Working with this firm in my office was a huge mistake. I discontinued our contract with them after not being able to reach out to the company via phone or email on numerous occasions. My wife and I purchased a dental practice almost three ago and signed up for SI's services from the start and are so glad we did. It's like having a personal trainer for your practice! They provide a proven system of structure and accountability towards so many of a business' avenues, from the patient (client) experience to clinical tools to financial best practices and goal setting. Just like a personal fitness trainer, you get out of it what you put into it! You have to do the work! Their trainers are impeccably trained themselves and seemingly always have a good answer to questions posed by any type of team member you may have. The trainers are friendly, knowledgeable and very good at reading your team members to adapt the training so that it's understood by all. The rest of the SI accounts/events/etc teams are also absolutely wonderful! They always have our back! I've read the previous reviews on SI and Jay Geier, and as a business owner I welcome Jay's no-nonsense approach towards his presentations and his business. There's a fine line between arrogance and confidence and Jay is a very confident person, as he and any successful person should be. This is the first "if I could give negative stars, I would" review I have ever given in my life. In January, I was hired by a wonderful pediatric dentist as their marketing director. Within 3 weeks, I was sent to "training" at the Scheduling Institute. I knew something was amiss within 10 minutes during the first session, when, as we paused to answer one of their inane questions, we were scolded and told "If you guys won't answer our questions, it's going to be a VERY long day!" The heck? Who talks to a room of grownup women like that? Women at your "training" center, who came to learn about how to improve their businesses? I tried to ignore it as a one-off event, but it kept happening. Treating us like a bunch of middle-school kids in detention. Plus, the material is incredibly boring, repetitive and oftentimes confusing and contradictory. We were given huge binders full of misquoted famous people and blank space. At the end of the session, we were given thank you notes and made to write our doctors, thanking them for the opportunity to attend the "training." I can't make this up. Had an in-office telephone training a few months later, which was a complete joke. And the "trainer" scolded us again when we as a group took longer than 7 seconds to answer one of her annoying questions. Plus, she threatened to "tell Dr. _____ if you guys are participating or not..." What the heck and who does this? Then, our staff was belittled for not following the stupid and possibly illegal "script" that SI gives out. We are getting plenty of new patients regardless of following their "script." It burns me up to see warm, competent, professional staff members receive one and two-star reviews for these abhorrent "mystery calls." Back to ATL a month later for some more specific training, and a huge positive was meeting other office staff members and hearing the guest speakers. The SI staff were lurking in the background, watching us closely to make sure we didn't escape. One of our practice's account managers came up to me during a break and asked an extremely personal question about my boss. Why, SI, why? No class. During other breaks they were begging people to submit video testimonials (they had set up lights and a camera in an area by the break room.) NOT ONCE did I see anyone in front of the camera. The staff were desperately trying to recruit people to "just give a quick review for us!" No one was buying it. Did I mention that this program is incredibly expensive? Hoo boy. Another in-office training a few weeks later, and this really was the tipping point. The "trainer" was rude and loud, and what did it for me was when she suggested we withhold a planned future staff reward event for meeting our year-end numbers, (which we are on-track to do) and make them even higher. WHO MOVES THE GOAL POSTS IN THE 3RD QUARTER? SI. I was gobsmacked that this was even suggested. Our staff is working so hard and is so dedicated. That did it for me. The Scheduling Institute is a terrible company that wants to train you to scam your patients. Regardless of how many times we tell them to stop calling our office they refuse to stop. The send us snail mail pamphlets, and brochures, and letters from other dentists "singing their praises" almost daily. Ever other week or so they send us a package via FedEx packed full of crap. They also record 'mystery caller' calls of our staff and then mail our dentist a CD of the call saying how the staff Received an "F" grade because we did not lie to the 'potential patient' about accepting their insurance. Or we receive and "F" grade because we took the time to talk to the 'potential patient' and actually cared enough to answer their questions; instead of scamming the patient to come into the office to find out that we do not really accept their insurance. Our Dr. listens to the mystery caller CDs and then laughs and tells us what a great job we are doing. We have even started refusing packages from the Scheduling institute because we are so overloaded with their crap that we can not throw it away fast enough. We literally received three separate mailers from them today. All the reviews from offices who have paid the Scheduling Institute say how ridiculously expensive their seminars and training are. All I can say is they must take a huge chunk of the money people pay them and put it into marketing. If I could get them to send me a blank piece of computer paper instead of their mailers we would never have to buy paper again for our office. If anyone has found the secret to get these people to stop calling and wasting the time that we should be helping actual patients, please let me know. We have been with Scheduling Institute for about a year and have experienced amazing results! Our new patient numbers have increased at a rate we could have never anticipated. Hunter Rhodes is our consultant and we love him! He is always available whenever we have questions or concerns, regardless of the time. We often work later than he does, but he still responds promptly! He is knowledgeable and we love him so much, when we upgraded our program, we insisted Hunter switch from the current program to the new program. (He was given the green light to do so and we couldn't be more thrilled!) Many offices experience issues with staff being uncomfortable with change leading to tension in the office. Hunter guided us through that process and listened to our points-of-view and concerns prior to giving us his opinion. Despite other reviews (seemingly from disgruntled staff members instead of doctors/practice owners), he didn't encourage us to change staff. He was focused on how to make things work with the amazing team we already have. We strive to provide excellent customer service to our patients and Hunter/SI have given us fantastic ideas to increase our ability to provide the best customer service around, which we implemented immediately. Due to these few measures, we have seen a dramatic increase to our internal referrals (new patients referred by current patients). I would recommend (and have!) We stopped asking important questions about insurance, etc over the phone and now we have a billing nightmare, patients would not keep their appointment when at the office once they found out the cost and a big mess on our hands. I am not sure how they think this will work. Maybe if you are desperate for patients, don't file insurance and if you have patients that don't care about finances it would be a great program for you. I did not want my team to "sell" just improve phone skills. If you want to hear how your team answers the phone there are ways to do it with most advertisers for free and they record all conversations (ex. netsertive) And the big kicker...they automatically sign you up for a $199 a month additional charge. We receive a call about every 6 months trying to invite the doctor to an event. They don't seem to get it if the doctor is not returning the call then he isn't interested. Our office started with The Scheduling Institute last year, and it has been the single most team busting, demoralizing decision that could have been made. Just mark me as a "DITTO" for every one star rating listed for this company, and I too would give them a ZERO if Yelp had the option. We all sat through 10 or 12 hours of poorly produced audio and video training, and all the while we received "Mystery Calls" and had the results emailed directly to our Doctor. Imagine the stress on our team, there was no opportunity for questions, feedback. Oh, we could have "practiced" with them over the phone one day a week, but we did not shut down the office while we did this, it was all between patients and was time consuming enough. It was all very demoralizing, with many on our staff receiving a grade of "0" at first. Can you imagine a legitimate adult education program giving untrained or partially trained students that type of grade? Imagine your boss, who is paying you to perform a service, hearing that you have received a "0". We were all sick about it, and tried so hard to improve, but the concepts that were described in the training could not be applied to our phone calls, no matter how hard we tried. And we did try. Hard. Because we love your jobs, we love our team, and we loved working for our Doctor and wanted to do our best for him and get all this trauma (I mean, training) behind us so we could be happy at work again. Please don't underestimate how destructive this was to our workplace. We were literally frustrated to tears. And then we figured it out - the metric that the Scheduling Institute was using to "rate" us. They were not interested in concepts, tone, or even connecting with our new patients. They were simply rating us according to an exact script - words. We had specific words they wanted us to say, and if we strayed from the script even a little we did not get the passing score. So we created a script, and it worked. We said the words in the most dispassionate manner possible, and it worked. 10 to 12 hours of PAID staff time PER PERSON and it all boiled down to a short script. There was no reason to learn any concepts as there was no room for personalizing the script. Unbelievable. But it gets worse. The Scheduling Institute set the stage by saying that if we followed EXACTLY the guidelines given we would be successful. If staff don't buy in to the program 100% it will not work, and that is not Jay's fault, it is the fault of the staff. That effectively squelched communication with the Doc about this program that he had already invested in. Smart move, Jay. We turned this training from the office nightmare to the office joke, and we made it through. We did not get a SINGLE (please re-read that) new patient because of this program. We were already scheduling consults TWO weeks out, so there was no gaps in our schedule that were not being filled. We knew the Scheduling Institute calls when they came in because of 1) they were usually an unlisted number, and 2) they asked the questions listed on our script in a way that NO patient would ever ask. When patients call us, they are calling to make appointments and rarely need to be "sold". And that's what we felt like the training videos were more suited for, used car salesmen. The Scheduling Institute sends snail mail and email to our office EVERY SINGLE DAY. He must have an enormous marketing budget, as it clearly does not go into training or materials. A recent opportunity to attend a Scheduling Institute seminar in Atlanta presented itself. Every attempt to get an agenda or syllabus was responded to with "It is so motivational! There will be a concert!" No answer to the question "But what will we learn?" Our Doctor was all ready to sign us up, but as one voice we said "no". I ordered the 3 month self study program and, although there was a some good information in there, the phone auditors couldn't figure out that our receptionists NEED to ask patients what type of insurance patients have, otherwise we end up with patients coming in for appointments and leaving when the find out we actually don't work with their plan. Jay's advice "take every plan" might work for dentists, but s an optometrist I can't accept plans that pay me 20% of my usual and customary fees (I'm sure Jay wouldn't accept 20% from his clients). So we cancelled after the 90 days. A month or so and a gizillion emails later in which they I was continually asked to come back, I was offered a free month, to see if a different account specialist would be a better match. They also said they would change the way the auditors were grading our staff due to our unique needs. They were never able to do this and the new rep, although better than the young kid they paired me with the first time, just didn't cut it. So a said "no thanks" to joining again. That was July. It is now October and we have received membership bills for the past 4 months! I have called, emailed, my staff has called and emailed and the bills just keep coming. I had to file a claim on my CC to stop the charges which apparently will go on forever once they get your card number! Proceed with caution! read more

While I'm always impressed by the ladies I speak with and who answer my questions and help me, today was my first day meeting jay. Let me say I'm not impressed. We ordered their 3 month self-study over the phone. The experience was subpar and did not yield positive results. One thing to note is that after your receptionists are graded, you must wait 15 days until you can address that grading and be graded again. Waiting 15 days in a 3 month program is a long time, I imagine the reason for the delay is to push the program out of the 3 month timeframe. After the three month program, we received a call from the scheduling institute about extending the program. We said we are not interested. Despite that, we have been charged now for 3 months @ $199. We have called numerous times asking for a refund and that no new charges be applied. They said they will comply, but the charges persist, forcing me to call my credit card company to stop payment and dispute the charges. Furthermore, when I called the scheduling institute, the people answering were very disrespectful to both me and my manager (two calls ended in hangups!). I agree with many other reviewers, if I could give zero stars, I would. I have never, in all my years, dealt with a company as disrespectful, pushy and accusatory as this one. We requested some information from them after seeing a brief advertisement about their services. We simply wanted to know more about what they had to offer. They recorded my team on the phone (who, I might add, did a fantastic job on these calls of providing quality, comprehensive customer service to the person on the other line) and sent a copy of the recordings with a solid "F" rating - which they labeled "Catastrophic." Imagine that - a company that sells phone training telling you that yours is catastrophic and in need of a complete overhaul. If I had to hazard a guess, I would assume that is the only grade given to anyone, anywhere, regardless of how well they care for the pretend "patient." Afterward, they barraged our office with calls. Now, a doctor actively practicing dentistry cannot simply get up from a procedure because a company we only wanted some literature from is calling to follow up. The people who would make these follow up calls were some of the rudest people I've ever had the displeasure of speaking to. They essentially accused my team of lying to them about the doctor not being available and demanded he take the call. My team does not interrupt active patient treatment for phone calls unless it is an absolute emergency. I should hope that a company that claims to teach phone skills and practice improvement would understand that or at least respect it. But they didn't. They called on a harassment level. When I told them we were not interested, they accused my team of "intercepting the materials" and "withholding it from the doctor" because they "just take it personally." They said that the materials they've sent out to us were costly to put together and demanded to speak to the doctor again so they could convince him to sign on for their service. I relayed all this information to the doctor and he sent an email telling them to stop communications - that we were not interested. However, the mailers simply kept coming. When I contacted them to remind them that he had emailed and requested this stop, she said that it doesn't matter, that an email is insufficient because I could have hacked into his personal email account and sent that myself - the confidential email account that they've been corresponding with the doctor by directly. They, at different times, actually yelled and threatened to "tell the doctor how horrible we are and how terribly we represent his practice" simply because we wouldn't interrupt his time with a patient to talk to them and because we were passing along a message he specifically asked us to pass along. The last conversation (I use that term so loosely here) I had with one of their reps, she informed me that, once a doctor gets on the phone, they don't ever say they're not interested, as if 1) I'm lying about him being uninterested and 2) that they're so exceptional that nobody in their right mind could possibly be turned off by their abusive practices. At this time, we're on the verge of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Ultimately, I will never allow myself or any of my practices now or in the future to participate with this company on any level. Part of me is surprised that this company is still in business with the horrendous way they conduct themselves but then the other part of me isn't surprised at all because the manipulation and scare tactics they use can be very intimidating to people. We tried Scheduling Institute in our office. Not only did it end up causing headaches because we were not honest with new patients our existing patients were concerned over all the changes. Needless to say this is a scam. Jay's methods are not how any self respecting business should act nor do they produce results. They provide the same "tips" and "tricks" each time you open your wallet. Do not waste your time or money with this junk. read more

BEWARE!!!!! I am almost 120% positive these 5 star reviewers are actual employees of The Scheduling Institute since I can't imagine ANYONE being satisfied with this company unless you have no idea what you're doing and willing to have your mind filled with STUFF. It's a scam, pure and simple and why they are still in business is beyond me. Our Dr. (mistakenly) signed up about 12 years ago and it was a barrage of nothing but STUFF. They were completely unhelpful and their "ideas" caused us to lose many patients in the practice and mass chaos. THEN we started receiving STUFF again and a phone call saying that the Dr requested a practice analysis and did we get the STUFF. He insisted that he didn't because he knew what a pain in the ass (and completely ineffective) they were before. However they wouldn't accept that we remove him from the marketing materials unless they talk to him first. Seriously???? Run, Run Fast!!! read more

This company may be legitimate, but it is as far away from ethical as can be. I received a call one day, from a woman looking for information about the dental office where I work. When she told me that she was calling from work and that her boss recorded all of her calls, I knew this wasn't a true new patient calling. I answered her questions & got off the phone as quickly as I could. Sure enough, a few weeks later my boss received an unsolicited package containing the recorded phone call and a report card that showed how I failed.
