The cabin is located just off Puncheon Fork Rd. in the Wolf Creek community. The drive from the cabin to the ski resort is about 10 to 15 minutes. Once you leave Puncheon Fork for the cabin, the roads are not paved. Instead, they are gravel all the way. While the cabin is not located too far from the road, if there is snow or ice on the ground, a four-wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended. Almost necessary, I would say. The cabin was very nice. It was a log cabin that looked fairly new. The cabin slept 12 people and, for the most part, was spacious. The kitchens and bathrooms were impressive from the sinks to the countertops to the appliances. Very modern. Most rooms slept two, although there was one room with three sets of bunk beds (to sleep six, military barracks style). The master bedroom bath had a small Jacuzzi. The master bedroom also had a TV and DVD player and there was another small one downstairs. The main living room/kitchen area was great for our large group. We had difficulty getting the fire in the fireplace to stick. It was a traditional fireplace as opposed to the convenient gas fireplace we had in our other cabin at Scenic Wolf Resort. I liked the open kitchen with island counter and picnic table/bench-style seating for community meals. The stairs to the top led to a game room with pool table and poker table. There wasn't a whole lot of room to operate upstairs in the "game room" (e.g. the short spaces made many pool shots awkward). However, it sufficed. I did like how we could look down into the living room and kitchen from the game room. The place as a whole was decorated quite nicely and definitely got us in mountain vacation mode. Wi-Fi speed was excellent and there was cell phone service (the same cannot be said at the top of the mountain). Cabin price was reasonable. Overall, I thought this cabin was an excellent choice for our large group of skiers.

Fabulous views and a bit of a stomach turner of a drive to get there....It would be difficult to drive there during a storm, i surmise. Our house, the Eagles Nest had many of the amenities we needed for a vacation home. The house did need a cleaning, It seems that it does not get too much house keeping because there were ant all over the main floor/dining area. BUt we were able to make do and ignore it for the few days we were there. It was a beautiful house otherwise, with very good 3 story accommodations for an extended family to share. We enjoyed our stay in May, great weather and nice people at the resort!

We left feeling so many emotions, but renewed, grateful and inspired were the strongest. Check in was simple. I was sent an extremely well laid out itinerary for checking in, what to expect during our stay, procedures, directions. They thought of everything. I didn't need to ask a single question. We stayed in the Pine cabin. I was booking 2 weeks in advance, so I had to take what was open and change my dates to stay during the week. Initially I had my sights set on the cabin with a screened in porch, but this sweet cabin was perfect for just the 2 of us. I can't say enough good things about our stay. The view from our little front porch, paired with the symphony of frogs, cicadas, and other wildlife was intoxicating. It was my favorite spot to eat breakfast, have my morning coffee, and then tea after lunch and dinner. It was still cool enough at night to open the windows and enjoy being sung to sleep by nature. Our private, large hot tub filled with mineral water from the hot springs was heaven on earth. It really did ease our achey joints and my skin seemed to love it. There's just enough of an opening in the trees above, in this secluded little haven, to be able to see the stars at night. I thoroughly enjoyed floating on my back, gazing at the stars at night. Then again in the morning, while the light, cool rain washed over the top of me. Everything about our stay was sensory heaven for me. The cabin was well stocked with what we may need. Very clean and cozy. By bringing our own bed linens and towels we saved $35 off of our cleaning fee. Cell service in the community is really spotty, so I was relieved to have wifi access in the cabin. For some reason, we figured out that we got the best connection on the couch by the patio doors. While we wanted to unplug for the week, we still needed to be able to check on our feral roommates that we call grandchildren. I hope my review inspires others to travel to Hot Springs. This community is still recovering from Hurricane Helene and could use our support. Everywhere we went, we were met with such friendliness and warmth. We heard several stories of resilience and of a community coming together for the greater good. They deserve more help than what they've received so far.

The drive up the mountainside was beautiful (and slightly scary) but oh-so worth it! I was relieved to have made it through the weekend without a flat tire considering the gravel roads we had to trek up to get to the cabin and to the beautiful hiking spots nearby. We made the whole trip in a Honda Accord but with the knowledge we have now, we'd likely get a more rugged rental car for our next visit. As for the cabin...right away I was in awe of how cute and cozy the whole cabin/property was! The cabin was perfectly stocked with everything you'd need for two guests (planning to share a comfortable queen-sized bed) - soap, towels, linens, dishes, silverware, etc. Everything you'd have to bring on your own was very explicitly and clearly stated on their website so we were more than prepared for the weekend trip. I've always loved the idea of "glamping" in a furnished cabin and this was everything and more. The cabin was decked out with new kitchen appliances, a toaster, plenty of pots and pans, drinking glasses, cooking spices, a clean stove top, washer/dryer, spacious shower with benches, outdoor grill, new bath vanity, adjustable TV, fireplace and easily-adjustable air conditioning unit with an electronic thermostat right on the wall. The outdoor patio had a table with bench seats and grill supplies such as an extra tank of propane, a lighter, a spatula and tongs. There was also a nice rocking bench fit for two, a fenced in yard for the pups and a cute little doggy door with a ramp leading straight from the patio to the yard. And saving the best for the last, the patio included a spacious private hot tub! Throughout the cabin, there were friendly, clearly written tips/instructions posted to remind you of how to adjust the thermostat, what settings to keep for the hot tub and how to use the washer/dryer, etc. This was very helpful! I also appreciated the "concierge book" of local activities, menus from local restaurants, and maps with directions to local hiking spots. This was helpful considering there were very few spots along the mountain-side where either of us got any service on our cellphones - a detail that is also clearly stated on their website. Overall, this was a wonderful, relaxing getaway I surely hope to repeat! Thank you to Amy, Mike and Lisa for all of your hardwork and attention to detail!

The cabin was adorable, sparkling clean, and wonderfully secluded. We enjoyed the gorgeous sunset mountain views from the porch and hot tub, and the amazing concierge book filled with restaurant menus, hikes, and activities. They have thought about everything you'd need! From a washer/dryer to a flashlight by the door to take your dog out at night. It was so nice to have no phone service and disconnect from city living for the weekend. I highly recommend this place and we will certainly be back soon! Bonus points, the town of Hot Springs was also very dog friendly! It was so fun to take her to the hardware store and out to lunch with us.

We stayed at the Inn on Main for two glorious weeks in August. Not only was the house fully stocked…read morewith everything needed for vacation, it was fortified with more than one requires for a rather wonderful stay in a great local community. The house sits on Main Street, within walking distance to 5 restaurants and Weaverville's downtown. The grounds are manicured to perfection and the rental staff are quick to respond to any need. The kitchen enabled us to cook gourmet dinners, with every tool a good chef needs. The house is stocked with quality linens, towels and bedding one may expect at a 5 star hotel. Soaps, shampoos and cleaning products keep one asking "is there anything they don't provide?" This house, with its 4 bedrooms and adjoining 4 bedroom units, would be the perfect site for family reunions or wedding parties. I've rented lots of homes- this one is the most memorable for its exceptional quality, expensive appliances, decorative touch and fully stocked kitchen and baths.

Checkout time is 10 am, but it was midweek and there was literally no one else in the whole resort except one couple in one of the campsites, so we weren't stressing about being a little late getting out of our Rainbow Trout Cabin. We had put our dishes in the dishwasher and taken the trash to the dumpster, and I was zipping up my last suitcase, preparing to take it out the open front door and put it in our car, when the owner came walking up with her dog (which looked like a pitbull/boxer cross - it's large and muscular), OFF LEASH (the resort's rules supposedly require all dogs to be on leash). It was a little before 11 am. She intentionally let the dog run into our cabin, with us inside. She followed it in, yelling angrily -- not at the dog, but at US, shouting that "checkout time was 10 am!" etc. etc. The dog was barking at us, and charged at me, cornering me in the bedroom. I put my suitcase between myself and the dog. Eventually she called it away and let us get out of the cabin and to our car. The cabin was very nice, the river is great, it's a gorgeous spot with good fishing and swimming and a nice playground. But beware of the owner! Also maybe don't bring your dog, since she let hers run around loose. And the tap water smelled like sulfur, not sure what's going on with that.

The addition of a heated mattress pad was a thoughtful touch that added an extra level of comfort. The shower experience was outstanding, with plenty of hot water and a refreshing waterfall showerhead. Despite the chilly 23° weather, everything stayed warm thanks to the user-friendly pellet stove. The hot tub, set at a perfect 104°, provided a truly relaxing experience. Additionally, the soak tub next to the bed was a delightful luxury. Every single detail that could have been thought of was. The place is decorated so perfectly and thoughtful. I was super excited to find a blue tooth speaker for music. What made our stay even more special was the owners, Tom and Cris, who went above and beyond to show us their farm and introduce us to all their animals. Their hospitality made us feel welcome and added an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit. This was our first time staying in an eco-Dome, and it was a definite 5-star experience. I stayed here several nights. I saw no one, even though I arrived during office hours. The…read moreself-check-in process is pretty easy, pick a campsite, fill out the form, paper clip your cash to it and put it in the box. However, this campsite has some serious issues. There is one bathroom, which has one toilet, just one. And this is for about a dozen campsites. Likewise, there is just one shower. At least the shower can be accessed separately while someone is on the toilet. While the bathroom was clean when I arrived, it was never cleaned nor the trash emptied during my stay. Fortunately it was just me staying there (and now I know why) so it was just my dirt I suppose, but I would have at least appreciated someone sweeping it out. While some of the campsites are not too unappealing, others are not desirable at all. They are accessed from a one-way road with nowhere to pull over to let someone pass. I even had to clear a sizable limb from the road just to be able to enter the tent camping sites. In fact, I thought no one lived on site from the lack of maintenance and lack of anyone around, but it appears they actually live in the house where the bathroom is. Yes, and the bathroom is a bit of a hike from the campsites, down a badly scalloped steep gravel road (which tested my vehicle's traction control driving in). There is neither water nor trash bin at the campsites, although I did see a water pipe laying on the ground, disconnected. The only trash bin is in the bathroom, which could get pretty nasty filling up with food scraps. Or are we just supposed to throw them into the next campsite? Who knows. The water has a yucky metallic taste. The toilet bowl is stained yellow from the water. Not too appealing. The last straw though, is the dogs. Either the owners or their neighbors own an outside dog, who starts barking whenever anyone creeps up on the bathroom in the middle of the night. Apparently no one told him this is supposed to be a campground. One night he even appeared from the shadows at the end of the building. I really don't feel like getting bit by Cujo in the middle of the night on my way to the bathroom. And the dogs (this one and others) barked and howled (yes howled) at all hours of the night (even at 2 or 3 am). I stayed here because it had a hot shower. However, I am not planning to return. Next time, I will either forgo the shower and stay at Crabtree Falls campground, or stay in the Pisgah National Forest.

This is a very…read morenice rustic campground and the single mother and her daughter work very hard to constantly update it. You can even have fresh eggs delivered by horseback from a nearby farm in the summer. Great waterfalls nearby to hike to, downtown Little Switzerland is fantastic, but get there before December. The little town closes up for the winter. Beautiful mountain area!

We were so lucky to snatch up this cabin for Memorial Day weekend! It was exactly what we needed…read morewhen it came to relaxation, but also comfort. The cabin has a fully-stocked kitchen (utensils and gadgets and such; not food), the bed and couch were comfortable, and the wrap-around porch was divine. I even played on the swings in the front yard and waved at passers-by like I owned the place. The location is fabulous. There's a cute little stream right across the street, and then great hiking (with waterfalls!) not far at all. A lot of the folks who signed the guest book mentioned that they hiked Mt. Mitchell, which is practically in the backyard. The owners make it quite clear that there's coffee, filters, creamer, and other condiments in the cabin, but there's no way for them to know if they've been depleted. I really appreciated the heads-up, but they have folks managing and cleaning the place in between visitors, so it would be way more convenient and relaxing if those things were just taken care of. Same goes for taking out the trash--you have to take it with you on your way out of town (or they charge you $10 per bag left at the cabin). Overall, though, the cabin was great, the price was right, and the owners were really responsive. Plus, I love that it's dog-friendly! We'll definitely be back.
