There is plenty of free parking, a playset for little kids, a tennis court, and a little baseball-shaped field where dogs can roam free. (Tall fences prevent unsupervised wandering into the woods.) It's out of the way and a good place to go if you find Fresh Pond a bit too crowded or want to let your little ones of whatever species wander around without danger of getting run over by me on my bike. 8) There's a cool boardwalk that goes down a nearby hill, but it ends on private property "no trespassing" in back of the Fayerweather Street School. We have been here twice in the last week (during pandemic times)…read more Pros: - Separate Big Kid and Toddler Play Areas/Structures - Easy parking - 2 tennis courts, 1 basketball court, play area, baseball diamond, and big grass area Cons: - Often unsupervised children running amuck, while their Canada Goose-wearing entitled Moms are sitting on a bench gossiping about their lives and not paying attention at all to what their children are doing - Big Kids are often running rampant (especially true during the weekend) in the Little Kids/Toddler Play Areas If you have very little ones (toddlers, like I do), I'd recommend going during the week and not the weekend. The Big Kids who are unruly, entitled, and rude as hell will push the little ones around or rush and run around so quickly that they knock over the toddlers like bowling pins. Their parents will see and witness this going down and after each incident, will announce - "Well, it's time to go home." No apologies will ever be said or given, which honestly just says so much more about the parents than their kids. Kids are gonna be kids, but they're often reflective of their parents. ANYWAY - the play structure itself is decent. Go on a weekday, not weekend. Stay watchful of entitled Newtonian Moms.

This is a great place to take your dog. This dog park is pretty big. My dog loves this place. The…read moreonly thing why I cannot give this dog park a 5-star review is because I wish it has a water fountain in the park. Sometimes I forget to take a water bottle for my dog and if nobody brings water, dogs are thirsty. In other dog parks that I have been to there were fountains for dogs. It was in Florida tho. Overall, this place is good. During the winter, the ground becomes super slippery like on the skating rink. After the rain, it is kind of dirty in there. My dog looks like a pig. But those are weather conditions and it does not relate to my review. It is just a sharing of the experience that people can be prepared for it.

I recently discovered the Dedham Recreation Park and it is such a great place for anything…read moreoutdoors! The recreational space, including a baseball field, canoeing area, a walking / jogging trail, an open field, a dog park, and a function room / recreational facility for the Town of Dedham sit along Route 135 (Common Street), close to the Rt. 128 break (exit 17). The facility is great for a whole family, or for anyone looking to canoe, take a walk, or have a place to bring their dog. Everything is positioned strategically, therefore each feature is spacious, and usable to anyone. The baseball field is practically brand new, the canoeing area also very new, with a full lower deck parking zone for anyone. The walking and jogging trail (check it out with others at: dedhamtrails.org) are also accessible via the top or lower deck lots, and very lengthy, tree lined, and pleasant to take a walk or jog (my favorite form of exercise). This trail may look short and futile, but believe me, it is long and you must continue to follow the little green "Dedham Trails" signs to continue on the trail. The dog park is also super large, and visible from Common Street (as it lines right up with the street). The park is large and is much more dog friendly than some of the other nearby parks (like the annoying Sharon Dog Park....), having lots of places for people to sit and walk around with their pets. I don't really know what the building with the function room is used for, but its normally closed (during both of my first experiences here). I will definitely be returning to walk often (or use the dog park). It's definitely one of the best parks in Dedham, out of the five or so that currently exist. Definitely a great place to bring the whole family! 5 stars for the Dedham Recreational area.
