Two of my friends lost a life dear to them, so I decided to send them a plant in memory of their beloved.
I researched florists in their area, and noted Scentaments has primarily good reviews. But I ultimately chose them because of their large variety of plants offered.
HeartLeaf Philodendrons are one of my favorite house plants, and I was elated to find Scentaments offers them! So I chose one for my friends since it is easy to care for with a little insight, and can last many years without much fuss.
A few hours after I placed the order, I received a text from my friends thanking me for the plant I sent. I was very impressed on how quickly it was delivered!
Unfortunately, I later learned they had received a Peace Lily instead of a HeartLeaf Philodendron. While the Peace Lily is the same price, and it looks absolutely beautiful from the picture I was shown, it is still NOT what I ordered for them. In fact, there was another florist I had been eying and their prices are lower, but they do not sell HeartLeaf Philodendrons. If I had known Scentaments was going to send whatever, I would've used the other florist and saved myself about $7.
Look, I have nothing against Peace Lilies -- in fact, I really like them a lot. But what if one of my friends is allergic to them? Or what if one of them had expressed to me long ago that they don't like Peace Lilies?
My point is this...when you order something like a dish garden, it's a crap-shoot, right? You're not sure what you're going to get. But when you order something specific that not every florist in town has - like a HeartLeaf Philodendron - that's what you expect. At least, that's what I expect.
Scentaments isn't the first to do this, and sadly I know they won't be the last. It's just really disappointing in the forever gamble of Middle Tennessee florists.
Maybe next time I'll buy my plant from a local nursery and have Uber deliver it for me. It will cost about the same in the end. read more
