This is a great neighborhood park. There's a tennis court, a basketball court, and a 4-Square/whatever else you want to play court, a small hill to hike up, and a flat area to run around in and do park things. This is where my dog comes to wrestle tree-branches and play basketball (that's right, she loves to play with basketballs).
My favorite day-off ritual is to "hike" up the hill with my dog and take in the view of Dorchester and Quincy, all the while praying she doesn't drag me down after seeing a squirrel or some other small wildlife. The hill itself is pretty rocky (formerly known as Rocky Hill) and parts of it are COVERED in glass. I imagine this is a pretty nice drinking spot for the under-aged after dark. I don't intend to find out. Let me just drive home the point by illustrating that there are certain paths and nooks that may as well be mosaic-ed given all the different colored glass covering the area.
Again, (see Savin Hill Beach review) there are a lot of off-leash dogs in this area (which could be good or bad, depending on your dog situation) but none of them nasty or dangerous. (Mine is the leashed one wrestling with giant tree limbs, or waiting patiently for you to come play.)
Probably not worth a drive over if you don't live in the area - but it's my local haven for recreation. read more
