I have emailed the company to let them know if it helps at all with their quality control. A friend that lives in the UK shipped me a box of Bendick's Mint Collection as part of my Christmas package. So I love chocolate and mint and was excited to try this. However, while eating a bittermint, the oil hit my throat and I started choking and coughing violently. My body hated this so much, that the super strong reaction caused bloody snot to also come out my nose and mouth. After getting to the bathroom with a trash can to my face, and the coughing going on for about 20 minutes, it had finally diminished so that I could drink some water. My throat was on fire. Here's August Storck to the rescue with their sugar free version of Werther's Originals. Yes, it's possibly to have candy and these hard candies actually more than decent. Storck's sugar free candies are made with sugar alcohols that are sweeteners with tastes and textures similar to those of sugar, but fewer calories and a less significant effect on blood sugar levels. These are isomalt - a mixture of two sugar alcohols -- mannitol and sorbitol. Isomalt has a glycemic index of TWO, which compares to regular white table sugar (sucrose) that has an glycemic index of 65. So yeah, these are okay on a keto diet as far as my research goes.
