The absolute worst grocery store I have ever had the displeasure of being forced to shop at. Other than the appalling price gouging and generally selling produce that rots within a day of buying it, they like to do fun things like close the pharmacy on Saturdays without bothering to tell anyone, or even exert the most minimal effort possible for their customers to leave a sign up stating the change. Presumably, they're now closing the pharmacy on weekends because they are "shortstaffed" but I would guess they're short staffed because nobody wants to work for the most selfish, greedy, self-serving human beings on the planet, unless they are desperate with no other choice. Avoid whenever possible. read more

When I visit I find there prices very reasonable! The selection is great. I live in a large population area and see great prices in Salmon. For the distances necessary for shipping, the population of Salmon is fortunate! read more

Saveway has a Large selection of food. But it is very expensive. And very unaffordable. The service at Saveway is good. Up to a point. One of the owners was very rude to me and told me that I didn't have to shop there and if I didn't like their answers , they said they would have to take other steps to deal with me. You can only do that when you own a third of the town and purposely make sure that there are no other supermarkets to compete with. The employees always look exhausted, because the store is closed on Sundays, and therefore they must all take Sunday off and another day during the week. After one of the owner's responses to my questions, I decided to shop in Hamilton, Montana unless I must get something during the week. The worst policies I have ever seen at a business, hands down! The fruit is either tasteless, or rotten on the inside. To make it worse, the management won't take responsibility for their own products. Most to all of the staff look like they are zoned out and they do not smile. You ask a question at the front desk and they make you feel like you are somehow wasting their time. I rarely fill out reviews, but this is the only supermarket in a small town. I feel bad for the residence. If I could give less than one star I would but the establishment was clean and well stocked. read more

Sale prices not always in their computer. So you're charged the regular price. So you pay look at receipt then you have to go to customer and it's an act to get your money refunded. Prices overall high Mainly store brand products. Pulled pork in Deli is very good. read more

I would avoid this store if at all possible. If you are coming to Salmon to hunt, fish or recreation, get your groceries before getting here. I went this morning. What a nasty experience, the restrooms were filthy and smelled like a sewer. No one was wearing a mask or social distancing. My checker was rude. She had a snarky nasty attitude. She was chomping on her gum so badly, spit was coming out of her mouth. She then touched your food. Don;t request a separate bag for meat, that sends her totally over edge. If you care for you or your loved one's health, avoid this monopoly at all cost! We are in a pandemic and not one employee is wearing a mask or using sanitizer...but yet there's a sign on the door to wear masks and social distance. Guess it doesn't mean for owners/employers...just germy patrons. Dirty environment, unfit for humans or hounds. Produce is deplorable at best and handled by employees with no masks and most likely no hand washing. What virus or bacteria is being spread in the deli? No masks or hand washing happening there either. Must not be any health district in this town! Prices are incredibly high because owners know they have you caught being the only grocery store in town. Oh, and who really pays attention to expiration dates? The good- only full grocery store in salmon. Large selection at the deli. They bag your groceries. The bad- The prices are high. Produce is very iffy, some ok and some not so good. They at closed on sundays. The owner of the store is a real jerk. The employees seem very unhappy, probably because their boss is mean to them. Watch the dates on this like yogurt and milk, sometimes they expire in one day. The whole town wants another grocery store, wish competition would come in. read more

Ok so staying in Tendoy with family and have been to this market 3 times! What a great store and servicing all my needs except they don't carry Brie cheesealso, I was horrified by the tweeker checkout lady (tiffanee)!!!she was all over the place and wasn't checking things out together! Then she kept sayin ohhh ohhhh, then put her hands on the counter and dropped her head down like she wanted to take a nap! This is the reason for the 3 stars otherwise I would have given 5!!!! Stopped in for last minute food items before our salmon river trip. We grabbed extra beer after doing some math the night before and decided we needed more. We also found all the other random food items we needed. We all stopped at the hot food bar and got all different snacks for the car ride and lunch. The workers were nice. 1st time customer, bought 2 pkgs of skinless, boneless chicken thighs, for a total of $18.03 with a sell by date of 7-9-18. Today is 7-8-18 and both pkgs of chicken were Rotten! Stunk to high heavens. Now! In order to get my money back, I will have to spend even more money for gas to drive 116 miles roundtrip to take the rotten chicken back! Of course it's Sunday and just after 6:00 p.m. so store is closed. Will Not be a return customer, except to get my money back. read more

This is it folks- the biggest shopping experience in Salmon. I know we live in a small town but the food is overpriced (due to absolutely no competition in town), the produce is terrible and the lines are long. I shop here because I don't feel like driving to Missoula a lot but honestly, I wouldn't write home about Saveway. I've lived in a lot of small towns with better grocery stores and selections. I'm surprised the people of Salmon haven't at least demanded better produce yet. read more

While i do enjoy shopping here, there are a few things that would make the experience a bit better. Recently one of the checkers (Star Trek lapel pin) was complaining about having to stay late and how EXHAUSTED he was. That's not something i need to hear as a customer. Also, it would be nice if the smoke breaks would happen around the side of the store instead of out front. I am impressed with the deals offered and the store is clean. We stopped here to stock up on food before an eight day rafting trip. I was a little frightened to shop here once I read the other reviews, but I tried to put my prejudgements aside, and boy am I glad I did! When I first walked in the door I was surprised at the sheer size of the place. It was comparable to other grocery stores I have been to, such as Fry's or Safeway. Anyway, onto the food - wow! I found the produce selection to be rather impressive. Many kinds of apples they had there at this store - five plus varieties I'm sure. The oranges looked a little sad, but luckily they had tangerines to fill the void. I have to say the cell phone car charger I bought there was sub-par. It cost $9, which is over $11 less than others I have seen for sale, but I fear the quality of the device left something to be desired. I found that it charged my phone at a slow pace, leaving me, at times, with almost no way to communicate via phone during the car ride. This worried me because I did not want to miss any texts from friends or neighbors of mine. This store even had really small containers of apple juice concentrate, which was just what we were looking for! Some of the meat was on sale for cents on the dollar. One employee was helpful when I couldn't find the Ziplocs because he showed me where they were located by pointing to the aisle and also saying the aisle number aloud. There were some weird people hanging out in a car in the parking lot, but I did not feel threatened. All in all I would encourage you to give this Saveway a try. It is truly a hidden gem. read more

I noticed the reviews were from 4 years ago. This store is very upscale for a small community. Akin to a Colorado City Market. Great selection of fresh fruit and veggies. Deli w hot food, bakery, and they opened another register as I was checking out because the lines started getting long. read more

WOW! Can you say expensive? I've now tried the produce section several times & it must be what other stores turned down, not good quality. You are welcomed by the employees having there smoke break at the front of the building. I feel like my cart needed a bath. They always have long lines. They have 10 checkout stands but you are lucky if 3-4 are open. I suggest a Sunday drive out of town. read more
