I really enjoyed my time at the nursery the staff was very helpful and the inventory was well stocked and in good shape.

I reached out via email for lawn services, and never received a reply. This is the second time this happened. I lived at the lake a few years ago and asked them to come out and give me an estimate of landscaping my yard. They came out, took notes, and I never heard from them again. I give it 2 stars for selection of plants and trees which is pretty good for San Angelo, but can't give 5 stars because of service (lack there of) I purchased almost 30 trees and had most of them installed. It's been over a month and no follow up....no information received about watering or care of trees. No call for questions or thank you for business. Would think someone that spent over $5K on services would at least give you one follow up call. read more

Paid for sod landscaping for my mom's front lawn. They did the work pretty fast, which is not exactly a good thing. It was rushed and we were charged for an equipment fee that wasn't used (I can only think it was for dirt leveler). Because of the rushed job, the sod was layed with many gaps in-between, which created pocket holes. The dirt wasn't prepared as I would expect. I tried to address this with emails and a couple of phone calls. The response wasn't exactly immediate until I informed them that I was going to leave a review in Yelp with pictures. They solution for the pocket holes was to fill them with sand - which in time would fill in. They came and did that. San Angelo doesn't have many options for landscaping but regardless, attached are pics 1.5 months later. I'll post another update after a a couple of more months. read more

Although I live in Austin, I have enjoyed helping my mother in law who lives in San Angelo with her backyard garden for 30+ years. In those years, we have often visited the Scherz nursery for plants and sometimes roses; maybe 15 times. But they don't seem to have the nice people running it that they used to. Two months ago, we visited and purchased a somewhat overpriced rose bush that was quite beautiful. The cashier assured us that Scherz has a six month replaceable warranty on all its roses. That helped since the bush was priced at $29. Neither my mother in law nor I are new to roses. I have been in the Men's Rose Club of Austin and her yard is full of roses; some ten years old and thriving. Last week she called Scherz because the bush never really made it despite a well prepared bed, a little seaweed in the water the first week, and significant loving. She had the receipt and called to make sure it would be ok to bring it in for a replacement. The man who answered at Scherz spoke harshly to her and said that he had no idea if the rose bush was taken care of properly and would not honor the guarantee. I'm not sure if this is an example of merchants who are rough and condescending to old people or if this company is just plain slimy to all of its customers but we will never return or give them a dollar of our money. I asked her if I could follow up and call ( she called them twice ) and this is what she emailed me back yesterday, "I'm just not doing any more business with Scherz. The guy I talked to at Olives was much more helpful and friendly. I'll keep my business there. So, please let it go." read more

Great service! We purchased a home without landscaping. The front yard had a large area we weren't sure what to do with so, we decide to give Scherz a call. Jeff came out listened to the types of plants we liked and offered to draw up a design for us. Wow, it was beautiful and he even picked plants that would receive partial sun (needed for a few areas). At the nursery he took us around and showed us each plant and listed the pros/cons. We agreed and once the crew showed up to start working they were great, setting the plants out first and allowing me to review before the first hole was dug. I requested to move a plant and add one more and they were patient and professional the entire time. Jeff even stopped by before the crew was done to ensure I was satisfied and answer any follow-up questions I had. Great customer service!!! read more
