That said, this is the sort of place that we want to go camping all the time now! We're definitely not go out in the woods and sleep on a camping pad under the stars type people. We're more camp where we can see the car and have a bathroom around type people. This definitely trends towards the latter. This little campground is about 17 miles past Bron Yr Aur in Naches and is an absolute gem of a spot. Upon checking in, you find they have a small store with plenty of food and beverage options. They have spots for tent camping, cabins with beds, and plenty of RV parking. We went up here for a friends birthday weekend and opted for one of the small cabins. It was named "mamas place "and was lovely. The cabins are newly renovated and have small kitchenette's, a nice TV, And most importantly were warm! The two that we saw in so I did not have bathrooms, but there is a shared central bathroom and shower house that's close to everything, and is also heated! On the grounds, they have a small beach area where the kids could go throw rocks in the River and during the summertime everyone is able to get into the water to cool off. They have tons of play equipment for kids to run around and play on, some awesome area for people to ride 4 x 4's if they brought them, and they even have a meadow type area where they hold weddings. It's incredibly picturesque with the river in the background and the cliffs behind it. Go out there at night and check out what they called the fire flies - a bunch of lights set up in the meadow the dance on the trees. It's pretty awesome! You are just close enough to be able to run into town for something you forgot, but also far enough away that your cell phone isn't going off all the time because the reception is bad. This is actually about as close to perfect spot as we've been, and we're really excited to go back!

They are located in a remote area, so there is no cell service, and wifi is only available right by the office, but they do have a great selection of loaner DVDs, which kept my hubby . However, the main campground is much more wooded and pleasant (though the sites are still very close to each other.) I'd give it a 4 if we had stayed there. Pros: electricity, water and sewer were available at the site. The camp also has a pool (closed during these covid times), a small store, a restaurant, and it also looked like they sell propane on site though we didn't buy any. The park is in reasonable proximity to both Bumping Lake and Chinook Pass to the west and Naches and Yakima to the east. Cons: as I said, small sites and the overflow area was quite ugly. Also the men's bathroom is secured with a sliding chain safety lock which allows the door to open a bit before it engages. This allows someone outside to see you sitting in the throne when someone else tries to open the door. I don't know if the women's bathroom is the same way, but whoever thought that kind of lock was appropriate for a bathroom with no stalls or other privacy screens needs to try it once or twice and see how it feels. The price seemed pretty standard for RV parks with full hookups.

Not a clear trail at all. My hiking group and I found ourselves asking, "Is this trail?", numerous times on this extremely strenuous seemingly endless uphill trek to the lake. Now, granted, some of our group was in better shape than others and managed the physicality of the trail better than others but still we all agreed it was extremely hard. First you drive up a gravel road approximately 6 miles to get to the parking lot. One bathroom is available there which wasn't too gross. Once you enter the trail it starts heading up. And up and up and up. It is seemingly endless. I believe it about 4 plus miles up. The trail starts out fairly marked and easy to follow. Then it doesn't. Unfortunately I got separated from my group for a good portion of this hike due to my attempt to stay with the "faster" ladies, lol. I just kept going up. Thank goodness a few other people passed me to let me know I was on the right track. No trail at all really for a good portion and I merely followed a dry creek trail. Extremely rocky and loads of bushwhacking. I had to stop every five to ten feet to catch my breath. The steepness reminded me of a hike in Big Sur called Garrapata which after I competed that one I said I would never do again, lol. Now to the good parts of the hike. Gorgeous scenery beyond words! Loads of amazing waterfalls as you are following a creek flowing from a lake high above. The lake was outstandingly beautiful. I took a quick dip in the icy water at the top! Quickly it changed my outlook on the hike and cooled me off. Will I do it again? Maybe, but next time. I will bring more snacks for the hike that give me energy. I will start out slower and take more frequent deliberate breaks. And please please don't forget your mosquito repellent! Also, long pants as a large portion of this hike you go through tall grasses and overgrowth. I consider myself an experienced hiker when I was in CA, but here in WA, I am a beginner for sure. Stay hydrated and go at your own pace. This is worth it at least once. SYOY and No FOMO for me here! Lol.

My wife walked down to the site and saw it was really unlevel, and the back 15 feet just fell off. Gravel was dumped but not spread out, with no attention paid to where it went. The trees were so tight on every side of it, and at the site, there is just no way of either getting to it or getting into it with any safety. When we showed the pictures to the teenage girls running the office/store/restaurant, they said there were pictures of the site online, and we should have seen the way it was. There is one picture, and it's from a low level, looking back at a lake that was full years ago. Tried to explain that we could NOT get there safely, they said no refunds, and there are no other sites. We never PICKED that site; it was assigned by a manager months earlier when we made the reservation and explained what we had for a trailer. This was Labor Day weekend. We had to leave and try to find a different place at a moment's notice. No refund period at this place. Stay away. Unless you want a forest floor drive, Tree roots and all, and rude customer service. We camped at Silver Beach Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

It felt like I was stepping into my grandparents basement which was somehow a sweet feeling. It has things to do in there, however also a whole whole lot of random things mixed in that are dusty which makes it feel like a storage basement or attic. The hard parts: The camp ground sold to us online was VERY different than what we received. See pictures attached. The listing shows a picture of T6 with trees and privacy. Upon arrival we notice a completely open space with what appeared to be a hoarder living behind us. There was no separation between sites so we moved the picnic tables, because otherwise our kids would be surrounded by that persons junk. This was very disappointing. We felt that this person should be required to not camp or "live like this" in such a space. Otherwise if allowed, than at least close that camp site as it looks, "ick." There was also a community port a potty 15 feet from where we slept. While convenient... not many want that downbreeze smell. The freeway is extemely loud which to me felt like white noise, but it drove my husband crazy. This was a very sweet family feel campground, however due to the misleading of what we were getting as a camp site, camping next to a hoarder / what felt like a condemned home and sleeping within feet of an outhouse... this will be a last option camp site.

Lots of trees with the sun shining through and birds chirping pleasantly in the morning. Now the negative :( We requested two sites next to each other so we could be side by side and set up our tables and chairs and enjoy a full circle. Ha! We got two sites bumper to bumper. Not only that, but we had to pull in with our doors facing AWAY from our campsite, so no room to open our awning, set up chairs and enjoy our outside lights in the evening. Not only THAT, but there was only ONE covered area for both sites. Now picture this...what if you were put there with people you don't know??? The front trailer has the covered area, the back spot has...NOTHING. And lastly. The site was totally at a slope going DOWN to the covered area. Tough for old folks (we aren't that old, so we were okay. Lol!) Just word to the wise, ask lots of questions about your site when booking.

I typically stick with hikes that are considered "easy", popular with families, and don't require hiking boots. This one fits the bill. At about 2 miles roundtrip (out and back), the trail is made up of well-kept dirt pathways and you'll experience a gradual incline of only about 400 feet. There were several short sets of wooden steps along the way, which were pretty easy to navigate since they were of even height and not too tall. Just be careful towards the end while heading down to the base of the falls. You'll go down a set of stone steps, then the pathway narrows and becomes pretty rocky with a jagged surface, so watch your footing and take it slow. You can also hang on to the rock wall on the right side for balance. I saw some people equipped with their hiking poles and hiking boots which would come in handy for this small section of the hike, however I was able to traverse it with my running shoes, taking small steps. I was grateful there weren't many bugs and the hike is mostly shaded by all the trees above. It was over 80 degrees on the day we went, but it felt like the 70s since we were never really in direct sun. The trail runs parallel to Denny Creek below, so for the duration of the hike, you can hear the tranquil sound of the flowing water. There are two sections of parking which cost $5 per day, unless you have the "Washington Forest Pass" or "America the Beautiful Pass". Toilets are located near the parking lots, but there are no sinks, so make sure to bring some hand sanitizer. During the summer, weekends can be pretty crowded, so I recommend going on a weekday for a more relaxed atmosphere. We went on a sunny Monday and there was plenty of parking left even when we headed out around noon.
