My experience at SCAD was an experience like no other. The people you meet, the professors you connect with, and the lessons you learn are lessons that will carry out through your entire life. I got my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design at SCAD, and I would recommend it to anyone else that's seeking a similar career path. Although the Graphic Design chair, Henry, has left to move on to bigger and better things, the department is still full of wonderful professors. The courses are rigorous and demand a lot out of you, especially your time. If you're not willing to put in the effort, you may want to reconsider what you want to do. Wasting your own time will equal out to wasting someone else's.
The campus offers an open learning environment, full of opportunities to collaborate and communicate. The space is full of bright colors and students' artworks to keep you motivated and inspired. Although the tuition is pretty high, you won't get an education like this anywhere else. The professors genuinely care about you if you genuinely care about their class. They look out for your well-being and take the time to get to know you on a personal level. Even the dean, Art Malloy, takes time to connect with you if you make your way over to him. I repeat, you won't get an experience like this ever anywhere else.
With the recent development of SCAD Fash and the SCAD Pad, other departments are gaining more fame. Be sure to take your time to make your way up to these spaces, they're beautifully designed.
Life at SCAD can get crazy, but without a little bit of crazy... life would not be as interesting. read more
