Passing through town, looking for a spot to eat lunch after looking through the yelp reviews, we decided to head to the Junkyard bistro. It was almost 1 o'clock by the time we got there and we loved the old-time vibe of the place. Obviously, it was originally a bar that they have transformed it into the most amazing Bistro! After a friendly greeting from Eric at the bar, we seated ourselves there, they have daily drink specials, super cheap items like two dollar beers rotating daily. Anyway, back to the food, which is the most important part! I decided to order the Vietnamese Bah Min sandwich and my husband opted for the hot Italian sandwich. The sandwiches come with the choice of sides so glad we chose the homemade clam chowder which was off the hook! the chowder came when the sandwich arrived on a nice board. I'm always hesitant to order this item any place that isn't fully legit Vietnamese, but I have to say this was an incredible sandwich from the bread up to the top with the amazingly succulent pork grilled to perfection with a spicy sauce on toasted French bread, cucumbers, red onions, and a sprinkling a cilantro really rounded out the whole thing. My husband had a delicious hot Italian, not so hot that the lettuce on the top of the sandwich was still fresh. It had a beautiful slice of mozzarella and succulent meats. What an impressive lunch I felt like I could have been in the best bistro anywhere in the world and was so happy to be here with this crew. liked that you can watch the chef cook your meal right in front of you for a tiny kitchen She really puts out some great dishes. Trivia: What thing do the restaurants of the town all specialize in? - - - Maybe one of the funniest bartenders I've ever met. Look for the tall guy with the backwards hat and the mustache. Even though I knew I was looking for this place, I walked right past it. And when I walked in, I second guessed myself. "Is this really the spot with all the great reviews?" It is. The soup special was delicious. Apparently theirs is a whole town thing with making good soups and it shows. So tasty! And the banh min was delightful. Marinated nest that was flavorful without being too salty. Cucumbers, fresh and crunchy. Great beer selection. Super friendly servers/bartenders. Just get whatever special is in the board. "It's going to be a while" when we asked for a time she said "a while" proceeded to roll her eyes at us and act like she wanted nothing to do with our group. On our way out of Salmon this weekend we decided to stop for lunch and saw several reviews saying Junkyard Bistro is the place to go! We walked in to this unassuming little joint, and it was packed! The bar was full of people, and there was only one open table left, which we quickly snagged. The menu was surprisingly extensive - it had wraps, pastas, sandwiches, bahn mi, noodle bowls, burgers, and delicious appetizers. I ordered a mimosa, because it was brunch on a Sunday so I had to! $4 mimosas, and they had a great champagne to orange juice ratio. I got the Tammy's grilled veggie cheese which was so good, I've never had a grilled cheese like it before. It had cucumber, red onion, cheddar, spinach, and honey mustard and was a surprisingly really wonderful combination. I'm going to try to make my own at home - it sounds simple but I'd never thought of combining those items together in a grilled cheese before. I'll definitely be back to Salmon, and can't wait to come check out some more items on the junkyard bistro menu next time I'm in the area. There were so many options to choose from, it was so hard to pick what I wanted! Definitely get here early on the weekends, or call ahead for a reservation! The food was good but it took over 45 minutes to get our food. The one waitress stopped by 10 minutes into our time in the restaurant to ask us for drinks. She never returned to the table. A bartender came over and took our order and then never returned until he brought our food 35 minutes later. We asked the waitress to check on our food and she roller her eyes and walked away. We never received a refill on our drinks, never received the condiments we asked for and had to go find someone to get our ticket. Horrible experience. read more

So wait was an hour which was understandable because it was busy but our waitress Nykell ended up forgetting everything was on her phone most of the time and fighting with kitchen because her coworker called her out for not doing her job which he was absolutely correct we wanted to sit outside but the tables hadn't been busted until people actually sat there because they wanted to sit out there which understandable it was gorgeous out but anyway we didn't get our food until one of the kitchen staff looked at us and said what was your order and we told the nice young man and he instantly got us our food and was so sweet and kind and asked if we needed refills which he had got himself and then asked if we needed anything else and we said no. Ordered our food and sodas by 8:30. Got our sodas, after we moved into the bar area as there were no lights on in the back. Got our straws about 5 minutes later. Got our drinks served at 8:45. Food came out about 9. Then came the silverware. Food was not good, so much so my child only ate two pieces of bread it came with.
