Dr. Scalia is all but useless. I selected him because of very good ratings online, and an extremely close proximity to my home. He also is not part of any of the large medical groups in the area (Westfield Family Practice, Summit Medical Group, etc.), which I can only describe as purely money-making organizations. I also liked the idea of visiting a Doctor of Osteopathy instead of an MD, thinking that he might recommend dietary/lifestyle changes in addition to pharmaceuticals. Instead, I had the pleasure of meeting a doctor who laughed at my request for a full blood test as part of a physical, telling me that I was young and skinny, and therefore must be healthy, and don't need to see him. Finally, I just found out that my lovely doctor, or his staff, seems to have lost my medical/prescription records. Despite being a young and healthy adult who doesn't visit the doctor other than for annual check ups (luckily), this is the last straw. Guess I have to look for a new doctor. read more

Updated! I left a message with a machine I didn't trust, and was called back by a new, and more friendly receptionist. The automated confirmation call gave me the wrong time, and as a result I was 45 minutes late to the appointment. It didn't seem to be a problem and the receptionist said that it has been happening a lot. The automated system with prescription refills and appointments is very annoying, but I still stand by what I said about the doctor and service. read more

First of all, let me start with I am a pharmD and worked with several outstanding primary care professionals through my career. This was horrendous. I was looking for a new doctor after starting my new job / location and made that clear during scheduling my appointment. First of all, they told me there were no openings for 3 weeks. After waiting 3 weeks, i make the trip to the doctor for a checkup / blood test/ physical, (after not being checked up in over 2 years due to insurance) and the doctor came in for 2 minutes and left. Every assessment was done by the nurse. Which is usually fine with me if the doctor at least comes in and goes over what he/she found during the assessments. No, this doctor came in, and ONE question "Have you had any previous illnesses, disorders or surgeries?" and was about to call it a day. Until iiiii had to proactively ask him if he could at the very least conduct routine physical evaluations (blood pressure, lungs, etc). I also described some pretty unusual and unpleasant symptoms to him because i wasnt feel well at the time, and it was not until i probed further and demonstrated extreme uncertainty with his "diagnosis" that he wrote a script and referred me to another doctor. No conclusion, no summary, no overall wellness consultation. He simply told me to put on my gown and left the room. The NURSE came back with the script. I proactively (again) asked for the results of my eye test or whether I should be concerned about glasses (because the nurse had mentioned I got a few wrong) and also proactively (again) asked for the results of my hearing test AND for a blood test script?!? This was unacceptable to me. Truly, this doctor should be ashamed. read more

Always found Dr.Scalia's office extremely professional and courteous . I have been seeing him for 15 plus years and my wife has been a patient for 10 yrs now. Appointments are very accommodating and he is very thorough. If you ask he will keep you up to date on current viruses , flus or any other local conditions . read more

I have been seeing dr Scalia for several years. He has a great, friendly support staff. When I need an appointment, I am able to get one quickly. I never wait longer than 10 minutes from walking in the door to seeing him. Refills are easy, referrals within the group have been a breeze. read more

Both me and my wife, had been visiting Dr.Scalia since we moved to this town. He is exceptionally a good doctor. In the modern days, where doctors are more money minded than health oriented, I found Dr.Scalia to be very different. He is young and really spends time to understand your issues and advises appropriately. The office is never crowded and thus allowing the doctor to listen to each patient without being rushed. I always found that the office people to be very friendly and attentive. read more

He really takes the time to hear one's symptoms and concerns. I'm always able to get an appointment with short notice and his prescriptions and suggestions resolve our health issues quickly. read more
