My son got his first haircut here. I was very surprised bc he didn't cry. His barber was also excellent with him. The only reason I took off a star is because I asked for a bowl haircut to preserve his baby face and I even showed pics, but the barber gave him a different cut instead. It wasn't a bad haircut, it was clean, but did make him look older. I will try this place again in the future. Maybe I'll ask for a female barber bc men don't ever seem to listen. Lol. read more

A girlfriend of mine recommended this location at the beginning of the year for my then 3 year old son. As a first time mom, I had been very reluctant to have anyone cut my boy's hair which is why it took me 3 years to finally do it. As recommended, I requested Maria and have been having her cut my son's hair ever since. The shop is split into two areas; one side for adults and the other catered towards children. Each chair is in the shape of a train, plane or car in different colors. They have a seating area for waiting parents, music and a small flat screen TV that the kiddies can watch while getting their cut. Maria is amazing, she has so much patience with kids and she cuts hair very well. She keeps my son calm and when he gets jittery she gives him a little time to relax, then gets back to finishing the job. She is super sweet and is there 5 days a week. At this time they charge $16 for a boy's hair cut which I think is a good deal considering the at times hard work it takes to cut kids hair. They also have a bucket of lollipops for the kid's after finishing up. Would definitely recommend Steve 3000 and I highly recommend Maria for all you parents in search for someone you can trust with your child's hair! read more

Called for an appointment arrived a minute before scheduled given time... was told she just started one person and then had another waiting... why did I call and was told to come rushing there within 15 minutes?!! if they schedule an appointment they shouldn't take other customers or ensure they will finish in time was told I had to wait 40 minutes then asked for a simple lighting design looked at me like I asked for the moon and stars will not be coming back nor recommended this place wasted my time, gas and energy. NEVER AGAIN! This has to be one of the worst place I went to get a haircut. There was no one waiting when I got there, so I should be next to get a haircut. However, after waiting for 20 minutes the barber that freed up takes on someone who he knew and asks me to wait for the next barber. I'm like WTH. Bit dumbstruck I didn't know how to respond to that. After a brief pause, I asked how long do I have to wait for the next barber? Then he goes to check and the next guy won't be free for at least another 10 mins or so. We just had the most amazing experience at this barbershop. It was my son's first haircut (at 13.5 months). We were greeted at the door with a smile and were taken in immediately without an appointment. The shop has two areas, one side for adults and the other for kiddies. Ms. Jennifer was so wonderful. She chose a great car for my son to sit in. Strapped him in (safety first), gave him a toy car to hold and put on a Curious George video. The entire haircut was quick and came out so stylish. She even styled his hair before we left. She made my little one feel so comfortable. And to top everything off, we left with a certificate and a few pieces of my son's hair!! Horrible customer service. I called & inquired about a haircut for my son. They said they didn't do appointments & I have to walk in. When walked in with my toddler, no one greeted me. All the barbers were looking down and not one person said "I'll be right with you." About 5 mins pass by and a Chinese family walk in with their little boys & the Chinese woman working there (I think her name is Maria) looks up to them and greets them. When she was done she walks up to me and asks me if I have an appt. I said no because the man I spoke to said they don't do appointments and I should just come in. She rudely told me that those people have appointments and I can't be helped. Then she walk away & starts small talk with the Chinese family like she knows them. She clearly didn't want to service me and my son. She was so rude to us. What's worse is that my son was already playing with the toys and when I had to take him away to leave he started crying uncontrollably. No one cared. They lost my business that day. If you want to be in good hands with a barber that will attend to your child's needs, this is NOT the place to be. Go elsewhere. read more

My little guy picked out his favorite train seat to sit in, and with the help of a toy and a lollipop he sat still for the entire haircut. We were in and out in 20 minutes. I used to go the Steve's all the time before I moved... Today I was in the neighborhood and decided to get my haircut at Steve's. I waited for "sal" he informed me he had one more.... Since then he took three more customers ahead of me. When he was done with the last one he informed me he had two more all of which came in after me!!! I ended up walking out!! Besides the horrible customer service Steve's is not what it used to be... The shop is messy, customers who don't have a specific barber are ignored! I will never go back and I do not recommend anyone waist king there time at Steve's. read more

I've brought my 2 year son here for several haircuts in the past. The dark-haired lady always did a decent job. Unfortunately today I had such a bad experience, I'm definitely going to be looking for another barbershop that cuts children's hair. We went early (as soon as it opened) and this tall man was the one who came over to cut my son's hair. There are pictures on the mirror to give you suggestions on haircuts you may want. I always pick the same picture (Prince George's side swept hair). This man started to shave the sides of my son's hair, which I thought looked a bit short but I figured he's a professional he must know what he's doing. Next thing I know, I see my son's hair all unevenly shaved. There's chunks of longer pieces of hair and the hair is sticking out in certain parts..it just looked so jagged and uneven. It isn't until I pointed out some longer pieces that he tried to even it out. He started to work on the top on his head by grabbing random chunks and just cutting away. Most of the time he was too busy looking outside the window instead of looking at my son's hair. There seemed to be no technique, just grabbing and cutting. Now, the hair in the front of my son's face is short and straight across his forehead like Jim Carey in dumb and dumber. I expressed my dissatisfaction and he got defensive and asked me how he could fix it then. Well, unless he has magic hair potion to make it grow back to how it was..there was nothing he could do. Now, I understand it's a 2 year olds hair cut..not a big deal right? But I'm paying for a service that yes, he provided, but did so horribly. If I wanted this kind of haircut, I could have just grabbed any old scissor in my house, closed my eyes, grabbed a bunch of my son's hair and cut away. But no, today I went out of my way to pay $16 for a really terrible haircut. Good thing is, hair grows back. Until then, I'll just be reminded of this day whenever I look at his doofy looking bangs on his adorable looking face. Thanks a lot! read more

This place never lets me down. I have 3 boys and they love getting their haircuts here. They have toys and videos to occupy the kids why they're waiting and the wait is never long. I always try to call ahead so all the boys can get their hair cut at the same time and they are always so accommodating and they give a great cut. Worst experience ever! Took my soon to be 2 yr old over here because i saw that it had fun seats to get a cut in. Went in the place was small and had 3 used and abused seats for children and they had seats on the other side for grownups. So my son goez for a cut and he was difficult but the barber seemed impatient and annoyed. I told the barber how i wanted the cut to be. He started out good then vroom all my sons hair was gone. I was so freaking mad because he didnt even tried to fix it .he just wanted us out of his chair. He then charged me $15 bucks . We have a toddler, so my husband wanted to try and get a haircut himself to check the place out before bringing my son. They are supposed to be good with kids. Unfortunately, they were very cold to him when he walked in the door. No one looked up. When another guy walked in after him, perhaps he was a regular, he sat himself down and was attended to. This is a fun place. Every barber in here comes from some place other than the U.S. They've got guys from Greece, Russia, Israel, even Uzbekistan. And tell the truth...haven't you always wanted to get your hair cut by somebody from Uzbekistan? The walls are lined with flat screen TV's you can watch from your chair while getting your haircut. And there are always sports on. Thankfully, no Oprah...no Dr. Phil, no soap operas. Because of the foreign influences, it's mostly international soccer, which is fine with me since I'm a fan. Been going to Steve's for a couple yrs now and love the place. I'm active duty stationed here in New York so my hair needs cut every 2wks and they do a great job. The price is within range of what a shaved high and tight should be and the hot shaving lather and towels are a perk. I tried several in the area before going here and this shop has the best atmosphere and I'm very picky when moving to a new duty station trying to choose a barber.
