I love Kaela! When I first walked into the salon, I was blown away by the atmosphere! It's so relaxing. The salon reminds me of a spa; it's a place to get your hair done and relax. Kaela made an immediate impression when she asked about any skin conditions that may affect my scalp, and she also asked me what my hair goals were. I knew immediately that I had came to the right place. Lastly, I got a rose hair treatment, shampoo/conditioner, and a twist out. The twist out was beautiful! Kaela (SBK Studios) is absolute gem! She's friendly, down-to-earth, and truly knowledgeable about her craft. Her prices are definitely reasonable for the level of service she offers. After visiting elite natural salons in Washington DC and Detroit, my expectations are high but she blew them out of the water. Her salon (SBK Studios) is gorgeous (modern, glamorous, and sleek) and unlike anything I've seen for natural hair care in the Houston area. Book now ladies! I was getting married in Austin and I had an idea of a hairstyle I wanted. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a natural hair stylist in Austin to do my hair. So I had to find someone one in the Houston area to do my hair before I went to Austin. I made an appointment with Kaela because she was the only natural hairstylist on styleseat with a high rating. Also I had seen a couple of colleague's photos in her portfolio so I figured that she was legit. Boy was I wrong. First of all, her shop was hard to find. I arrived 20 minutes before the appointment and I had no idea where her shop was. The area had several strip mall/shops. She didn't mention which building she was in and Google maps just has the same address of the surrounding shops. I called her several times and no one picked up. Five minutes before the appointment, someone finally texts me and tells me that it's in Salon123 (a big building with multiple stylists who have their own suites). I finally made it to her shop and told her that I have been trying to reach her and no one was answering. She then proceeds to tell me that I was not meant to be booked because she was busy and had a workout session planned for later that evening. So I showed her my confirmation message on styleseat. Basically, she started the hair consultation as if she was doing me a favor. Mind you, this was around 5:10 pm. She proceeds to entertain people who come in and out of her small cubicle salon, selling them earrings , trinkets and hair oils. She all spends at least an hour talking to one of her "loyal clients". She started my hair around 6:15 pm. All I wanted was a sew-in styled into a bun with a side swoop. It was just a simple style for a wedding. By the time she was done, it was around 10:45 pm. Mind you I live in Spring TX, which is about an hour away from her salon. She then tells me that she ruined my makeup around my edges with the oil she used on my scalp. I told her that I don't really care that I was really tired and needed to get home. She basically played it off and before I could get out of my chair, she had glitter on my eyelids. She also began a photo-shoot. Now it was basically 11:30 pm and I told her that I wanted to leave. I was basically coerced into a photo-shoot and never gave consent for her to use my photos. The reason why I didn't get up right away was because she was very aggressive in her tone and had the biceps of a man. I didn't want to risk getting my face injured before my wedding day. When I got up to leave, I asked her how she would like me to pay for her services and she then tells me that I will be automatically charged on styleseat. While I'm on my way, I receive a phone call from her saying that I should park on the side of the road and give her my card details so that she would charge me for the hair service. I was on a highway so I told her that it wasn't safe and I'll her call her when I am able to exit. She basically tells me that she was going to call the cops on me because she thought I was swindling her. A few minutes before she had called, I had received a message from styleseat confirming my card being charged so I was surprised by her harsh remarks. She kept calling me the entire ride back home and so I waited to get home to send her a screenshot of the confirmation from styleseat. She basically sends me a message back talking about how ungrateful I am and that she doesn't want me be her client again. I was very confused; I never said anything rude to her and didn't swindle her. Her temperament is quite mercurial. She was just a stylist from hell. I tried to leave a feedback on styleseat but then I realized that you couldn't leave feedback unless the stylist sends you a request to do so. So basically, styleseat is rigged in favor of the stylist and you are less likely to see honest feedback on the stylists' pages. Also, my scalp was irritated and inflamed. I took out the weave two days after my wedding only to realize that I had suffered hair loss because of the hair braiding tension .In short, I will not recommend Kaela to anyone, not even my worst enemy. read more

I started using Kaela's MiRI hair oils last year, I cannot get enough of her hair products. When I first started using her hair oils within two weeks of consistently using them I saw a drastic change in my hair! Not only was my hair a lot softer but my hair grew almost an inch in TWO WEEKS! Where I had breakage, my hair got a lot stronger. I then decided to purchase the shampoo and conditioner and that definitely has also helped in growing my hair. My wash days are so much quicker and easier, and I thank Kaela for that because she didn't just let me purchase these items, she taught me how to use them to get the best results. Kaela is such a hair guru! She knows exactly what to do with your natural hair! It's because of her that I am enjoying my natural hair journey. She is the first hair stylist I have ever been to that actually cares for my hair, which makes her so trust worthy. I also have gotten my hair treated, washed, and trimmed by her and whatever she did to my hair made my scalp feel so great! I've never felt the pores on my scalp open up completely, until I came to her. I definitely recommend her! You will not leave feeling disappointed. read more
