This Save Mart grocery store is not unlike most of the Save Mart grocery stores in that they have incredibly friendly, helpful staff. Everyone smiles and anything you are looking for most of the staff can lead you right to it or will find someone who can. This speaks greatly to their culture. I'm assuming that the administrative team set up an expectation of service excellence and will have nothing less. I don't know if the are rewarded with better pay or conditions than any other grocery employee, however the genuinely look as if they love their job. Now to the less that great side of things, their selection leaves one wanting. They have just the basic produce, onions, carrots, potatoes, and the like. Their organic selection leaves a lot to be desired as well. Their prices would make you think that they are very proud of their product. They truly are the only game in town, which is why they can command a bit more along with their amazing staff. Something funny is going on with the scales, the SaveMart App, and the coupon redemption. Hear me out. Visit on 8/2/26. Late in the afternoon/evening went on my lunch break to buy some healthy snacks. I bought three apples, one of each variety.. a pink lady, a honey crisp and a Fiji. I told the cashier to weigh them each individually because they were different varieties different prices. Chad, the Cashier weighed one apple the scale waited close to 2 pounds and the price was eight dollars. I said there's no way that Apple weighs 2 pounds. Chad was like whoa that's not right and said out loud. I need a new register. The scale is off. This was at register #1. He took my bottle of tea to weigh it for reference to confirm it. He said to be fair is $.80 an apple good? Compared to eight dollars for one I would think so. Everything was so rushed that when I got to work, I forgot to get that bottle of tea that was already scanned. That was such a hassle to have to go back the next day to get a tea that I paid for. On my next visit one Cashier help me on the App. He saw my points and told me that I needed to redeem them or they would expire. So he said there was this trick and he started just tapping on the coupons for $15 off $10 off $20 off five dollars off four dollars off one dollars off. He said the next time I shop I should be good and get close to $40 off my bill. Weds 8/12/26. I go shopping after work. It's after 10 PM. The store closes at 11 PM so I head to the register. I'm attaching a picture so you can see what I bought. So I entered my number and I'm watching the total and the yogurt that they have advertised a four pack for $3.99 didn't show up on sale so the manager had to go back and give me the sale price. He's continuing to scan. I'm watching the numbers. The total comes out to $92.92. The only thing left is the watermelon. He put the watermelon on the scale., I looked at the screen and I just saw numbers spinning. The total came out to $167 and some change. I was flabbergasted. The manager saw it and said that's not right. Cancel the transaction. Grab the receipt crumpled it up. Now we're looking at every item and he has the the staff to take everything out of the bags because we are going to redo this transaction differently. This time he tells me do not put in my number, so I don't put in my number for the rewards. First, he scans all the fruit and then the remaining items. He asked me how many points did I have redeemed I give a figure about 1800. He says that's about $16 off. I will attach a picture of what was charged on my AMX so when I got home, I did the math I ended up paying more about $126. So if the original math was $92.92 before the watermelon with this new total. It appears I paid approximately $35. For this watermelon. This transaction happened at register 2 Something is not right . I filed a claim on Fresno County weight and measures. I contacted other government officials because I know this is a big deal going on right now with AI dynamic pricing. If the scale is off for me, it was off for everybody who went shopping. I don't believe this is isolated to the store. I do believe it's probably happening at all their stores. Save Mart encourages customers to use the app. They have barcodes at certain sales items and their sales ads, but the software program is not designed for us to save money. I believe it is designed for them to increase their profits. Coalinga Save marts current store manager and assistant store manager should both resign they have poor customer service I was in the store 11/12/2025 the gentleman that was working as a cashier by the name cristian was very polite and had a long line due to the cut back in hours that save mart has now imposed instead of management stepping inn and helping Cristian out one of the managers was to busy gossiping in produce area talking to Ryan when he could have gone to front check out and put in team work but no gossip was clearly more important to the manager not too long ago one of main managers was in the check stand talking shit about an employee who's a hard working kid read more

Beautiful produce. Great deli. Prices so high and check out takes forever due to too few employees running registers. The deli is worse with one person in front most of the time. Only issue I had was spoiled meat on more than one occasion. The packaging made it look good enough for selling to the public until you get home, open it and get whiff of spoiled meat then flip it over and see that the meat has gone bad. We stopped in here on our way through to I5. This seems like a nice enough supermarket. Big parking lot. Easy in and out. All the usual stuff... but whatever you do don't get a sandwich from the deli unless you have plenty of time to kill. We ordered three simple sandwiches... very straightforward stuff like ham and cheese with everything... no "leave this off" or "extra that". The counter guy said it'd be a couple minutes so we said okay and went off to get chips and cookies and what not. We got distracted looking at wine (don't bother... this is a beer and tequila town) ... Came back about 15 min later and he had made ONE sandwich. We're like... dude, we have to get on the road. So he called in backup and she was just as pokey and confused. They were not busy. We had been the only customers when we first placed the order, and while I waited for the last sandwich... (I swear it took 10 minutes... my friend actually broke off and went to the front to pay for the other items so we could get out of there at the same time) ...there were only maybe a couple other customers who had just walked up. I dunno. Maybe they were both new. But just... don't bother. The food wasn't even tasty. Fine for other stuff though, get yourself some snacks, maybe a prepacked Aram sandwich from the deli, some hummos and crackers... fruit... that sort of thing... and move on. read more

More expensive than groceries in San Francisco, tada! :( This will sound obnoxiously city slickerish, but the only thing on my grocery list that was missing were: the quinoa and soy meatballs. However, I do not complain because- wow they have white miso. And that slushy frozen piña colada that comes in a bag (I recommend). 2 Redbox machines. Customer service was awesome. Savemart is great because they have most of what you would need when living in coalinga. It is more expensive than the other grocery stores but it's still great to get things you can at the others. The sandwiches they make are my favorite. I'd take those over subway anyday! read more
