was a dope fishing boonie that was neat and the perfect size for me however it was floor model only and likely previously fitted by many individuals). This is my first time to a physical MIL surplus store as I typically shop online for them and had no knowledge before my visit that this particular one was in operation for well over 50 yrs, kudos. One thing though is that if you plan on returning or exchanging anything you should discuss all the details PRIOR to purchase. For myself, def learned this the hard way as there was some gear I bought, accessories and tees (pd in cash) but changed my mind on some of them after a couple of days. Then I checked online and their store policy is 5 days with original receipt. So I returned with my goods, namely a T-shirt and was told it is NON-REFUNDABLE due to it being "underwear" and the fact it "touches your body". I was thinking "ok..." and my face def showed it, as this was the first time in my life that I heard of a business that bent their return policy. Maybe it was because of the fact that I paid cash for my gear, not sure and the owner did not want to refund me, but I got past it. But as a heads up, if you do think you may have any sort of wrinkle with a return it prob is better to put it on your charge card so you can work it out with the issuer/card company for any disputes. Overall 2/5.

The cut of the jacket and skirt is amazing and very comfortable. The jacket shoulders fit perfect and do not pull. The cut of the jacket accentuates my waist, and is very feminine. The skirt waist is perfect, the hips are not too form fitting, and it moves with me without pulling. The color of navy blue complements and brings out the blue in my eyes. The light blue pinstripe of the fabric is subtle. The design and fabric is classy and appropriately conservative without being overpowering. It is exactly the statement I was hoping to make. I know I am gushing, but I am very happy! Being an accountant with an MBA, and having to convince CEO's and CFO's of national and international companies of my expertise, impressions are of the utmost importance. With my order arriving on Saturday, it is with plenty of time to be able to wear it to my next interview. I was a more than a little nervous making such an important purchase online, that is, without being able to try the suit on first, and inspect the quality of the fabric and tailoring. I have small shoulders and a small waist, with full hips. I have been very frustrated shopping for appropriate professional business wear. I just kept finding women's suits that make me look square and unfeminine, or that were designed for women with a larger cup size than I, longer shoulder to waist measurements, and straighter hips than I. And that were of inferior quality despite a high sticker price. However, none of my fears were realized with your suit and I will definitely be a return customer. There was a snafu on the next shipment but Jamak refunded the snafu amount without question. The suit DID fit perfectly. I really like the way the material lays, it isn't stiff or shiny or wrinkly. The cut does fit my shape very well and I will wear this suit often. The price was quite expensive but that is the cost of Made in the USA.
