I had a few ideas of which food I wanted based on their catering menu, but Dan made some great suggestions that I had not thought of. Additionally, he covered all the details that our event venue didn't even mention to me. For example, he asked how I would be playing music and I had no idea. He told me the options provided by the venue and recommended types of music that would be good for this type of event. Note that the venue I used was not associated with his catering company - he was just being nice and helpful. He was also very easy to get in contact with. I have definitely worked with other event-related services that are hard to reach and it is a nightmare, so consider this important aspect if you need your event to go well! The planning aspect of it all went so smoothly and I could not have done it without his help. The evening of the event, caterers were already hard at work by the time I got there. They had set everything up - buffet tables, tablecloths throughout venue, bar with bartender, etc... All I had to do was connect my phone to the Bluetooth for music and start greeting guests when they came in. They seriously made it so easy and I feel like that isn't even their job. Each staff member was friendly and helpful. I could ask them anything and they'd gladly help me find the answer. Not only that, but the FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!! I wish I had taken pictures but I was too busy with hosting. Everyone I talked to at the event raved about the food choices. We had the following items in the buffet: -Salmon with Ginger Soy Glaze -Stuffed Chicken Breast (Herb Cheese with Balsamic Drizzle) -Broccoli Pancotto -Vegan Summer Pasta -Vegan House Salad -Fresh Breads with Butter -Dessert: Cake Shots -Drinks: Soda, Water, Beer, and Wine In summary, I would strongly recommend Hendri's for anyone who needs a catering service! His largest group is between 60 and 100. I think one of the more popular of his services is coming to people's homes and cooking a gourmet meal for a small group of family and friends. Wedding's tend to me super stressful, and the people planning it can be hyper active, irrational, controlling, etc. There is absolutely no need to be this way with Kirk. My whole philosophy during the planning of the wedding was to let the good professionals do their job while I had a good time. I chose Kirk because I was terrified of serving "bad wedding food". I started searching for caterers online and found a mountain of results. I had no idea how to winnow down to a good, wine friendly caterer. After contemplating the problem for a while, I emailed Catherine Neville, editor and creator of Sauce Magazine. She emailed me back with three or four names. I hit the jackpot! I went with Kirk because of my love of King Louie's restaurant, which is sadly, no longer; he was a chef there a few years back. I also chose him because he was confident, laid back, and capable of providing the most services. He was willing to be a go-between for the tables, chairs, china and what not. He also understands wine--which is what we served our guests, instead of an open bar. Kirk sent me some sample menus, some pricing. I consulted with my father, who was going to find the wine. We okayed a menu and that was the end of it until the wedding. The food was gorgeous and, according to my guests, sooooo good. I was, of course, too wound up to eat. And I knew I would be. It was buffet style. I didn't want to deal with telling my guests where to sit, or having to choose between chicken or beef. So, there was fingerling potatoes, asparagus, crusty breads, chunky salads with goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, little bites of toasts with salmon and some kind of spread, dates with cheese--and much much more. So, with Kirk, his menus tend to use the most obscure name for things--which required constant Google searching while reviewing the sample menus. The only other "tip" I have is if you are working on a wedding, make sure to ask for a separate plate for the bride (for after the wedding), and make sure you get all the leftovers. I think there was some food we paid for, but didn't get to take home. I could be mistaken--but I find it improbable that my guests ate all the petite fours! After the wedding, one of my guests told me that her cousin had hired Kirk to come to her home and make a dinner for her and friends, and that it was so much fun, and so good. I didn't doubt it. I highly recommend working with Kirk for any event. You will not be disappointed, especially if food quality is important to you.

Wonderful Venue for Private Event!…read more We had a wonderful experience from start to finish for a Champagne Brunch we held at Wild Flower Loft in mid-December. Jackie was on top of everything while planning the event and was very kind and quick to reply to all of my questions along the way. They were very flexible by allowing us to hire a florist of our choice for centerpieces and by having the chef customize menu items to accommodate our tastes. Nate was our captain/host the day of the event and was on top of everything from helping us get the music playlist running (they have a wireless Sonos speaker system), to setting up their projector and screen so we could run a slideshow during the event. All of our guests thought the venue was beautiful, and everyone commented on how delicious the brunch was (guests are still talking about the ham and egg strata - yum!). The venue has amazing character with a beautiful tin ceiling, fireplaces, and multiple windows, plus it was beautifully decorated for the holidays. It is up one flight of stairs (there is a landing halfway that can accommodate a chair if you have guests that need a rest), but once you are upstairs everything you need is there (restrooms, coat racks). Overall, the perfect venue and experience!

The eggs on the menu were described as Nantucket eggs with lobster, crab, shrimp and a lobster creme sauce. What we got was scrambled eggs with a handful of flavorless shrimp tossed in. The more expensive seafood was clearly left out. Also on the menu were scalloped potatoes which were somehow soggy and burned at the same time. The cheddar biscuits were completely dry. There were two pats of butter at the buffet table for an entire party of 30 to use. The french baguette was toasted to a crisp and hard as rock. The absolute worst were the egg salad sandwiches, which had clearly been prepared over a day in advance. The bread was so dry you could barely pick up a sandwich without it breaking. The egg salad inside was bland and boring. The only thing that wasn't terrible was the fruit (and how could someone mess up fruit?) but it still was served in tiny portions and the fruit station was not refilled to keep up with the pace of the guests in the buffet line. The restaurant may have decent food (I can't say for sure, I haven't ever eaten there) but using the loft area for a private event was a huge disappointment. We were livid at the quality of food we were given for the price we paid. I've had a better meal at IHOP. If you are thinking about using the Wild Flower loft, don't do it! Save your money and go somewhere else!
