1/2 their employees wear mask below nose and I've seen this almost every time I go there kinda freaks me out when it's the guy hovering over the produce area...I've also noticed there's always a shopper with no mask at all and they do not address the shopper. This store is not cheap so I'd appreciate more enforcement of this during such crazy times... this is the closes grocery to me so it's convenient but really need to start going somewhere even if it's further where I feel more comfortable shopping. I've shopped at this store for years and have never had an issue. There's a male cashier that's been rude to me on more than one occasion because I've gone there to cash lottery tickets. If you don't like your job you should save everyone the misery and quit. read more

One thing I will miss when I move (this week) from Manteca is the staff at this particular SaveMart. It's by far not the nicest store, especially compared to the fancy Modesto one. However, the people that work here make me come in, because they are always laughing, joking, and smiling and I know it's genuine. From my favorite cashiers (you know who you are), to the night crew staff that harass me for always forgetting something and having to come in late, I will genuinely miss my FRIENDS at Savemart. read more

Just got to experience my first adventure with self checkout at a grocery store. I will do my best to avoid this store in the future. Convenient neighborhood store - good for a quick trip. The good: Friendly cashiers, fish mongers and produce people. The produce is always fresh and there is a nice selection of greens I have trouble finding at other markets. The needs improvement: Too many times I am accosted by people selling things or asking for donations when I leave the store, bakery-deli service can be slow. Wish management was a bit more proactive about keeping unsavory characters from hanging around outside the doors. read more

I usually like this place...but had a cashier this morning that really needs some customer service training....never once looked up at me or even said hello, he did say have a nice day upon the transaction completion, but still without eye contact! Which just voided out the " have a good day". This Save Mart is my "go to store" for all things food. I am a 35 year resident of Manteca and have consistently shopped at Save Mart as they consistently have the products I need at a fair price...especially if I watch the sales. Over the years I have come to know most of the staff on a first name and have always found them very helpful without exception. I now use the self check out whenever I can and find it easy to figure out and use (I am age 79 and statistically I am not expected to be computer literate). I saw in their weekly circular salmon on sale. I decided to stop in to buy salmon and salad for dinner. I went to their fresh meat counter in the back only to witness a handful of flies flying over and landing all over the fresh fish in the case. The fish actually looked unsafe, already turning colors from days old. For their sake it's a good thing I wasn't the health department. read more

This place has a very strong smell of rat droppings. I wonder how they keep their food safe from rats at night. I didn't have any problem with staff however which is a good thing. Please clean up your place, you might not have any rat problem anymore but that smell won't go away by itself until you Clean it. read more

Helpful employees with great customer service! Justin c. Helped signed me up for their rewards program and walked me through the process of how to use it to get 1 of their free weekly items. They carry pappy's which is wonderful! Very hard to find and it's my family's favorite tri tip seasoning. They also have a great selection of fresh produce and shelf items. This SaveMart sucks poor customer service; everyone that works at this location looks so down and depressed. No one ever says hello or good morning let alone crack a smile... Last time I shopped there, the check out lady didn't even greet me she simply held her head down checking out my groceries and was humming a song that was playing in the store. She acted as if I wasn't even there, it felt so awkward not once did she glanced up at me to say hello or asked me how I was doing or if I found everything in the store like they usually ask me at my regular SaveMart store. Needless to say, it was an awkward and uncomfortable experience. When I went to pay she didn't even tell me my total I had to ask her then I tried to take cash out she didn't tell me max amount was only 100. & not $300. that I could take out so I had to redo it all over again. So unprofessional! I usually don't go to this location but I was passing by and it was just a last minute shop but I do not plan to return to this location to shop. I will drive further to the next SaveMart or another grocery store. SaveMart, maybe you should retrain your employees to speak up and greet your customers and communicate with them so there is no misunderstanding. Maybe crack a smile or a simple hello, a little goes a long way. But your store employees needs to be retrained on common curtesy! I do not recommend this SaveMart location. Note: deli area looks very unkept and filthy... I lost my appetite shopping there, there was literally boxes on top of boxes all over and a garbage bin in plain site full of garbage it was a huge turn off.. understand when customers sees things like this they will not want to buy your food and it's a health hazard to keep garbage around the cooked foods. read more

Stood at the bakery center on Saturday for quite a while the two employees finished their conversation about whatever the topic because they acknowledged my presence. And they responded to my question begrudgingly. Sorry for bothering you with my patronage. Had a great variety of St. Patty's day themed beers, but none of them were refrigerated. I have lived in manteca for over 10 years I usually have no issue with this grocery store. The last few times i have gone I received the worst customer service ever. The clerks name was Marina who helped check me out. She was on her cell phone texting and did not greet me until she was done with her phone. She is very unfriendly and unprofessional. I was really happy to hear that Save-Mart could get me Korean Style ribs. I ordered 10 lbs. immediately at a good price. Same price as Stater Bros in SoCal. They weren't closed either. The only reason I go here is convenience. The Savemart across town is better. The Safeway and Raleys across town are better. Heck, the farmer's market during the summers is better for produce. Look, the staff is nice and friendly and the store is clean. My biggest complaints are the availability of products and the quality of the produce. I frequently find that they don't carry something I want, or a brand I prefer, or they are just plain out of stuff. And it's not uncommon for the produce to be in sad shape. They are so close to being a good grocery store, but in 15 years of living here they just haven't made the grade. read more

I have never been spoken to so rudely in my entire life. I called the bakery at 7 AM to order a cake and they seemed so mad that I had the audacity to want a generic chocolate cake that said "Happy Birthday John" and then she hung up on me! The customer service here is a joke. My ATM card was stolen and I came in to buy $24.00 worth of groceries. I pull out my checkbook and the cashier watches me write the check and takes the check and tells me that he can't accept my check because my check number was too low. The number on my check was 022 and apparently they don't accept checks because of that. I asked for a manger and he said he was a manager. I asked why they don't accept all check numbers and his answer was "we just don't." Yeah some manager. He knows he was wrong and that's why I was denied access to a manger. Then he laughed at me and spoke to me in a very condescending tone because I dared to be frustrated at the situation. I've been shopping here for a long time and I live right around the corner but I will NEVER shop here again. I refuse to be treated that way and I will be following up on this. I don't write checks very often so heaven forbid my check number is low. I use my checks for rent and not much else. The check number story is total bullshit and the way it was handled by the moron clerk was even worse. There's way too much competition in regards to supermarkets and I'm sure other supermarkets will appreciate my money much more because I'm done with this place. read more

This is the worst store ever! Most of the employees are not helpful, they're rude, and unhappy! The people in the bakery/deli are worthless. They don't know the difference between whipped cream frosting and buttercream frosting. If you want deli meat don't you dare ask them to cut it for you. If you dare expect to deal with a ton of attitude!! You had better just take what is in the case. Which 9 times out of 10 is dried out and looks like it's been there for a month! If you do decide to shop here check every and I mean EVERY expiration date! We found 6 jars of peanut butter that had expired 2 years earlier during a recent trip to this store! It is not unusual to find several expired items during one shopping trip. The produce department is just sad! Most of the produce looks like it should be headed to the trash. The quality is not the same at this store as it is in every other store. It's like the distribution center sends the lowest quality produce to this store. I will no longer shop at this store. Gosh o'gosh. Does everyone who works there hate their life? ... Well maybe not all of them, but a hand full of them... Don't get me wrong, the supermarket is always clean, has a great selection of food, and everything is pretty neat/organized, but really? Each time I fall in line, I manage to have the check-out clerk who either wants to kill me or them-selves. No 'hi', no 'bye', no 'how was your day?' & wouldn't even make a peep during the purchase... I mean really though? I'm seriously only 3 minute away from this supermarket and only go to Save Mart if I need something immediately. The supermarket is really about the food & the food alone, but if their employees don't care about their customers, they might not even care about the food they're to "care for". Just moved out here from the Bay and wanted to try something other than Walmart, Safeway, or Food 4 Less. They don't have much selection on meat and their barely was anyone on the floor to help you out. Their produce is expensive. Well most of everything was expensive here. I have always received excellent customer service from Brandi and Wes. Very friendly and pays close attention to customer needs. But the older Latina woman that works at night she very rude and talks down to the employees. I'm not sure if she is the manager or not but she's always walking around criticizing the workers. Besides Wes and Brandi I rarely get a smile or even eye contact from the clerks and baggers. There is one bagger named Cody that is very courteous, very professional and on top of his job. If I go in and I don't see at least one of those 3 I do leave and go to Safeway. read more
