I can't say enough great things about SCDiving in Camarillo, CA! My daughter and I just completed our Open Water certification here and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The staff is incredibly professional and clearly knows their stuff. They explain everything in a way that's easy to understand and really make safety a top priority, which helped me feel confident in the water. What really stood out to me was their patience--especially with my 12-year-old daughter. The instructors were so encouraging and supportive with her, taking the time to make sure she was comfortable and confident while still keeping things fun. As a parent, that meant everything. You can tell they truly care about their students and love what they do. Ive been diving with this shop since last august. After watching how incredible they have been certifying dozens of new divers, I enrolled my stepson for his junior open water certification. Not only did he have a blast and leave the water with more confidence than ever, but they paid so much attention to his safety and experience that I have decided to sign up my nieces and nephews as well! As for leveling up certifications, they're the place to go! I'm in the rescue diver training now and have had such a wonderful, informative experience that I am already saving up for more specialty certifications. These guys are incredible! While the dive culture in some places can be pretty uninviting, Robert and his shop completely break the mold! They are knowledgeable, encouraging, and very inclusive. They have so fallen in love with the sport, that they treat any fellow diver just like family! If you couldn't tell by the pictures already... I proposed to my girlfriend on a dive with the team in Catalina! Now, I hadn't dove since taking my open water diving courses 6 years ago... but when I pitched the idea to Robert and his team they were all for it! They were phenomenal communicators, helped me plan it all out, and we executed the plan flawlessly. They even helped me capture the entire event! All of the pictures shown were taken by Robert--an incredible photographer. Let me also say this: I have heard of other dive shops that are very strict about not allowing other certified divers tag along in their classes/dives. SC Diving not only allowed me to tag along, but they let me borrow a wetsuit, bcd, and regulator all for free! I got my open water cert through SCDiving back in 2020 and all the staff at SCDiving made it such an amazing experience! I ended up getting my advanced and rescue diver cert through them too. Words cannot adequately describe how amazing this place is! I purchased an open water dive certification course for my daughter last year. Due to scheduling problems and some other personal issues, it took many months to get all of the necessary dives in for certification. Robert, the owner, was incredibly flexible and patient with us. You can tell he truly loves this sport. After dives he chats with all of the divers sharing stories, tips and advice. My daughter also worked with Brad on dives and he is truly one of the kindest, most patient, and encouraging people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I recently got my PADI Open Water diver certification in March 2021 with SC Diving. It was a VERY enjoyable experience from the very beginning when I called to get information, to when I came in to get my materials , to the classroom ,in the pool and to the ocean dives. Robert and his team , Phil, Mike, Dan, and everyone else are so friendly and knowledgeable. This review is long and I am taking time out to write this because I believe it's important for people to know that not all dive schools are the same! I tried getting my certification several years ago at one of these highly advertised churn and burn schools and was out in the ocean unprepared, about to sink to the bottom of Laguna Beach in FULL scuba gear and one fin picture that!!!!.. didn't work out so well. Then I just didn't want to dive anymore...(oh, and they wanted to charge me an extra arm, leg and fin because THEY didn't train me right the first time ... it wasn't funny then. Fast forward 7 years later, I decided to try again. After all, I always wanted to be a diver, and after lots of research and calling MANY schools, and I mean MANY, I found SC Diving. Here , everyone took the time , and extra time, to make SURE we were well prepared all the way around. Safety is paramount, and we were very well trained on that too! As a result, I am now a very happy diver and am excited about diving! My training here really changed my diving experience this go round. When you're properly trained by people who care about your experience and your success, people that you genuinely like and who like you as well, you are confident with your skills in the water and you can enjoy the awesomeness of scuba diving! I'm new to the area and I have already selected SCDiving as my dive shop. The staff is friendly, they talk to you and not sell to you. You can drop off gear (tank fill, repair needs) and pick it up at your convenience. They have a room to drop or pick up equipment 24/7! That is customer service. I booked a day trip online with Spectra, and asked the SCdiving staff about the boat. They answered my questions, printed out direction, and gave me tips on where to park. They do have odd hours, so if purchasing equipment, call them or order online. read more

I had not been diving in a very, very long time. I took the refresher course from SCDiving. They had excellent equipment to rent and more importantly, excellent instruction at the Pleasant Valley Swimming Pool. I felt ready for the boat dive the next day on the Spectre Boat out of Ventura Harbor. It was a fabulous dive - more spectacular and fun than I expected.
