My fiancé and I were starting to tip toe into the "owning your own home" sector of life! He made an appointment with Brenda here at Scenic and I was self doubting because I didn't think we were ready or we could do it! We met with Brenda who is VERY knowledgeable in her field and quick. She was able to answer any questions I had for her even after we left her office. She isn't one of those Mortgage loan originators with a "car sales men" attitude. And that's what I loved about her. We did shop around for a lender before deciding Scenic Oaks was the right company for us to choose. And we specifically chose it, because of Brenda! After speaking with others, we felt that it wasn't "home" if we weren't going with Scenic! She took care of us from day 1 to today! Today we finally closed on our home and received keys. And I couldn't be more excited for this next Journey!! So if your having doubts, or are ready to start the next stepping stone in your life, contact Scenic and ask for Brenda! I am telling you, you won't regret it. We will definitely be back to refi with her!!! Scenic, don't loose her!! LOL read more

Daniel Montanez was the loan officer in a recent transaction with our office. What a pleasure he was to work with. He called us with an introduction immediately upon finding out our office was affiliated with the sales transaction. I'll be glad to refer him to other clients as it was a job well done! read more

Sondra's customer service is exceptional. Her knowledge and expertise in every aspect of our transaction was remarkable. She's kind, personable and highly responsive to our many and frequent questions. She works hard to earn trust. We can't thank her enough for helping us navigate through a real estate purchase that was stressful. Her calm and positive demeanor were the perfect fit for us. We will recommend her to all our friends and family. It's unfortunate that the negative reviews posted here are for Scenic Oaks offices NOT located in Modesto. I wish those reviews had been posted on the appropriate pages because it's evident the staff at the Modesto branch are highly professional and provide exceptional customer service. In other words they are "ROCKSTARS!!" :) read more

Working with Cynthia Brackett twice in the past month has been a great experience. She's one of the best in the business.

Scenic Oaks and Juan Herrera are the best lenders I worked with in 27 years of my career. Their one on one action with clients and the follow up programs in place keeping me and them informed makes the difference plus, they have the best interest rates and the lowest fees read more

Their incompetence killed a real estate deal. This heat-stroked, flat-lander POS company better lawyer up and be ready for a few court dates 3 hours away. They provided an approval letter, but yanked funding for no reason a few days before the escrow was to close. Inconvenienced me (I will get compensated), but it put the buyers in a very bad way. If it was my family having to live out of boxes, there would be a more serious problem. read more

a 100% unsatisfied customer CYNTHIA BRACKETT very unprofessional and inconfident!!!!!!!!!!!! i have almost 200k equity in my 550k house and a solid job With a high income and a high credit score. Many issues with underwriting seems they have very poor communication after many months of providing everything except my firstborn they have failed miserably as a mortgage brokerage. Feeling exhausted and discrimanated i will now file a complaint with the CA bureau of real estate and all other agencies that govern mortgage brokerage. read more

Scenic Oaks was recommended to us as a good lender in the Modesto area, where we wanted to relocate from the Bay Area. We went to them and got our loan approval in place a couple of months before we were going to move - everything seemed to be in place and smooth.- until we actually needed to fund the loan...then the nightmare began. Their Underwriting department continued to delay closing with completely stupid demands - and the demands started coming after we moved out of our house and had files and computers in moving vans, and after we thought that all questions had been answered, turns out that we were wrong. One example: their Credit Researcher, our Credit Union and myself were on a conference call to explain that an auto loan had been paid off - yes two auto loans had been paid off and their were no more auto loans per the CU rep - should be answered, right? No, a week later they wanted to verify that the other auto loan was paid off - even though it had already been verified that it had been! This stupidity cost us an additional $4000 in moving expense and a tremendous amount of physical and mental stress. . read more

There is always a little stress when buying a home but she helped make things happen keeping me calm and stress free. If you need a loan officer call them you won't regret it. read more

This is one of the worst companies, the follow through was horrible. I had the hardest time getting anyone to answer their phone and took forever to return phone calls. In the end, they did not have documents to title in time to close an escrow. And THEN they lied and told me docs were in title, when in fact they were not there and after all the work of keeping this transaction afloat, it was lost due to their incompetence. read more

Cynthia worked hard to help us get qualified for our loan. She did absolutely everything that was within her reach. People need to understand that Cynthia is the middle man in the process of the loan and that she advocates for her Clients through underwriting while still making sure everything is done per the required guidelines. These guidelines apply at every bank. So although it may seem like the bank requests too many documents, it's part of the process and it would be exactly the same at any bank. Underwriting is who makes the requests and final decisions, not Cynthia. Keep that in mind before you blame her for not getting approved for your loan. Thanks to Cynthia's hard work, we are in our new home today. She went out of her way to help us out and makr it happen for us when we thought underwriting might not approve our loan. Our loan was very challenging and Cynthia was always on top of things throughout the process. Thanks to Cynthia, we were able to move into our new home just in time!! She worked miracles and helped us through every obstacle as they came up. She made a huge and positive difference in the approval of our loan because she was always on top of things. Remember that next time you want to write a bad review about her because underwriting is asking for items. Her role is to collect documents to present to Underwriting, the final decision is not up to her. read more

Scenic Oaks Funding is PMZ's answer to a tough lending environment. After the last few years of experiencing clients' troubles with the major banks to obtain a mortgage, Scenic Oaks has risen from the muck to offer a local alternative. The great thing here is that you deal face to face with your lender and your underwriter is just down the hall! Gone are the days of faxing/emailing your ultra sensitive personal financial information to some stranger in another state who could literally care less if your loan goes through or not. Call me anytime for a reference to a great lender who will serve you. read more

I don't even know where to begin. What is supposed to be one of the most exciting times of my life has become one of the worst due to the lack of professionalism of this company. The buyer of my current home is using Scenic for her loan (which we need to fund the deposit of the home we are buying). We have been in an upheaval for the past week as to what is going on. Since Tuesday, we have been told that the loan disclosures were being sent to title. Each day, that hasn't happened (day 45 of escrow). My realtor has had to call from unknown numbers to get the loan officer on the phone with what is going on. First we were closing Monday, earlier today we were told it would be Tuesday, now Friday at 5 we are told that it will probably be Thursday of next week. If their client needs to provide information to them before they send docs to title, they should be honest. Right when we think it's done, something else comes up that wasn't disclosed. Being upfront and honest would have made a world of difference (and actually answering phone calls and emails). Now, we continue to wonder if we are closing and when whole my autistic son's life has been turned upside down because this company cannot communicate effectively. I hope, for my son's sake, that we are able to get answers as to when we are actually able to move before he start to regress due to his routine being turned upside down for an unknown amount of time because Scenic Oaks cannot communicate. I have tried speaking with the President and Vice President, which are never available. My agent and the agent of the house we are buying are both appalled by what my family has gone through and how business is conducted with Scenic. I hope others don't have to suffer with what my family has and is continuing to have to suffer through. read more

Sandra at the Stockton location started out nice and friendly however ended up not responding to emails or calls and I ended up not getting my offer in a house because of her delays. She had the nerve to tell me I treated my moms friend ( a realtor) poorly by not choosing her as my realtor since they were mutual friends. Since when does a lender have a say on who their client chooses as a realtor? She was so rude to me and honestly didn't do me any favors and I'll happily take my business elsewhere. I'm sure it's not the company as a whole, just her so choose carefully. read more

From the moment we qualified our client until the recording time, Jeff, 209-345-2709 was there at every step both with myself as the buyer's agent and with our mutual client the buyer. Could not ask for better service or responsiveness. Jeff is great! We would applaud anyone who decides to use the services provided by Jeff and his team at Scenic Oaks Funding! read more

I have had past experiences that were unsatisfactory. This particular transaction the following up was very poor. It was unfortunate that the buyer had to pay for mistakes that were made. Loan officers need to realize that sellers and buyers put heir financial and emotional health on the line. It is important to meet dates in the contract. read more
