When I had difficulties, due to striped old screws holding the plates, he cheerfully came out, got the old plates off and the put the new ones on. Exceptional service! Rick realized that we would need air care due to the age of our car and thus saved us the frustration of several steps on our arrival home: getting a temporary permit, rushing off to get the car air-cared, and then going to the office again to renew for a year. I've been happy with them ever since. They're also willing to talk with you over the phone for minor questions (which saves you 40 minutes on hold with ICBC) They are also knowledgeable about the PWD discount. Previous brokers were clueless on how to process the letters / how the process worked etc. Last time I was in, they were helping someone from Alberta in getting a car registered in BC after her Alberta registration documents were stolen. They went the extra mile for her - she came in freaking out after a bad experience at another broker, they calmed her down, printed out forms to send to AB, explained that the process would take some time, etc. I've never had a super cheery insurance broker (not sure what's up with that) but they're pretty good folks.

The wait times can be a bit long if there's a line (they're a small operation and these things take time) so if there's more than a couple people ahead of you, just go do some shopping in the mall and come back in a bit, easy peasy. I own 3 vehicles, two motorcycles and a trailer and have renewed all of them multiple times at this location. I have never had any problem with payment not going through or any other issue on my part... I pay in full by credit card. But despite that, nearly every time I come in, this particular owner finds a way to delay or obstruct simple renewals. For example, today, May 4th 2026... I went in to renew my trailer insurance. I provided my drivers licence and told him I wanted to renew the insurance on the trailer. His response was to demand I describe the trailer in detail, manufacturer name, etc. and implied if I didn't, he would not be able to offer insurance. In the past he has provided incorrect information regarding who may or may not legally drive a vehicle I had insured, as well as generally demanding answers to questions which are not relevant. I have now decided I will not use this particular branch of the Sussex business ever again. I had no problems with other Sussex branches... only this one.
