They explained that there was a $59 fee for using the service, but as long as I paid within 90 days, I wouldn't pay any more than that. When I got home that night I looked more closely at the Acima app and it was showing me that I owed $100 more than what was agreed on, plus more tax so the final price would end up being about $130 more than what we were told. I went in to cancel everything. Even though the ring was final sale, I still hadn't picked it up because it needed to be sized. When I went in, another guy who was not the one who sold it to me told me I must be mistaken, that there are fees that would have been explained to me. He told me to come back in a couple of hours to speak to the manager. I went back and talked to the manager and again, was told about the $59 fee, and how I must be mistaken. I showed him the document from Acima saying that I now owed $130 more than was agreed upon. To his credit, he was kind, and very transparent, which was great. He called someone from Acima, and put him on speakerphone so I could listen to the conversation. The guy ended up explaining to him that yes, there was an additional $99 "early purchase fee" added on, plus tax. Once off the phone, the manager of the store, and the man who sold me the ring both said they didn't know about that extra fee. Ok, fine. I was told that if I wanted to keep the ring, they could help me out in the future, but at this point the whole experience was soured for me and I just wanted to return it. I only ended up losing $10 to this Acima company, I just still had to pick up the ring so I could then send it to them, because they owned it at this point, rather than the store. I want to say that everyone who helped me was very nice, and completely friendly and welcoming. From the sales associates to the manager and assistant manager of the store. I have no problem with any of the gentlemen who assisted me with my purchase, and then the return. I just find it unacceptable that they "didn't know" about a large extra fee, from a company that they use for financing. This was supposed to be an engagement ring. My boyfriend and I are not wealthy, and it was a relatively inexpensive ring. To pay $130 more than what was agreed upon is just absurd. If you pride yourself on your business, why partner up with a scammy financing company like Acima?
