This architecture reminds me of former Circuit City, cuz it used to be one before that whole entire company went out of business. There's a lot of merchandise although those shelves get a bit messy in some areas. The employees are nice. Self-checkouts available at this store. I've found a book that I liked for that reasonable price. Not too bad though not as interesting as most other Savers I've been to in CT. After visiting Savers in Milford, I was thoroughly disguste. The store was physically dirty and merchandise was in disarray. Pots, pans and dishes look as though they were never cleaned. Having been to other Savers stores in CT , this was by far the very worst. Even the clothes had a bad smell. The only thing that was good were a couple of employees who smiled and asked if I needed help. You would think the manager would have a little pride in their store. I guess they too busy () to care. This is an enjoyable place to shop. The clothes are a little overpriced but I get the 30% off geezer discount on Tuesdays, available to folk's 55 and older so it's not so bad. They have great prices on all their other merchandise, from crock pots, to vases and artwork galore. The staff are friendly, personable, upbeat, knowledgeable, and helpful. I love Savers and will continue to shop at Savers. But I am getting really sick and tired of the older lady at the cashier being snarky and mean for no reason. I accidentally tapped on paying w/ gift cards and wasn't able to return to the previous page. Had to wait for a cashier to come help me and unfortunately it was her. I've been thrifting for about 30 years . I've watched prices here go from the traditional low price tags for those less fortunate/ those on a budget to sky high prices . They definitely have taken advantage of the thrift trend and have almost abused it . I'd recommend going but expect to pay more for something pre loved than something you could get at another store brand new . I was looking for a piece of furniture to DIY. I went to 2 goodwill stores that were EXTREMELY overpriced. Used items that would be less expensive purchased brand new. I decided to try savers. I was pleasantly surprised. The prices were so much lower and there were some really good pieces of furniture. The item I found was missing shelves but it was in great condition and a quality piece of furniture. I couldn't believe they were only asking $15. When I was checking out the cashier was so friendly. She commented on the missing shelves to the unit and decided to ask the manager about it. He kindly went in the back and on the floor to search for them. Unfortunately, he could not locate them. So he offered to reduce the price. I couldn't believe it. I noticed some of the previous comments about the store not being clean but I thought it was much cleaner and more organized than the many good will stores I have visited. I have never purchased clothes here so I'm not sure about the quality but I would definitely recommend checking them out. read more

I'm giving this rating because the bathrooms were horribly dirty and messy. This isn't unusual for the chain, I've found many of their bathrooms in disrepair and unclean, but this one is definitely the worst I've seen yet. Savers has just come to New Haven. We went during the opening bash and a few times afterwards, but haven't gone recently. Why? They don't seem to rotate merchandise as quickly as Goodwill (i.e., the same item will remain on the Savers shelves for much longer than Goodwill) and the prices are higher at Savers than other thrift stores. I think the two things are related. Prices are high, so customers don't buy as much, which means things remain on the shelves longer, so thrifty customers don't feel like they need to go as regularly, which means less things get sold, which brings higher prices..... read more

Pretty good thrift store. Okay prices. Sometimes I find clothes that are a little too pricey for something that they received as a donation. But other times I find steals. And sometimes they aren't even sure what they got. I've found a lot of rare anime collectibles here that are worth well over $100 and I only paid about $2 for them. The thing about this place is that you never know what you're going to find really. The only thing is that this place is a little dirty. I feel the need to wash my hands after I leave the store. I would also never, ever buy a couch or a chair from here. They always look so gross and dirty. Like they never bothered to wash it. Some of the furniture looks nice but a lot of the times it looks dirty and has clear damage to it. But the prices can be a steal on them most of the time. So I guess it's fair. read more

This store was fucking gigantic, and a little intimidating, but still awesome. It also felt kind of skeevy, which is why I hesitate giving it four stars. Their book section was expansive and had a lot of variety, and they were organized by group (fiction, literature, cooking, etc.) but were not organized any further. This isn't normally a problem because there aren't typically enough books you can't skim through at a normal thrift store, but when their book section is this large, you better know what you are looking for. And I didn't :| I mostly looked at their books, knick knacks and furniture section (I saw a chair in pretty good condition for $15!), so I can't speak for their clothes. I did like how their pants were hung, sideways off the hanger, so you could easily see their sizes... since they were also "organized" by S/M/L - I saw an Ann Taylor's 14 in the Small section. About 75% of the store is dedicated to clothing, but there is a large used books and media (DVD, CD, VHS) section. There is some furniture, which tends to be nicer than what you can find in Goodwill or other thrift stores. Be warned, some sections of the store are not kept very clean, but at worst is average for thrift stores. A portion of all sales go to the Boys & Girls Club. read more

Maybe it's unfair to review a place that I was employed at for almost two years, but as an occasional shopper still I feel like I can write a review of the whole picture. First of all, the store manager that was there when I worked there has been fired for good reason. She treated the employees like animals and talked to us like we were in kindergarten. She was rude and disrespectful. The other managers followed suit and working there became a hellish experience. The store itself is okay. It was better when people actually cared about their jobs and the store was organized by color. Now it's just a mess of nonsense and it doesn't look pretty. The toys are always half broken, game pieces thrown all over the floor, just displaying the low class clientele that frequents the store. The prices have greatly increased, the bathrooms are disgusting, and Burlington Coat Factory is a five minute walk down the Post Rd, where you can buy brand new clothes cheaper. read more

This store just opened in the old Circuit City location on Post Road, and it is pretty interesting if you are looking for thrift-store type deals - sort of like a Salvation Army or Goodwill store, but even bigger with a lot more stuff and when I was there it was all pretty well organized. Check the walls for the plastic bags full of stuff for good deals. I went in expecting to leave empty handed and actually found a mini donut maker that I was looking at from Williams Sonoma over Christmas (it was $4 here vs $40 new) .. the toys in the kids section seemed to be a good deal, and the book department was packed with some pretty good books for pretty cheap. In these times we can all stand to save a little dough .. and this place is a good stop on your road to having more money in the bank. read more

Prices are way too high for a donated stuff. I'm a regular shopper here and I always go to the toy section. The prices now are like buying brand new toys, the only difference is you're paying incomplete and broken toys. I think there's something fishy with the people pricing these toys. One of the better thrift stores in the area in my opinion. Sure it's a mess sometimes (especially the toy section obviously) but it is a HUGE store. The book section is really awesome and I come here regularly for their science fiction and fantasy section. The clothes are organized by type and size. And you're like so what? WELL if you go just down the street and hit up the Goodwill that's near Best Buy you will see just how UNORGANIZED things can get! Selection is hit or miss. Some days I find a cart full of name brands like Nike, Polo, Banana Rep, Etc. Other days nothing. One thing that does make me not like this place is the terrible rude employees. No sense of customer service at all. One time I had about 5 or 6 big bags of merchandise, another big bag of heavy books and a wall shelf thing. Since yo can't take the carts outside I asked the cashier, an African American guy, if someone could help me bring the stuff to my car. He said not now because everyone is in the back loading stuff. wth?! I've never been to a store that wouldn't help a customer load their merchandise if they asked for help! I loved shopping at Savers when I lived in Springfield, MA because they often had very good quality items and things were well organized by size and color. The Orange, CT Savers was equally nice, and I found plenty of clothes on my first visit. Definitely worth a stop-in. read more

I would rate it higher if whoever was tagging items had any concept of sizing, so much here is sized incorrectly and even if they do size it properly, it's probably in the wrong place. I did get a leather coat for a stupidly low price, probably because someone tagged it incorrectly. I have now gone to this Savers multiple times with friends and we have all found a lot of great clothing, games, equipment, appliances, etc! I have saved a lot of money and enjoyed my time.
