I took a day trip with 4 friends to Pennslyvania state in the summer of 2021. This fudge and tea/coffee shop is located in the main street area of Volant, PA which is in western Pennsylvania. I visited this quaint little town (Volant) from Cleveland in July 2021 over Independence Day holiday weekend. INSIDE -- It is a small shop but big enough where you can move around. TEA -- I don't drink coffee so as an avid tea drinker, I was happy to see the assortment of teas sold here. I bought a gourmet Rooibos tea which is a red herbal tea found in South Africa. There are only 15 tea bags inside and I remember the price was quite expensive. I actually grew up drinking Rooibos tea in South Africa and it is definitely an acquired taste but I love it. This particular blend of Rooibos is made out of Smith's Teamaker in Portland, Oregon. I highly recommend buying it if you enjoy tea. FUDGE -- Soft, chewy, and homemade. They offer free samples so one of the employees offered me a sample of some fudge and it was delicious. I forgot the type that I had but it may have been chocolate flavoured. Very disappointed in the service today. I understand things can take time to make a coffee but when there is no system on who gets their order when, it becomes very frustrating. People after me getting their coffees and much more difficult to make than mine. Not to mention the lack of courtesy when I checked on my coffees. Oh and then when we finally got them mine first and then 10 minutes later my friends it was wrong. No apology. It felt more like I should apologize for wanting what I paid for. read more

We waited over 20 minutes for just one of two coffee drinks. During that time, customers who ordered after us were served repeatedly. When we asked about our order, staff gave no apology and acted as though we were inconveniencing them. They clearly forgot the second drink, and when I reminded them politely it was supposed to be plain (no sugar, no flavor), the response was harsh. When I finally received it ten minutes later, the drink was sweet and flavored. Completely unacceptable--no apology, only dismissiveness. read more

Buy the Fudge, Skip the Coffee Beans The fudge at Miss Scarlett's is absolutely delicious! But the pricey whole bean coffee is a total waste of money. The beans were small, stale, and lacked any fragrance - like rejects swept from the floor of the sorting mill. I love good coffee and am no stranger to quality roasts from all over the world. I even tried several different brewing methods and timings to try and salvage the beans. The entire bag ended up in the compost bin. read more

If you are anywhere close to western PA, go to Miss Scarlett's! Located in the charming town of Volant, Miss Scarlett's has many items that are great for eating or gifting. The shop owner, Dale, is friendly and fun to talk with. You can sample his fudge, which is available in a range of unique flavors. We ended up buying pumpkin pie fudge and chocolate toffee fudge. Yum! The fudge is high quality and the prices are very reasonable. The fudge is made right in the shop. Dale boxes up the fudge, so it makes a nice gift (don't forget to get some for yourself!). We were so distracted by the fudge that we nearly forgot to try the coffee. Dale has a huge variety of coffee available. We tasted the Christmas flavor he had brewed and it was rich and smooth. Fudge + coffee makes an even better gift! There are many other items available in the shop. It's fun to do a fudge tasting, and I liked being able to get locally-made, unique gifts. read more

The coffee is outstanding! I stopped in June 2019 on a warm day and ordered an iced coffee. It was the best iced coffee that I've ever had! It didn't have a bite to it like other coffees do. It was smooth. You have to try it for yourself. I overheard the shop worker telling some customers that people request that they ship their house blend coffees all over the U.S. It's that good! read more
