We have wanted to try them since they opened. In that time they have expanded into a grocery store…read moreas well. A tip? If you are going to get meat and groceries, go into the livestock area, order what you are going to order, then go grocery shopping. While you are grocery shopping (tell them @ the livestock window that you are going into the grocery department)...they will butcher and cut your meat to however you request. When it's done, more time then not, they will bring your meat into the store for you. I recommend it, because if you spend an extended amount of time in the live stock area, you WILL leave smelling like....livestock. My husband and I originally went for the first time over the winter, and we spent the entire time in the live stock area. We had to wash our coats after. Get in and get out of the live stock area. If you are going for live stock, you go to the window, tell them what you want. They will pull and weigh. You cash out and wait for your meat. We originally went for the live, fresh chickens, quickly expanding our meat order. While I will admit, the people who butcher the animals, they have a definite language barrier. It is much easier to tell the gentlemen at the window what you want, and HOW you want it cut up. Better yet, write it down. Once you've been there once, you get the gist, and it goes much faster, just because you know what you are doing. Best chicken ever. It is a totally different experience from the frozen, hormone pumped chicken from the store. And FYI, their brown chicken (while generally no different in price), tastes better then the white. I can't explain it, that is just the way it works. And save the chicken part extras (backs, necks, and what not) for stock. My freezer is full of it. On any given day, they will have several types of animals to choose from. White Chicken Brown Chicken Roosters Guinea Hens Turkeys Several different type of ducks Goats Lambs Cows Rabbits Just remember to pick up good freezer bags, as they only put them in clear plastic bags. I prefer switching everything over to a better bag. We go every couple of months, only because we buy so much when we do go, my freezer is full of meat for a while. Definitely a good meat market. Prices are reasonable, just remember, you are buying the whole animal. They will ask you if you want the heads, and hearts, and what not. They don't do it to be gross, they do it because you paid for the entire animal. They are waiting for FDA approval to sell their livestock, that they butcher and package, in the grocery section. For the time being, the meat in the freezer case is brought in from NYC. All in all, it IS clean, and you can't smell anything outside the building, OR in the grocery section. Go take a look! Worth It.

It has all the ambience on the Broadway market without having to leave my suburban neighborhood. I've been focused on Tavern style fish fries throughout this Lenten season. But today was only Thursday and the Market in the Square's deli doesn't serve beer battered fish until Friday. But imagine my surprise when I saw beer-batter fish in the prepared meals section of the deli. For $15 I got two huge beer-battered haddock cutlets, which when air fried are absolutely flavorful, crunchy coating and the fish is tender and tasty! I prepared all my homemade sides and tartar sauce, served it with a lemon and some rye! I sure didn't miss paying $52 at a restaurant for this tasty meal which served 3 people! I thoroughly enjoy the selection of fresh lilies and tulips in pots near the front of the store Cashiers are very helpful, pleasant, and caring.

The Market in the Square - Go Bills! I didn't buy it, but it would be a fun addition to any tomorrow's watching game party:). It's just a rye bread:).
