This review is based on both lodgings and the restaurant. Rooms are rather spartan, but have all the necessities, firm beds, down pillows, and are spotlessly clean. Some rooms have a balcony overlooking the Rhein River. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Restaurant has gone downhill over the past several years and is expensive for what you get. Example: 32CHF for an asparagus meal... Basically asparagus and a few small herbed potatoes. I love the Swiss fish called "Egli", and always order fried in beer batter. Usually very delicious and crispy. For the last two times I have eaten here, the fish was very soggy and tasteless. Very disappointed as this was a "highlight" for me while staying at the Schiff! Good breakfast selection included with your stay. Rheinfelden is a cute little town dating back to medieval times (800AD). Nice to walk around as well as cross the bridge over the Rhein and be in Germany! Worth a visit, but consider some other menu offerings v Egli. read more
