Lately, visiting Goodwills to bargain hunt has become part of our travel itinerary during our vacations. So when we had time before leaving New Haven, CT for NY state, found this close by Goodwill superstore. My wife had success, buying a designer-name blouse and Pokemon branded shoulder bag/purse. Maybe she will alternate with her Aldi branded purse? In any case, good prices so even if it doesn't work out, not too much of a loss. Though, prices have definitely have gone way up from before where everything was pretty much priced based on function. Now, the pricers are definitely taking into account brand names along with condition. Definitely helps that info is available on the net now.

Haven't written a review in a while so here goes! My deals were solid. I didn't find anything wickedly overpriced like others have mentioned but I am starting a home decor blog and have been shopping at the likes of homegoods, target, and online auctions. My major complaint is that there was a family with 7-8 kids who were EXTREMELY loud to the point that I couldn't focus well on my shopping. Everywhere I tried to go, there the kids were. No parent was trying to wrangle them and at one point I heard an employee scream, "No running in the store!" 2x before the kids listened. I felt a bit vindicated but also felt bad because the employee shouldn't have had to do that. Some of the aisles were crowded and narrow, but I feel like that had to be done to maximize the amount of products in the three areas I was actually interested in: home furnishings, books, and home decor. 2-3 small aisles of furniture and they had some nice pieces. Great prices on all. A large gold rimmed mirror for $10 (I didn't get it because it wasn't in the best shape and was missing a mounting bracket). A gentlemen's butler for only $5 (I won one at auction for $15-$20). I bought a huge outdoor plant pot for $5! I got a tall indoor vase for $5 and two smaller ones for $2 and $3, which was weird because they're identical. No reason for one to be a dollar more. I bought a tea tin for $1 (annoying because it's literally a used piece of trash but the colors were great). I got three books, two were art books that I'll be tearing pictures out of and framing. One was $2 and the other $3. I forget how much the third book was but I bought it because it had a well-colored cover. I bought a unique bowl made of sticks for $5 and a piece of teak for $4! Real is super expensive. I believe it is a piece used to put planters on top of but I'll probably use it as a coffee table tray. Typical Goodwill. Pretty big store. Used to be a electronics store. Service is good. Selection changes every few days as usual.

I'm always on the hunt for VHS tapes & DVDs b/c I collect…read morethem! I'm ol' school & I much rather have the physical copies instead of everything being digital. There's just something about finding an old movie on VHS or DVD that I love! As far as this Goodwill location goes, though... it could def use a good cleaning. The store had that strong "old clothes" smell, & the floors looked like they hadn't been mopped in a while. I know it's a thrift store, but still! I've been to plenty of other thrift stores that don't have that smell & are much cleaner. I'll still browse b/c you never know what you might find, especially when I'm on the hunt for my VHS & DVD treasures! But I'd love to see this location get a good deep cleaning. I found a double VHS tape of Bruce Lee's The Chinese Connection plus doc still in the wrapper for $1.99. Scoreeeee!! I also bought a pair of new Christmas socks(w/ a blue tag so it was half off only 99cents). Goodwill has daily sales on specific colored price tags. The woman who checked me out looked like she was having a bad day so I def turned that smile upside down. I don't like seeing sad ppl. So I had to put a smile on her face before I left! She was quick & efficient checking me out w/ great customer service.

I would not give her any rating but a 0. She was Very Rude to me when I dropped off the items, and…read morewas extremely rude and vulgar when I picked them up. She called me a BITCH in front of two customers standing there and acted like a Bi-polar maniac off her meds, just because she was mad I picked up the items that I had left there. She also had originally told me that nothing had sold, but when I went to pick up the 11 items, 4 were all of the sudden sold, and of course they were the ones that had more value. Im sure they weren't sold for only $10 each, but I only received a check for $22. Which would be half of $44. I believe she kept them for her self to sell at a higher $ amount. This woman has the most vulgar mouth and is extremely rude! Im glad to see I wasnt the only one she treated this way after reading other reviews. Stay away from this shop unless you want to get ripped off! Im very sad that I even brought my mothers things there that she kept like new and cherished, now smelling like cigarette smoke. I was hoping they would go to someome who would love them as much as my mother did. But instead I realized what a big mistake it was to bring them to this shop! Hope you dont make the same mistake I made!
