Visited and camped out at Sawmill for the first time this weekend. It was a great time, looking forward to doing it again. The people were very welcoming and fun to be around. They have a restaurant you don't have to cook, unless you really wanted to. As well as a full service bar, pool, and night club, can't forget about the Trails and the 'garage'.

Camping is not something you'll find me doing very often, but fortunately you can make this experience feel more like glamping, than rustic camping. While you can pitch a tent, you'll find me in a cabin. Sawmill Campground, located in rural Dade City, is a nice getaway place to spend a weekend from, "city life". As of yet they have no WiFi, most of the time you have poor cell phone reception so it forces you to kickback and enjoy the present. The pros: - the pool area. The pool is great (and heated). You can rent a cabana and there are plenty of chairs. - the pool bar, which opens at 8am and closes at midnight has just enough to not keep you bored with food. - it's clean here. They do a nice job of making it a nice and clean campground. - it's on a lot of land so you don't feel like you're on top of each other. The cabin we stayed in was number 5: KD Lang which had two double beds and most importantly - air conditioning. It has a fridge, no TV, and a small cabinet to store clothing in. Cons: - the cabin had an odor to it. I think it came from the air conditioning, which smelled like cat urine. - while they had events throughout the weekend, I felt like the organizational aspect of things was not there. For example: they had an event from 6-8 where you could have a steak dinner for $15, but only had 15 steaks available so within an hour they ran out. The campground features a couple of bars which are all connected so you can pop into whichever one suits you. It's clothing optional on the entire grounds so you don't have to worry about packing much to wear although I'd recommend packing some big spray if nothing else. Plenty of places to get into trouble like the trails or the garage (when it's open and if you have money to pay for it), or you can just relax by the pool. The weekend is yours so do with it what you may.

Came here with the bestie one night to hang at the pool, listen to to music, watch a show and chill by the bon fire. The camp ground is full of lit golf carts, thumping music, lots of love and different events on the weekend. This is a Very welcoming and fun place to visit. Bring a RV, camper or rent a cute little cabin and enjoy the days with lots of welcoming camp goers. I loved hanging by the pool, clothing was optional and the drinks are quite affordable. Which check mark allot to make it 5 stars in my books. We plan to come back for Halloween to enjoy a safe outdoor and socially distanced place.

Fresh off the dealer, we drove right to Sawmill!

This is my second time at Sawmill Campground, and every time we go, we have an amazing time! The hubby and I recently bought an RV. The minute we pulled out of the dealer with our new toy, we headed straight to Sawmill for Mardi Gras weekend! Since it was last minute and it was a popular weekend, we stayed at their overflow area which is called Kumquat. We had the last spot with electric hookups. We thought we were kind of far from all the action, but it turned out we were pretty close to the pool so we were excited. If you've never been, Sawmill has it all. There is a great pool where everyone hangs around during the day. There is a restaurant/bar called Splash where we refilled our beverages several times :). They have a night club with great drag shows, and of course on the weekend there is the Garage where things get dark and fun! The nature trails are great too! And finally, what gay camp wouldn't be complete with their very own Ricki Lake! Every time we've come to Sawmill, we make great new friends, and this time was no exception. I couldn't think of a better place to spend our first camp fresh from buying our first RV. We'll definitely be back soon Sawmill!

I just went the weekend before Halloween 2020 and had the best time! Very impressed with social distancing guidelines sawmill followed! I felt completely safe every where! I had so much fun! The restaurant was extremely convenient and very well managed and organized! They really have a great system in place! The drag show was so funny! Im more into camp drag then the serious beauty contest drag and let me tell you I was laughing and really enjoying myself to the show! Excellent german outfit contest too! Really creative ways to make people laugh! Pool was clean and heated! I wont go in a freezing pool lol it was perfect temperature! Thanks for providing a safe and fun place where gays can really feel happy and free!

Im 33 and want to go sometime this month, is Covid limiting the amount of "playing" there? I want to go but i want to enjoy more than the sites.

The best thing to do is to call them and find out what the current policies. That being said, I would hesitate at any amount of "playing" there, even if there are limits.

Hi there would like to know how much it would cost to come down for a week?

The rates are at flsawmill.com U need a membership fee annual. As well. All depends if u tent , rv, cabin .

Couple if locals were inside. Bar tender we had was a charming playful gentleman. Sense i came more for my company than the place, i chose to focus my whole being on them so I didn't take pictures. I will definitely be back to give it an honest full package review. They got karaoke, a pool table n a nice outdoor patio with privacy walls. I didn't go back out sense it really takes half of beer to get me drunk. I wasn't gonna flop like waffle into the floor. I think 2 hours in we saw more gentlemen come in and madams also. It is a nice chill spot. No drama, just a bunch of folks getting wrecked on the $15 drink all night special n singing karaoke. I never done karaoke but i promise i will next time. Ima bring my cat-girl super power out! How was the date? Definitely moving forward with the conquest! We after party n i got home around 3am lol so i had a blast. I've been to many gay establishments from Portland ME to San Francisco, CA. Upon arrival at 11:00pm the building looked dilapidated. The parking lot was dirt and the arrival experience gave an impression of being an unsafe area. The doormen we're welcoming and cordial. The bar tender was very nice too. Our Drag Show experience was constantly interrupted by a belligerent extremely intoxicated female patron as you can see below in the screen shot. She should have been escorted from the club and kicked to the curb. She was interrupting the show and harassing patrons to the point that we left 15 minutes after the show started. I understand it's a small club. It is what it is and serves the gay community in Lakeland, FL. Would I return? Possibly. Only if you put a muzzle on the belligerent drunk with the trucker mouth.
