My parents wanted to drive out to the bakery. I haven't been there in many years. They added a cute little outdoor furniture store beside the bakery. There were lots of homemade sturdy outdoor furniture pieces. They were reasonably priced. The bakery was well stocked. Lots of pies, cakes, brownies, donuts etc. Being celiac I couldn't eat anything. My family bought over $50 worth of bakery products. Everything was reasonably priced. The staff were super nice. Would recommend. read more

We stopped in here on vacation cause we seen all their beautiful pies, pastries and breads. Walked in the place and was so small you had to go outside just to change your mind. Yes we did buy some stuff and I have to say it was very good. But we will never go back. The young girl never said one word to us didn't tell us the amount I had to look at the register she didn't even say Thank You, so yea the service there is absolutely terrible. Next door there's an outdoor furniture place. The bakery could take lessons from that man he was so very friendly. Bout talked our ear off and we really enjoyed talking to him. But the bakery? Don't expect to get any help and if you ask a question they look at you as if you have 8 eyes and your head is on backwards. I totally get it's their culture. But when you're dealing with the public and that's your bread and butter. Learn some customer service or you'll lose business for sure. read more

I drive to the bakery every time I visit. The ladies that work there have always been friendly. The last time I was there they changed it around. And it is more open space. The bread is great. But Saturday it's all about the donuts. Come on these are delicious. It gets busy but they get you checked out quickly. Ok and you got pies, whoopie pies, pecan rolls and cinnamon rolls. The decor is like a nice backer front. read more

Oh my pies!!! The fried peach pie did a dance over my pallet while eating it. It leaves you wanting more. Cherry was very good as well.

We love this little Mennonite bakery! The best time to visit is earlier in the day, when you have more choices. Everything we've tried has been delicious. It's all made from scratch -- bread, rolls, pies, a variety of cinnamon rolls, donuts, hand pies, whoopie pies, brownies, cookies, jams & spreads... just to name a few. It's a nice place with limited items. Breads are not sliced. We purchased a pecan deluxe - didn't know it contained coconut. We are not happy with that. The brownies were delicious. Super soft! The place is easy to miss. When you see the Kentucky outdoor furniture YOUR THERE!! It's a bit hidden from the road and you can easily miss the bakery. The selection room is really small. I have always loved this bakery. Items are always fresh so of course they will run out later in the day. Get there early if you want to make sure they will have what you want. My favorites are the Apple Cinnamon Rolls, frozen oatmeal cream pies and on Saturday mornings the donuts are incredible! They had chocolate frosted glazed donuts this morning so I had to try them for the first time. They were delicious. read more

Wonderful bakery that's worth the drive! On our recent visit, we got the classic cinnamon rolls and some honey - you can get cinnamon rolls as a batch (serves 4) or individually wrapped. They had pecan, caramel nut, raisin and apple stuffed cinnamon rolls available. Lots of preserves, honey, cakes, fried pies, and brownies available as well. The bakery itself is a cute little store that's easy to miss. The ladies working the counter were very friendly, and we'll definitely be back for another visit soon! read more

Very disappointed. We moved to Clarksville recently and everyone raved about this bakery and they're "fried pies."in Chicago, the Amish always had the best baked goods. Not here. I bought 5 fried pies: 2 blueberry, 2 cherry & 1 peach, a cherry filled cinnamon roll cake and a frozen double chocolate pie. I spent $25. The fried pies seemed to be filled with canned fruit and not fried fresh that day, the cherry filled cinnamon roll cake had very few cherries in It and the only thing worth eating was the double chocolate pie, and even that wasn't anything to write home about. We actually threw 3 of the fried pies out, weren't worth the calories. I personally will not go back. read more

We missed the last farmers market and so when we stopped by this tiny bakery, we were very excited to find fresh sourdough bread. We also got a plate of dinner rolls and they were excellent. They have a price list available and the people working there are kind and friendly. A fun stop and a pretty drive from nearby Clarksville. (And close to the L&R Soda Shop in Elkton, another favorite for burgers and shakes.) We like the raisin bread and the cinnamon rolls, and we always each choose an individually wrapped treat: brownie, cookie, whoopie pie, or fried pie. Plenty to choose from! The pumpkin rolls and German Chocolate Cake are also delicious. read more

I think that the previous reviewer who gave 2 stars must be a bit unreasonable if they think that this small bakery is able to keep everything sitting out and 100% fresh all of the time. For a smaller place like this, they are doing a great job. I am sure that they make some things ahead of time to make things easier for them and to keep the public happy. Also, the people working today seemed very pleasant and were very welcoming. Today- 90% of the items were fresh. Some of the pies and cakes were in the cooler, but they all seemed to be custard based (which you would want to be refrigerated). I bought a nice batch of apple cinnamon rolls for $4.95. There was whoopie pies, fried pies, fresh bread, pumpkin rolls, honey, preserves, and a bunch more (the peach bars looked really tempting at .89 each!) I was impressed that there was a section for day old goods- there were some really tempting bread loaves for $1. You can't beat fresh bread for that price. read more

I just finished the zucchini bread that we got on Saturday. It's a ways down from Country Pantry and without the aid of phone GPS the couple miles seems to stretch out forever but it's well worth it. We came in about an hour before closing time so a lot of the shelves were pretty bare but we came away with some lemon squares and oatmeal sandwich cookies as well as the zucchini bread. The lemon square was a cool, tart treat that I ate with abandon while driving afraid that it would melt in the high heat. My girlfriend's oatmeal cookie did in fact start to disintegrate so she managed about half before she put it away. I ate the leftover after I chilled it in the fridge and it was still so tasty, especially after its firmness returned. The zucchini bread though, a combo I never really thought would be good but after having such a delicious piece I didn't really object when my girlfriend decided to leave it at my apartment. Fresh items like bread from here and cheeses and milk from the Country Pantry up the road is definitely worth the drive. read more

I went here two days ago and I make the 45 minute drive every couple of months and every thing is always fresh and DELICIOUS! A younger guy greeted us and answered all of my questions and he had a smile on his face and was very friendly! He made small talk with us and while we were paying the elderly lady baking in the back waved and smiled. Went for the first time today, we went kinda late though. They were sold out of a lot, that says a lot about the store. Bought the italian cream cake, yummy. We also bought pumpkin cream roll, cherry filled cinnamon rolls, pecan carmel roll. Eating some of that tomorrow. Should go they are closed on saturdays and sundays and the whole month of January also next door is hand built outdoor furniture. We are going back for more when we get our tax returns. This Mennonnite-owned bakery is a must visit whenever we're in the area. The cinnamon rolls are to die for, as is the homemade bread.

Schlabach's Bakery is a terrific family run bakery with excellent quality baked goods. We've bought their goods for almost ten years! Their fried pies are scrumptious and their apple butter is some if the best we've ever eaten. All of their food is prepared in a clean environment and they are more than fair with their prices. The family is Amish so their quiet and unassuming demeanor may be perceived as rude or unfriendly by some, but if you speak to them with friendly respect, you will be spoken to in a cordial manner, also. They have always been polite and congenial to us. read more

My husband was a bad, bad boy today and surprised me with goodies from Schlabach's Bakery. I love it when he's bad! The friend pies from here are awesome so he brought home a half dozen, along with a pan of cinnamon rolls and a couple of lemon squares. We used to go by here fairly regularly as we went to an auction house in Elkton, Kentucky. It's too bad that the auction house had to close because I know the sales went down since we don't make regular trips there. read more

I went with a friend and our daughters for goodies. I did learn that coming in the morning would be wise. However, the breads and treats that I purchased were so so good. My friend and I split a fried apple pie-and walked four miles that night! hahaha The girl at the counter was very polite and told us that if there was something we really wanted to call ahead and they would have it out and ready for us. Every year I buy baked goods for family and friends for Christmas. This year I decided to phone in my order for cinnamon rolls so as to make sure they would have enough (they frequently run out). I arrived to pick up order, the older man was there (as he is most of the time and never greets anyone)I tell him I phoned in an order several days ago and need to pick it up. He walks to the back, meanwhile I'm looking around, he comes back announces my total and immediately start putting the cinnamon rolls in bags, all while I'm getting into my purse getting my card. While he rings up my purchase I count the number of packages to be sure order is correct....and it was. I take my rolls to the car drive back into town, stop at one store briefly, then head home. I unload everything, then notice ALL the cinnamon rolls look burnt! I open one up and taste it (want to make sure they are edible since these are gifts) they are stale, dry and burnt! So very disappointed!! Time to find a different bakery. read more
