Our food took 45 minutes and we didn't order the pot pie The service was awful and when our food finally came out, what wasn't burned was cold. My husband was told the sausage was burned because it was all cooked earlier. ???? Then make fresh, not burned sausage. This place seems to cater to locals, and they apparently don't travelers money. My husband was told "you should just keep driving" . I've been in the hospitality industry for years, I've never seen, heard of, or experienced a bigger F you. read more

My husband and I recently visited Wally's Cafe and had an amazing experience! It's got all the perfect, homey, family-owned vibes that you just know is gonna make some great food. It's definitely worth the longer-than-usual wait! Your patience will be rewarded. I ordered their twist of a famous dish, the Wally Cristo, which was an absolute delight with its combination of fry bread, bacon, cheese, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. It's served with a side of rich, creamy apple butter that I should have ordered extra off. It's deliciously sweet. What unique and delicious meal! A beautiful execution of the classic dish! The Farmer's Omelet was packed with flavorful ingredients that satisfied my taste buds. It was jam packed with the goods (sizzlin' bacon, sausage, ham, cheddar cheese, seasoned country potatoes) perfectly enveloped in FOUR eggs (they're not stingy) and smothered in hot, yummy sausage gravy for only $12.95. No lie, this is one of the best omelets I've ever had the pleasure of eating! Overall, I highly recommend Wally's Cafe for their creative and tasty menu options. This is a MUST-TRY! I walked in five minutes to closing (I didn't check the hours sign) and they were still happy to seat me and get me fed. I got some sort of scramble (can't remember the name) with cheese over potatoes, with bacon, and it was great. Bottomless cups of coffee. This place is like stepping back in time. I actually had a sweet little old lady ask if I was being safe on my ride, to which I said "Yes ma'am, that's why I wear the gear". And she said she prayed for all us riders out there. Here you will find poor food, mediocre service, and high prices. Frankly, if Wally's was the only restaurant in town, the Beaver would have starved to death. Honestly folks, seek better. So this was a little interesting little hole in the wall in downtown salmon I like hitting the local joints for food and the sign on the door says hey we cook everything from scratch so don't expect it in a rush which was fine so at the bar since it was just me and of course there's one complete loudmouth who won't shut up about the fire and how about if we used a rake to take care of the forest floor we wouldn't be having these fires. I so badly wanted to run down to Ace Hardware and hand them a rake and say have at it idiot. Serving staff was nice bathrooms were nice although when the server did ask if I needed anything I said earplugs and she said we have some guests to bring their own. My husband & I are in the Salmon area for week-long camping trip. We saw the review and had to give it a try. What a great little place!! Our food was delicious and the service, unbeatable! Our waiter, Jimmy, was so kind and attentive. Always checking in and making sure everything was to our liking. A++ in my book! (And he reminded me of Dusty from ZZ Top! Bonus! Haha). If you're in town, definitely stop in. We loved to "old town charm" and the food and service was great! Waiting 20-30 minutes for our food was well worth it. Fresh and totally handmade!! Took a couple day ride this week with my wife in our new Winnebago R.V. We left our home town, Nampa, Idaho, and drove about six hours north-east to Salmon, Idaho. The drive was a relaxing, beautiful experience. We researched and discovered there are two R.V. Campgrounds in the City limits. The first one we arrived at is rated 3.7 stars out of 5 stars. Upon arrival we found the R.V. park completely empty. There was a handwritten sign on the front door of the office. The sign said "Go Away, No Dumping and No Camping". Okay, I though, this is not a great first impression. This R.V. Park is called "Century II Campground". We next drove to the second R.V. park and again, not impressed at all. The time was about 4:00 p.m. and the office door was locked. The building looked pretty shabby and I could see the campground looked full with a bunch of permanent trailers. A very shabby looking campgrounds. While we were sitting in our R.V. looking to find another R.V. park, the owner drove up and spoke to us. He was a senior citizen in his early 70's. He showed us a spot in his campground and we took it because it was getting late and we were tired. The owner spoke to us for a while. He was a very pleasant man who was born and raised in Salmon, Idaho and a Navy Veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict. He admitted he has 4 or 5 open spaces usually but for the most part campers are permanent residents in their R.V's. This R.V. Park is called "Salmon Meadows Campground". Next morning we decided to check out the downtown and catch breakfast at a local eatery. We chose to eat at "Wally's Cafe" on Main Street, due to the great "Yelp" ratings. We finally hit a home run! This Cafe was a nice friendly, clean restaurant with a wonderful breakfast menu. My eyes immediately gazed upon the huge breakfast specialty of the Cafe. It is called "Momma's Breakfast Pot Pie". The wife and I decided to share this huge delicacy. The contents included potatoes, bacon, ham, sausage, bell pepper, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs covered with a buttery, flavory puff pastry crust. Cheddar cheese topped it off. Best part was this huge, delightful, flavorful, hot breakfast joy was priced at only $11.95! If you ever visit Salmon, Id. go to Wally's Cafe and enjoy the Pot Pie. Dirty. Carpet disgusting, dust on everything. Silverware dirty. Went to try their Breakfast pot pie. The menu says will take 10-15 minutes for the pot pie, took over 30 minutes. Looked good, that's where it ends. Inside too dry, and lacked flavor. The waitress asked us how it was, and I said it was dry and could use some sausage gravy. Out came the cook and very loudly and impolitely informed us that we where wrong! We said we just did not care for the pot pie. More loud and rude things coming out of the cooks mouth. We paid our bill and left. Should have listened to our gut and left at the site of the filthy carpet. Won't be back. read more

I knew I was in a great restaurant when Princess (our server) handed me my food weapons (silverware). Princess and other staff were full of spunk, super friendly and kind. Used to be really good but not anymore. Service sucks. we walked in and they said sit anywhere, so we went to sit at the only table that was available and they said you can't sit there if there's only two of you. So they cleaned another table off and we sat there and my wife asked for something to be omitted from her food, and they said no substitutions after two strikes we got up and left. read more

Spent the night in Salmon and saw the reviews about this joint. Definately an old school Cafe. Note on the door says if your in a hurry go somewhere else. Service was slow because every table was occupied, but my coffee cup stayed full. I ordered the farmers omelette and my wife ordered biscuits and gravy. It was worth the wait and probably the best omelette I've ever had. I've never thought about putting gravy on an omelette but I will now. If your in a hurry, go somewhere else, but if your not, step back in time, have a conversation and enjoy a really good old school breakfast. read more

Stayed at a local hotel but I hate hotel eggs so I came here. The lady who served us also made the breakfasts. She was very home town nice. As a diabetic, I would've loved Splenda or Equal or Sweet N Low but real sugar was the only option. Normally I'd get a diet soda but the machine was broken. I ordered an omelet with potatoes and my wife ordered French toast with bacon and sausage. The bacon was unevenly cooked with part limp and part burnt. Sausage was pink in the middle. Potatoes were unseasoned. I at least wanted to praise the wait staff but there was a ten minute period where we were out of coffee. Definitely going to a different place when we visit again. read more
