Hello friend. You are here because you want to know more about Hana,…read more You're here because you're looking for something ... you didn't come to this page by accident, something brought you here. This is my 3rd updated review. You can read my previous two reviews to see my experiences and thoughts during my time at Hana. I want to address several people at the church whom I feel you should connect with should you choose to visit. Pastor Joshua - He is the head senior pastor. Well-spoken gentleman. Extremely nice man, articulate, enthusiastic message-giver, humble, humorous, well-built, loving father of 4 daughters, husband to an amazing wife, caring, compassionate but really truly wants to best in everyone to grow and be passionate, God-fearing servants to our Heavenly Father. He is one of the reasons why I came to this church. You can see his sermons on Hana's Youtube page. Check there to see if the message he delivers truly reaches out to you. It did for me. I enjoy his powerful emotions and his knowledge of the Word. His sermons were pretty much the deciding factor for me to choose Hana as my home back in mid-2014. Pastor Sun - When you speak to him, very approachable and easy-going, friendly and connects to people so well. One amazing thing, when it comes to translating and giving the Word, oh man, he speaks like a scholar, he is not what you say articulate but intelligent in a different way. When you read/watch his daily devotionals (Check the Hana Facebook page), you will see why he's so different. He is a father to 4 astounding kids, Husband to a wonderful wife and a true-to-heart Laker fan (I like this guy already. Mentioned the Lakers in his first sermon at Hana... how can you not like him?) - Humor aside - suggested to speak to him if you choose to visit. Chris - Every new visitor should engage conversation with Chris on first meeting. He's my hyung, the first person who welcomed me when I first came to Hana and his hospitable greeting to me made me feel real good and made a great impression. This guy is passionate for the Lord and his knowledge of the Bible that he's received over the years has been a marvelous thing and inspiring. He's a caring brother to all the guys in the church. He is hard-working but is that dude you want to lean to for any brotherly help. Jisoo - Everyone loves her. You don't find people like Jisoo in this world. I say that not to rave but you just see it. She's a long-standing servant of Hana with her husband and son and daughter. She's also a deacon and is an absolute must to talk to when visiting Hana. I feel like when people see her, they see something special--symbolic to what I see at this church. So let me address that. Why do I make Hana my home? 1. The family feeling - When you make that decision to engage and get to know the people at the church, it feels like a family. The friendliness and kindness brings you in--whether its the elderly gentleman, or the front office secretary, or even the teenage high schooler, its a family connection. 2. Special people - When you give some time to get acclimated to the church, you find some of the most amazing people. There are people from all ages that are such loving, giving, helpful servants who really care and really encourage and reach out when people are dealing with situations. These special people are warriors in prayer and even the kids are tuned in as well. Their hospitality, kindness is just almost unexplainable. You appreciate it alot. What's also good is there are times when sitting and chatting with a church member, there's a feeling of comfort and enjoyment amongst brothers/sisters and just how helpful they want to be. The community amongst the church is special. 3. Friday Bible Study - This is the one area that all visitors MUST MUST MUST engage in. To get deep and to really go hard into life, Christ and the Word, I absolutely, emphatically want you to give 1 month of coming to Friday Bible Study. This is the place where deep connection and fellowship is received. I believe much of my understanding and maturity came from being here in Bible study - Pastor Joshua really makes you think and it's such a powerful, emotional time. There are baby Christians and there are mature Christians in every church you visit. Find your way within Hana and experience just 1 month of what I mentioned. Allow yourself to see if God has brought you to be at Hana. You're searching and seeking ... maybe this could be that place. Whether you do or don't, may God bless you and be with you wherever you go - but always stay with the Lord, only HE can show you the way. Much love. Maybe I'll meet you if you visit us.

Pastor Joshua is amazing. His words really resonated with me. Hana church introduced me to Christ…read morethrough a very hard time in my life. I cannot thank them enough. 10 stars if I could.

The biggest issue with the church now is the parish office. Calling is a disaster. Calling for Last Rites is even worse. There have been several occasions not just from my own personal experience of calling but others as well where they call repeatedly before they can even talk to someone let alone get a call back. That's upsetting when you're calling for something like Last Rites. Today my personal encounter at the front office really has me questioning who is hiring the people who work here and why there's a lack of basic people skills. The old lady behind the glass is very rude. I donated several bags full of baby goods but the fact that I was treated so poorly bringing these items to them really made me feel like I did something wrong in donating to them. As for the church itself, it can be VERY crowded at times which makes parking even worse. The padded kneelers (especially in the section in the back for the kids) is completely ripped. Might as well just not have them in there at all.

The kids ministry and Jr High ministry have been an absolute blessing. The small groups Bible studies "rooted" and "Jesus Changes Everything" have been so great for my wife and I. We were a little overwhelmed when we first attended, new and in a bigger church than our previous, and these small groups helped us find a great community, a group that will pray with you, and celebrate life victories with you. No place is perfect. But for my family and I, it's definitely become a place we have no trouble calling home.

I was deeply invested and invited many family and friends to join. Sadly, my experience eventually became one of hurt and disillusionment. In 2020, during the Rooted program, a confrontation occurred where I reacted in anger to disturbing language from another attendee. I am transparent about my mistake; I used profanity and I own that. However, leadership focused solely on my reaction while ignoring the context of my life: I was currently navigating a divorce, the death of my brother, a job loss, and a traumatic physical attack that left my hand severely injured. Not one person from the church visited me during my hospitalization. Under the leadership of Connie Surratt and Autumn Igo, my serving privileges were removed, then quietly restricted even after being "reinstated." I felt intentionally hidden and denied any real pastoral care despite my attempts to engage. Two Easters ago, I was accused by security of yelling at someone at the altar. This was entirely false I was actually greeting longtime friends from my Bible study. This culminated in a scene where a leader (Gwen) physically grabbed my arms and verbally assaulted me in the parking lot, witnessed by other volunteers (Dean and Janet). Despite it being proven that the accusations against me were false, no apology was ever offered. I remained "on penance," feeling like a child walking on eggshells with angry parents. The breaking point was the treatment of the vulnerable. On a day we were taught about helping the community, I saw a pregnant woman with children being surrounded by security and recorded by staff. When I asked to help and feed her, I was told she was being removed at the instruction of Autumn. I later found the woman around the corner in tears; she asked if she could pray for me. It was heartbreaking. This, alongside a later incident where a man from the church harassed me at a post office for "trying to buy my way into heaven" by helping another woman with diapers, showed a distorted view of mercy within the culture. Three weeks ago, I was approached by Autumn and Daryl after a service. Despite my request for witnesses, Autumn made serious, false accusations of verbal and physical abuse against me in front of my friends. I was told to leave and never return under threat of police involvement. This felt like a coordinated attempt to discredit me and separate me from the community I love. Since leaving, I've met many others with strikingly similar stories. If my full story had been heard openly rather than discussed behind closed doors, I believe I would have been met with understanding. Instead, I felt watched rather than shepherded, and defined by assumptions instead of relationship. I am not perfect, but what I experienced was not restoration it was control and image management. I am grateful for the hundreds of kind individuals in the congregation who reflect Christ; they are the reason I stayed so long. I pray for accountability at Seacoast Grace. Revelation reveals the heart of a church, and I speak this truth with love for those who have been pushed away like me.

We've been attending this church for about six or seven months now. I have two teens--one 15 and…read moreone 13--and overall, it's been an outstanding experience. The biggest reason? Pastor Joe. His leadership is exceptional, and it truly shows throughout the entire church. I recommend checking out the Church's YouTube channel and his teachings, especially his series on the Gospel of Matthew. Watching those will give you a sense of his teaching style, personality, and what the worship services are like. My teens are genuinely engaged and seem to be developing real, growing relationships with the Lord. I've honestly never seen anything quite like it. The youth groups and teens all meet on a Thursday night, not on Sunday at Sunday school. This allows them to be in the service with their parents on Sundays to get acclimated to the word of God that is being taught. I really appreciate that Pastor Joe teaches straight from the Bible--he literally has it in hand and doesn't rely on a pulpit or laptop. He's also a professor at a Christian university and holds a doctorate in divinity with a focus on Old Testament studies. His preaching centers on authentic Christianity--what it means to live daily in relationship with God through Jesus, the Messiah. For those who want to take their faith seriously, this church is a great place to be, and I truly love that. There are also many groups and classes you can join to learn and grow alongside others. I haven't noticed anything theologically off, overly charismatic, dry, or unbiblical. I know what it's like to search for a good church! It sucks! It's like having to date somebody for three or four times only to find out they're not the one to keep. Overall, I'm confident that this is a truly solid place to grow in your faith.

A friend told us about Living Hope, and when I saw the staff and saw all Korean folks, I'll be honest, I was thinking, no thanks. I heard so many stories about Korean churches, that they were either drama or super cliquish. Not so with Living Hope, and I was really grateful for that. The kids program at Living Hope are great, but more than that, the teachers love God and love the kids. That's really all that I could ask for. But there's more. There are so many ways to serve, get connected, and to know people, so that it's a really great place to get plugged in. Here's a concise rundown of the church: Church Services: https://www.livinghopecc.org/sundays 9:30am Service - Mostly families because kids services are during this time (Infants - 5th grade) 11:30am Service - Mostly singles and college (though youth is during this time as well) - Cool thing is that the founding pastor is still here! Pretty amazing - They have cell groups for families and singles - If you're new and want to get to know the church, there's something called first lunch every month where you get to have lunch with some of the pastoral staff to get to know them and ask questions - They're non-denominational - But truly this is so unique in that their pastors have different stances, but the Christian core beliefs are all the same
