Lately, visiting Goodwills to bargain hunt has become part of our travel itinerary during our vacations. So when we had time before leaving New Haven, CT for NY state, found this close by Goodwill superstore. My wife had success, buying a designer-name blouse and Pokemon branded shoulder bag/purse. Maybe she will alternate with her Aldi branded purse? In any case, good prices so even if it doesn't work out, not too much of a loss. Though, prices have definitely have gone way up from before where everything was pretty much priced based on function. Now, the pricers are definitely taking into account brand names along with condition. Definitely helps that info is available on the net now. read more

As it is spring, and time to downsize, I dropped off six more large bags. While I make regular donations, I don't usually walk through the actual store until today. I was amazed at the quantity of people that seem to enjoy shopping there more than what you see at the mall. The store was filled with predominantly people in their 20s and 30s. There was also quite a few families shopping for their children. The store is well organized and fully stocked. read more

Typical Goodwill but with different color tags than other Goodwills in the area. It's not big, regular size. Found here a good floor lamp. Unfortunately normally I don't find anything there for myself. Getting in and out may be complicated because it is on a very busy road. read more

Haven't written a review in a while so here goes! My deals were solid. I didn't find anything wickedly overpriced like others have mentioned but I am starting a home decor blog and have been shopping at the likes of homegoods, target, and online auctions. My major complaint is that there was a family with 7-8 kids who were EXTREMELY loud to the point that I couldn't focus well on my shopping. Everywhere I tried to go, there the kids were. No parent was trying to wrangle them and at one point I heard an employee scream, "No running in the store!" 2x before the kids listened. I felt a bit vindicated but also felt bad because the employee shouldn't have had to do that. Some of the aisles were crowded and narrow, but I feel like that had to be done to maximize the amount of products in the three areas I was actually interested in: home furnishings, books, and home decor. 2-3 small aisles of furniture and they had some nice pieces. Great prices on all. A large gold rimmed mirror for $10 (I didn't get it because it wasn't in the best shape and was missing a mounting bracket). A gentlemen's butler for only $5 (I won one at auction for $15-$20). I bought a huge outdoor plant pot for $5! I got a tall indoor vase for $5 and two smaller ones for $2 and $3, which was weird because they're identical. No reason for one to be a dollar more. I bought a tea tin for $1 (annoying because it's literally a used piece of trash but the colors were great). I got three books, two were art books that I'll be tearing pictures out of and framing. One was $2 and the other $3. I forget how much the third book was but I bought it because it had a well-colored cover. I bought a unique bowl made of sticks for $5 and a piece of teak for $4! Real is super expensive. I believe it is a piece used to put planters on top of but I'll probably use it as a coffee table tray. Absolutely horrible experience. These people need to appreciate what they are getting because the way they treat it is as if it's a pile of garbage. My mom and I brought a vase, a wreath, and a box of brand new shoes and a practically NEW small flat screen tv. As well as new business suits. Due to covid regulations, we had to grab a receipt for taxes and put everything in a bin. I gently put the wreath and the vase in the bin, my mom couldn't lift the shoes and tv belonging box so she gently put it on the floor. A woman about in her 40s came out as we watched her pick the box up and throw it in the box as if it was just as I mentioned garbage. Throwing the box could of ripped the suits and ruined them for that matter. This infuriates us, because we could of made money for this but we made the choice to donate because that's the kind of people we are, to donate to a charity. I will think about donating next time if that's the way my items will be treated because I wanted them to go to a new home. I hope this brings attention to someone because I am very annoyed by this whole scenario. ...by the way, we did call and she said that maybe the woman didn't know there was a tv in there. This doesn't matter at all because donations should be treated with care and not flung around. read more

Four stars despite the creeper who tried to talk to me about "vinyl" as I browsed the records for a gift. Speaking of records, I picked up the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, Herb Albert's Tijuana Brass' Whipped Cream and Other Delights (you know.. the album cover with the lady in chiffon and whipped cream!), and some tacky 80/90's R&B with four big dudes with their shirts off. Win! Also, their books were pretty good too. I picked up James Beard's Beard on Bread and an America's Test Kitchen's Best Simple Recipes. I didn't look at their clothes and their knick knacks were whatever, but James Beard and Dirty Dancing! Score for CT. read more

Okay, weird to be reviewing this place, I know. However, if you go once in a while - with no specifics in mind - you can walk out with some treasures. Today I decided to stop by after work and found 1) A brand new NE Patriots coffee mug for $ .50 and better yet, 2) a brand new pair of Chinese Laundry sandals in my size for $8 - Ha, beat that! Most of the time I am there to donate my "gently used" goods but you can get some good stuff if you have a little time to look around. read more

My 4 stars all go to TJ! He does the displays in the store. I loved his set up as you walk in. The day I went, one side of the entranceway was decorated like a little girls bedroom. It looked so good I thought I walked into the wrong store! All his set ups, throughout the store, made everything seem more inviting. He was also very personable & helpful! Today while I was at the Goodwill in Orange CT. I found a few things to try on I realized the dressing room was locked. I looked around and near by was an employee I asked her if she could unlock the door. I waited and saw she just continue what she doing and thought she didn't hear me. I asked again she snap and said " I heard you" very arrogantly proceeded to unlock the the door. Before I could say a word she immediately say Thank You in that arrogant tone. The store wasn't even busy I have been going to the store from when it started in West Haven never have I seen a disgruntled employee like this! She will not change my mind about this being my favorite Goodwill but I know I will be more careful who I asked to unlock a dressing room door there! read more

Just walked out. Stood at register for awhile,the only employee,5 feet from me was too busy putting out clothes to help.

This was my first time there and store was clean & organized. They had a 50% off sale on clothes & shoes so I picked up several pairs of pants & jeans for like $5.99 a pair. This included Calvin Klein and Levis. The clothes all looked clean and in good condition. I would go there again! If like me you are working on weight loss (keto diet here) and you don't want to keep buying new clothes as you get smaller, this is a good option until you reach your goal! read more

Still prices are on the rise. People shop here for deals cause they are either out of work or paid very little. To price shoes $10.00 & up USED....and just cause of the maker/designer.....to me is ridiculous!!!! Many items I can tell have been researched (most likely on Ebay). And the really crappy thing about that.....is the way items are being looked up and priced....is retail. They are not seeing what the item actually sold for (completed auction). So.....you the buyer are actually paying retail for it. Another thing about this store is they get the overflow from Target stores. They'll have their clearance price on the item....which they usually cover that price with Goodwills price. You can pick off Goodwills price and see they are charging the same amount or more. This is another ridiculous thing happening. And lastly.......people that work in the back room processing.....hold items for certain customers / antique dealers. One day they got a real old hall tree with a mirror. As they were carrying it out....this guy rushes in and says to one of the workers......thanks for the call but I couldn't get here any earlier. The price on it was $100......and he said to the manager on........I'll pay $75. And they said okay.....which is another wrong thing. We've always been told....that the price of the item is what you pay.....and they can't change the price. read more

I embrace the concept and appreciate the job they do. But they don't make it easy to make a donation. Often the donation bin is so full that you can't put anything into it. And when you go to the back door and ring, n one comes. Often I just leave boxes and bags which creates an uneasy feeling, not to mention that there is no receipt for tax purposes. read more

Wonderful store, dedicated staff, clean, professional and still always a bargain. I witnessed a very rude, impatient customer display extreme non-compassionate behavior toward a struggling cashier, this customer had no idea (as none of us have) what this employee had been through, or what challenges he may be affected by. But that never crossed the mind of this rude, condescending customer, who brought the cashier to tears with her behavior. This is what keeps people back, who are simply trying to reintegrate into mainstream society, after experiencing a brain injury, physical or mental challenges, or possibly addiction. There is no place for this behavior in a Goodwill store, and for that matter, anywhere else. God bless the workers at Goodwill, who are just trying to make it, like you and I. As Goodwills go, this is far from my favorite. Yeah, they draw from a good area for donations. That gives them the two stars. They don't get the other three because so many glass and ceramic items break because the wire shelving is not appropriate for them. But more than that, the prices aren't what I am willing to pay. Understand, I give hardly a glance at the clothes, I'm usually looking for vintage kitchenware and what all. Unlike many, I understand and respect that Goodwills should turn a profit. However just recently the prices at this one seemed to double overnight, such that you pay for an item, however mediocre, what you would expect to pay for something in an antique shop. Only in antique shops, glass isn't piled precariously on a wire shelf. More to the point, if I am paying a mark up like that of a dealer, I expect to have the selection curated, filtered. A dealer does work. I dealer sifts through a lot of rubbish before selecting items to put on sale. And the dealer, to my mind, has earned that extra mark up. This Goodwill? Not so much. They just stick high prices on everything and take no more trouble than they ever have. If that works for you, cool. It doesn't work for me. It will probably work out just fine for this Goodwill. Very very very overpriced, manager thinks she is knowledgeable and talks down to customers, I have owned an antique store for over 30 years and she doesn't know anything. They hide defects here by covering them with stickers and price tags, they reseal open packages to make customers think item is new, overall one of the worse goodwills ive ever been in. Had to wait in line 20 mins behind an employee who was buying a lot of Christmas items that were new, she prob. Priced for herself. Very dishonest store. I won't be back! read more

The staff are very friendly and always helpful. I have found some true hidden gems in here surpisingly underpiced even for a thrift store in great condition. I have also seen things that are way overpriced in here so I guess like everywhere there must be a balance. It's clean and organized. read more

wow. Prices too high, first of all. (Milford trying to go all Greenwich on us) Are you kidding me?! $30 for a cheap ceramic Jesus Statue. Maybe they are saving that for Joel Osteen. At any rate.....went in today - pm - after a Dr appt to look around with my 10 year old daughter. Attitude - NOT so Christian, from manager looking middle aged woman/employee. (NOT a special needs employee). Another woman asked for help in the art section. The employee literally said "WHAT do you need help with?!" with a sarcastic, condescending, CRAPPY attitude. The woman responded (still politely - that would NOT have been me) "I want to get this painting & can't get to it". The exasperated & RUDE employee rolled her eyes & went to help, reluctantly. There were literally like 3-4 customers in entire store!!! I said " Excuse me, I need help." "WHAT?! HELP?! I JUST WORK HERE!!!" ugh. Left the store & will never go back. If you can't handle working retail, get the hell out. The young guy working register seemed nice. That's it. BTW - In New Have - Foxon Blvd - that Goodwill is SO cheap & AWESOME! FRIENDLY staff, I just got a $130 Armani Exchange dress there - NEW with tags! - for $6.50! Blech. read more
